Look back at 2016-2020. Where was Trump not in service? We now have a President who's only direct service to people, are people who aren't American. Is he servicing you by skyrocketing prices on everything? Where $20 worth of groceries in 2016 now costs $42 for the same groceries in just his administration? Trump also never called the opposing party "Domestic Terrorists" because their party represents different ideals that haven't even changed in the last 100 years. There's a reason Democrats now divide themselves into groups like "Classic Liberals", just to show how much the Democrat party has moved far left, away from the ideals of Democrats just 20 years ago. There's no Republican division on Republican principals. Still want small government, low taxes, safe streets and a secure border. The Democrat party of Bill Clinton and Obama/Biden, are two different parties.

Welcome to the United States of America, where "we fought fascism in WWII" is cope for the fact that we only fought countries that upset our balance of empires through invasions, and "fighting the bad guys" was just what our government (like in the UK and everywhere else) sold us to give our lives to the cause of imperialism. The fascists were our friends until they stepped on our toes. Europe, the UK and the US were cheering them on until they stepped on our toes. Fascism has never been our enemy. More often than not it has been our ally, the governments we put into power after coups etc, and our own government...and a pretty significant portion of our populace which, by the way, did a lot to inspire the fascists of Italy and Germany...which they actually said out loud. Look into Henry Ford's newspaper "The International Jew" to see just what kind of person he was (and then look into how Hitler said that it inspired him), and then understand that there were around 500 businesses involved in Auschwitz, including IBM, the business that actually organized the Holocaust as consenting partners to what was happening...including within the death camps themselves. Fascism is a "necessary evil" to defend capitalism from the rise of socialism according to famous capitalist theorist Ludwig von Mises (his cultists love to make excuses for that, but how he felt about fascism on its own isn't exactly important to how he felt about it relative to leftist movements that threatened capitalism), except that they've learned so much from the past that now the right AND moderates AND liberals are able to justify and support it against leftist movements more generally. The Republican party is a fascist party. They've been building up to the point where Trump was just the next step in their march. Now we're to the point where his rhetoric is acceptable to the right. Do you honestly think this wasn't a desirable outcome for Republicans? And what about Democrats? They've been shunning the left for so long that there is no significant left party or even branch of their party, so they've been ENABLING Republicans by not actually fighting them in any meaningful way. It's always lip service and "you should have voted harder" excuses when they don't get all the power. This is the product of a country that has leaned right for so long that it doesn't know what "left" means except relative to the farthest-right fringes. Plenty of people have written or spoken out about how this feels almost exactly like it did in Germany and Italy...but too many moderates and liberals dismiss it, or nod in agreement as they continue to fight for it to continue by not fighting AGAINST it. Because they're so invested in not allowing any meaningful changes to the systems that they profit/benefit from that they'll side with fascists rather than against them.

Things Trump did while in office: Brokered two Middle East Peace Accords, something that 71 years of political intervention and endless war failed to produce. Secured $6 billion in NEW funding to fight the opioid epidemic. Created more than 400,000 manufacturing jobs since his election. Has not engaged us in a foreign war since Eisenhower. Protecting Americans from terrorists with the Travel Ban, upheld by Supreme Court. Greatest impact on the economy, bringing jobs, and lowering unemployment to the Black and Latino population of ANY other president. Ever. exposed the deep, widespread, and long-standing corruption in the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the Republican and Democratic parties. Turned NATO around and had them start paying their dues. Turned our relationship with the Chinese around, brought hundreds of business back to the US, and revived the economy. Accomplished the appointing of three Supreme Court Justices and close to 300 Federal Judges. Lowered your taxes, increased the standard deduction on your IRS return from $12,500 for Married Filing Joint to $24,400 and caused your stock market to move to record levels over 100 times, positively impacting the retirements of tens of millions of citizens. Fast-tracked the development of a COVID Vaccine - it will be available within weeks - we still don't have a vaccine for SARS, Bird Flu, Ebola, or a host of diseases that arose during previous administrations. Exposed world wide sex trafficking of minors and bringing children home to their families. Reformed the Medicare program to stop hospitals from overcharging low-income seniors on their drugs-saving seniors hundreds of millions of dollars this year alone. Trump works for free, donates his salary to charity.

Mitch McConnell said that Trump was morally and practically responsible for the January 6th insurrection, then right back to kissing Trump's ass. These people are cowards, and willing to sell out America for votes.

It's not rhetorical, it's a fact that he wants to stay in power as a dictator. Did people forget the January sixth violent attack on our capitol and our constitution to overturn the election at Trump's direction. Did people forget that Trump refused a peaceful transition of power as every other president has done. Have people not been paying attention to his admitting that he will use the office of president for retribution. Keep this hate filled moron out of power. America depends on it.

I trust Trump over these corrupt democrats running things. And why does it happen that every time a democrat gets in office they show weakness to the world. @@mudshark6782 I would argue that both Oliver's and the Daily Show's writers are better than either of those in terms of "late-night-style" talk programs. Colbert's writing team has a few stars (Brian Stack comes to mind), but I think Colbert and Kimmel are generally pretty comparable in terms of overall quality and effect. Kimmel's forte tends to be more about mass appeal and simplicity (with a dash of pop-culture guilty pleasure trashiness) while Colbert's style is more akin to the kind of political satire he helped pioneer on Comedy Central. They both have their merits, and it really depends on what kind of comedy you're looking for: something that is silly and easy to digest (Kimmel) or someone who can be more subtle and biting, but who forces to you think a little bit more to get the full nuance of the joke (Colbert). This distinction can also be borne out by the types of guests they tend to interview for those portions of each respective show.

Nothing would surprise me, however, anything that gave Trump additional power or an extended term would require the Constitution to be amended, you can't do that as a decree, no matter how much of a 'dictator' you want to be - the Constitution prevents that unless it's amended and THAT can't be done by decree either. There is only one way to amend the Constitution, and no single person, even the President, has the power to do it, it requires a 2/3 majority in support of the amendment in BOTH houses AND ratification by enough of the states. It's not easy or the 2nd Amendment would have been removed already.
