Fireside tattoo did a episode on ink from a maker of ink in the industry they talk about the reflection of the ink particles in the skin to make it more bright for black skin tones they said they could make it more vibrant for darker skin tones but no one has reached out to them to make that happen it’s a great science behind the scenes (what’s in tattoo ink fireside tattoo podcast episode 5)

Love this episode ❤ shout to out to all the minorities doing traditional ! I'm personally Mexican live in Mexico and definitely add our culture to the traditional style ! There's plenty out here and it's dope to see the light being shined on this subject ! . Ps I thought this would be way more racial of an episode from the click bait , it's definitely racial 😂 but not like enough for me to turn away from it , thanks for the dope episode ❤

Aaron and Jon really put Matt in the corner on this one, there is no way how the question and answer is framed that Matt isnt racist and you can tell by the response on instagram that he is absolutely getting flamed for it. Sorry to see you take the L for being reasonable and coming at this question with the same lens that many non black tattooers have.

Glad to have come across this discussion. I’m a young woman of color who does not have any tattoos but have been thinking about getting one. I always heard the stories and tales that not many artist take on clients of color or even use color in the those tattoos which have made me a bit nervous to get a tattoo done. Yet I am so proud of the various artist who are making this issue an awareness and I hope to find someone in my area that will aid me in my research and search to get a tattoo done in the future.

I love this commentary! Matt getting defensive and trying to make excuses as to why a white artist doesn’t have black people on their page shows how most white artists feel about their black clients… instead of taking accountability for not TRYING to get black clients they say nobody black comes to them. I wish more white artists would listen instead of feeling offended for their lack of artistry on all skin types. It’s not a catch 22, it’s business marketing. More white artists need brown and black flash sheets to prove that they can do good work on all skin tones, not just a white canvas. It’s just laziness with white artists. In every industry black people are overlooked and we don’t want to be, we would rather feel comfortable in any space but unfortunately *a lot* of white people don’t take the conscious decisions and actions to include all other races outside their own in their business. Black people do not want to divide ourselves, but I find that white people do. Nothing I said is political either. Just observations that a majority of other POC would agree with. I love the podcast though and that we aren’t afraid to speak about these topics anymore!

✋🏻 ppl will ALWAYS get defensive when it comes to talk of race. Like they believe that if they aren't explicitly racist themselves, than the problem of racism isn't a thing in others. Like this country was fundamentally built of racism, so of course the race problem is ingrained into our society. The more ✋🏻 ppl are willing to acknowledge that, the better. But they continue to ignore it.

First of all black people have brown skin. That’s dumb. And idk if you’re an artist at all but there are definitely different shades and textures of black that can be layered onto black paper. So if you are an artist then, I guess, yeah you’re a bad artist. 👍
