Paul Watson really deserves the Peace Nobel Prize for his efficient methods of agressive non-violence as it recalls Gandhi action! Paul Watson built up Sea Shepherd the great organization of protection of the Biodiversity of the Oceans. Paul Watson is among the greatest of the World and he dedicated his life to the wildlife, preserving the Future of the Planet and the next generations! Thank you Paul!!

Paul Watson and his outstanding Sea Shepherd crew members do the a great job. The Job that should be done by governments, but Sea Shepherd achieves it so well with an efficient method of agressive non-violence and they save lives of marine species! with this strategy and their results, without no doubt, Paul Watson deserves the Peace Nobel Prize!!!

Captain Watson is real hero in an age where most people just worship movie stars and athletes. Protesting and political action are great, but the direct intervention of the Sea Shepherd is awe inspiring. I think their most import work right now is to save the Vaquita porpoise in the Sea of Cortez, maybe less than 50 left so this is the last chance.

If you were to consult their 900 forms from 2005 to 2012 (from the IRS) you'd notice that the vast majority of Sea Shepherd's expenditures were associated to campaigns in the Antarctic, followed by campaigns in the Faroe Islands and in Atlantic Canada. Those campaigns involved four species, only one of which is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List. The three non-endangered species in question are not listed as vulnerable or near threatened on the IUCN Red List and Japan only took 18 of the aforementioned endangered species, in total, so how exactly is he saving our oceans, as he likes to imply ? Would a "real hero" claim to be saving something he doesn't, like humpback whales in the southern ocean whaling sanctuary ? Japan cancelled those plans in 2007 and had taken none yet he still claims to be protecting them there. BTW, in regards to those 18 endangered fin whales Japan had taken, Greenland took 60 of those over the same period and also indulged in some humpback whaling, resulting in the death of 28 humpbacks. But where was the "direct intervention" there ?

Can you point to someone who is doing more? Maybe Taylor Swift or Kobe Bryant? It sounds like you are just nit picking in order to oppose what Paul Watson stands for. Or maybe you are just a Canuck who wants to take your hakapik the skull of a baby seal? Endangered our not, thousands of seal pups, is that something that Canada should be proud of?
@canucktunes
@canucktunes 8 жыл бұрын
calamagrostis88 Taylor Swift and Kobe Bryant are not claiming to be saving the oceans. Paul is. And from the information I provided to you you should know that he is not saving the oceans. Accomplishment fallacies, false dilemmas, association fallacy based straw men and appeals to pride do not cause Paul Watson to save the oceans either. In regards to your rather ignorant questions, I refer you to Paul Watson's own statements in an 1978 interview with Barbara Frum on CBC Radio, which can be found on KZfaq. Please consult that video before responding.
@calamagrostis88

OK, that is an old interview, but it is a bit Machiavellian. While the harp seal may not be endangered the Sea Shepherd is working on saving the Vaquita, Bluefin Tuna, Sea Turtles and Coral Reefs. But maybe you have a better idea, is there another organization that you would recommend that is doing a better job?
@canucktunes
@canucktunes 8 жыл бұрын
calamagrostis88 Sea Shepherd have only recently decided to discuss the Vaquita, which was on the CETOS Research Organization's radar for a decade. If they truly had been concerned about this issue they would have spent a significant amount of funds on it, earlier. But even you can confirm by looking at their "operation" details that none had been dedicated to this species. In regards to Bluefin Tuna, there was only one Sea Shepherd campaign in regards to this species since 2000, in the Mediterranean in 2010. And if it weren't for their cutting of nets at a legal fish farming installation and the subsequent legal action by Fish & Fish nobody would have known they were there. That's pretty much all they did. Other groups like the WWF were responsible for spreading the word to consumers to curb their consumption of this tuna. And Sea Shepherd's actions felt contrived and opportunistic, more-so now that they haven't had a "campaign" there since. In regards to Sea Turtles and the coral reefs, they spent so little on those issues that one can only consider them side notes to their cetacean campaigns in the Antarctic and Faroe Islands. I don't remember encountering the expenditures associated to the Cove Guardians in the 900 forms but i'm guessing it was significantly more that what they spent on the three issues you've mentioned, combined. Basically Paul keeps his fingers in many pies but spend the most on those that bring in the most donations, which is made apparent by his Ady Gil stunt. www.ady.com/Award-Final_Award-Kalicki.pdf

Speaking of ignorance, can you name the two whale species that were being taken by Japan during JARPA II and their conservation statuses on the IUCN Red List ? And can you explain how this activity would cause the oceans to die ? Paul may have convinced you this is a black and white situation but are you not concerned about his group's use of a chemical that has its own International Chemical Safety Card, which contains an explicit warning about the chemical being "harmful to aquatic organisms" ? ICSC 1334 clearly states that the chemical should not enter the environment and to retain its stench, corrosive nature and slickness the product must be in a high concentration. Are you not concerned about the dangerous navigation and tactics Sea Shepherd have been cited for in Case ID 12-35266, all of which had the possibility of harming not only people but the environment ? The Antarctic is no place to provoke collisions with vessels, including feeling vessels. And disabling vessels in these choppy cold waters is incredibly dangerous.

Canuktunes- You could only be japanese to defend the indefensible! On March 2014 the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Japan to cease the JARPA II programme stating that its Antarctic whaling was in contravention of the IWC moratoria 10(e) and 10(d). Whaling is one of the greatest shames of Japan with Child Porn: content.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,2054271,00.html and their Melted reactor N2 in Fukushima not still found: www.extremetech.com/extreme/243904-fukushimas-reactor-2-far-radioactive-previously-realized-no-sign-containment-breach This shows how Japan does not respect the basics values of all others countries. IWC moratoria was voted by 86 Countries and Japan laugh at all the Countries. Japan diverted the donations to Victims of Tsunami to their whaling vessels and the infamous Nishhin Maru the butcher-plant-ship and its harpooners-ships.

Paul Watson and Sea Shepherd to face the great destructors of Oceans and Marine Life such as Japan that unscrupulously empty the Oceans all over the World in all impunity violating all International laws of preservation such as Moratorium of whaling 1986 and Antarctic as a Sancyuary on 1994. Japan does not respect others countries. Japan has a specific tastes of atrocities suchas TAIJI DOLPHIN Horrible SLAUGHTERING EVERY YEAR during 6 MONTHS from SEPT 1 st to APRIL,1st

Rene Bailly Watson orders his crews to scuttle ships so cameras can get good views and it 'looks' good for the public. Do you really think that is acceptable behaviour? The captain of a ship in question quit Sea Shepard because Watson ordered him to scuttle a ship that could have been saved easily. Why? Because there was a TV camera nearby and it would look sympathetic to SS. Pathetic!

So when you clean up, any area on the surface land mass. you help protect our oceans. Now, even innovate people with Human jobs, or the Economy in mind, can help. I designed a Straw, not made of plastic, in fact it's made of wood pulp & natural wax, that's environmentally & economically sound. But, I can't get anyone to listen, or manufacture these, at all. If reactors leaked in the US do you think we would have it stopped by now? Maybe we wouldn't stock them with more fuel then a workers shift in case there's a meltdown, maybe it should be stored away from the reactors and regularly be feuled to maintain a low stock of feul in or around a reactor. Maybe a safer fuel should be used for energy like ocean kinetic, solar, and hydrogen. An engineer in the US put out the Kuwait oil fields using a blast to put out the fires, and it worked. The fire was so hot water turned to steam, and water on the ground mixed with the oil and spread it.. Maybe a non flal.mable co2 blast would separate the fuel in these reactors from the heat source and stop feeding the fire. Maybe a blast would take the logs in the fire away from each other so it can go out, maybe containing a fire is not the way to put out a fire in a fire pit. I guess the reactors are so hot if you tried to dump sand or sand blast sand in there it'd just melt into glass, if only you could put it out with sand like a regular old fire. People shouldn't really be making stars on earth, and playing with that kind of firepower, we'll be the planet that figured out how to make a sun from elements feeding earth's core and then ruined our own planet with it. If Go.d ever comes here on vacation he's not gonna be happy as to what happened, after all 3rd times a charm and we didn't learn from that, so, whoops and better luck next time We better stop before we burn down his whole yard, or the rest of the planet

As this guy mentions; humans do not act as crew on their own ship(Earth), humans act as a counter force against all of the functions of all of the other crew on earth; killing, destroying, wasting, dumping, polluting, all while trying to own what is not theirs to own. God left forth two original commandments to the first humans: First to go forth and name all that The Most High God had created, Second to go forth and multiply and tend his great garden(Earth), Humans have succeeded at the first in naming everything and did the opposite of the second by killing & destroying all that they named. As if trying to Give the Living Most High God the most regret by being most disobedient.

I watched this video and this man is talking about animals being gone. yes they're gone because of our stupidity in the past. here's the thing most of what he's talking about is stuff that happened before even his time come. before any restrictions of any sort. greed caused that. not people looking for food. lots of people need lots of food. the people in this video killing whales is not commercial fisherman selling they're product to the world. it's people looking for food. get over it. you wouldn't want someone coming to America saying you killing to many cows or chickens or pigs. and force their beliefs on u would u? so why would anyone interfere with other nations cultures.

If the moon looses orbit and crashes into the earth, WE DIE!!! It is well known scientific fact that the moon will eventually drop out of orbit. We better start preparing to install giant thrusters on the moon to correct for it's decaying orbit. We must do this now, we don't have time to waste.

Either way, we better buy into the fear mongering and listen to the fake science before it's too late.

God made everything to work together in natural harmony but the selfishness and unwillingness of people to acknowledge God and His perfect creation is causing our own extinction.

Now Larsen your Family is full of Mercury! Whaling are against the decision made by 89 Countries and must be considered as an act of war with all the consequences that implies. The way people from Faroes trap whales with Aircrafts, motor boats, GPS and all modern devices in collusion with Danish guys are really shocking to all the World. This is on the biggest shame of the people we must still consider as trust. Then Whales are at the top of the chain and so unfortunately full of PCB and Mercury. The definition of PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) is a family of highly toxic chemical compounds consisting of two benzene rings in which chlorine takes the place of two or more hydrogen atoms: known to cause skin diseases and suspected of causing birth defects and cancer. Digesting any form of mercury provide extreme diseases. A serious industrial disaster was the dumping of mercury compounds into Minamata Bay, Japan. It is estimated that over 3,000 people suffered various deformities, severe mercury poisoning symptoms or death from what became known as Minamata disease. Symptoms typically include sensory impairment (vision, hearing, speech), disturbed sensation and a lack of coordination. Case control studies have shown effects such as tremors, impaired cognitive skills, and sleep disturbance in workers with chronic exposure to mercury vapor even at low concentrations. Acute exposure to mercury vapor has been shown to result in profound central nervous system effects, including psychotic reactions characterized by delirium, hallucinations, and suicidal tendency. Occupational exposure has resulted in broad-ranging functional disturbance, including erethism, irritability, excitability, excessive shyness, and insomnia. With continuing exposure, a fine tremor develops and may escalate to violent muscular spasms. Tremor initially involves the hands and later spreads to the eyelids, lips, and tongue. Long-term, low-level exposure has been associated with more subtle symptoms of erethism, including fatigue, irritability, loss of memory, vivid dreams and depression.

The only thin this fraud is interested in is getting your dollar so that he can buy bigger and better toys that enable him to play at being a pirate. Whales saved in 10 years? NIL His carbon footprint all over the Antarctic? Bigger than all the whales in the sea put together.
