Thank you so much Emirichu for doing this! This video is the reason I reached out to Katherine to work with her (I'm a composer), and as time passed, we became best friends. This makes me feel so nostalgic, I almost wanna cry. I cannot imagine a world where I didn't meet my closest friend! So... thank you!! This animatic ACTUALLY changed my life.

This video is meaningful for me too. :)) The Azula part specifically was actually the initial inspiration behind a character I created in a story I’d just started writing at the time (and this specific character became very close to my writer heart later.) I came up with her two years ago today, so I just returned to this video for the nostalgia!! Many thanks to Katherine and Emirichu!! After reading your comment, I’m so happy especially because this one video is the reason why I’ve followed Katherine’s content ever since - and why I’ve seen you in livestreams and heard your lovely music!! ☺️ I’m so glad I found your comment and here’s to many more great memories and compositions between the two of you!

@@togathin7009 to summarized at the climax of the fire nation siege of the northern water tribe, Aang temporary fused with the ocean spirit. Aang/Ocean spirit sank around a dozen empire class battle ships on screen. Azula in the episode “the beach” mentioned that a battleship on that size is maned by a crew of around a 1000. That’s not including the infantry on board. Even if we assume that the fighting force of each ship was on the ground fighting, that still leaves the crews. Aang/Ocean spirit capsized a dozen of them, leaving thousands of sailors to die in the water. Killed either by drowning, hypothermia, or crushed by the ocean spirit. Let’s be very generous, and say 20% of crew was take as POWs. That still leaves a death toll into the high 4 digit , bordering the low 5 digit numbers. At minimum we’re talking about 9,600 men dead at sea. That’s comparable to allied fatality rates at the Normandy landings during ww2. It’s debatable weather Aang was conscious of what happened or if it was the ocean spirit was guiding his body. But Aang is still played an active part in it.

I love the little detail in Azula's song there with the figurines of her, Ty Lee and Mai invading Ba Sing Se where it cuts to see (the figurine versions of them) Ty Lee and Mai standing over a fallen Azula, foreshadowing their betrayal. Especially when Azula says over it, "Be careful who you believe in and who you can trust."

I can't stop rewatching this on repeat... it's so cute! I love the nuances and foreshadowing, and how accurately it portrays Aang's a Katara's relationship. This actually pictures very well how Aang and Katara's relationship works: they loved each other basically at first sight, but Aang was too kiddish and carefree to prove himself as capable of caring for her, and Katara was too somber and traumatised to be honest to herself about her feelings and tried very hard to convince herself her love was motherly or sisterly, until 'The Fortuneteller' forced her to reconsider; but from the very beginning, each one had exactly the other sought: Katara had the hope and maturity Aang needed, and Aang had the joy and innocence Katara had lost. The official Avatar channel says Aang won Katara's heart at the moment he stopped the volcano, but I disagree -- that was when she *realised* it; in my opinion the moment he actually won her over was when they penguin-sledded -- at that moment Katara's childhood was restituted.

Actually it would be cooler if he doesn't sing for his first appearance, because like he would be that one character who gets angry while the people around him is singing. Imagine iroh singing a song with lyrics like "come sit down and have cup of ginseng" Zuko would be like "NO UNCLE" and peopke are singing and Zuko will just scream. But when it gets down to his more emotional or character defining moments, like being the blue dragon, HE SHOWS PERFECT VOCALS. Zuko is a serious character that is very complex, I think his songs should show that, so he shouldn't have as much songs as as the other characters.
