To God, a sin is a sin. None of this fslse mortal and menial sins. The church, as with everything else, is about control and intimidation. Scripture says that "the wages of sin is death." That doesn't say "the wages of mortal sin is death." The book of Ezekiel says, "the soul that sins will surely die." Again, no mention of mortal sin. The RCC is controlled by Satan.

@@RestoreJustice675 as usual you are taking it out of context. John finally says that ALL unrighteousness is sin. That why scripture, old testament, says "the soul that sins will surely die." Romans says, "the wages of sin is death." Any transgression against God is a sin.

Sadly, I was raised(brainwashed) a RC. I was an altar boy, knew the complete mass in Latin, and my serious ambition until aged 15 was to be a priest. Then I GREW up and realised just how sill, nonsensical and deluded I had become. I can now live a decent life, without religious/biblical input and am much happier (and sane). Someone's ego is their sense of their own worth. When I conributed to being a RC, my self worth, mainly through GUILT was zero.I am NOT egotistical, but since departing the RC fantasy, my "self worth" is worthwhile. I have recently read all of the gospels, that is incorrect. We pray in private, and we also join in one mind to pray as well. They are both important.

There are several other references in Matthew in a similar vein. I am sure you can find them. These do NOT NEED ANY INTERPRETATION meaning is perfectly clear. There is a reference that says NOT TO STAND UP IN PUBLIC AS THE HYPOCRITES DO ON THE CORNER OF THE STREET. Now I understand English very well and the meaning of these passages are TO PRAY IN PRIVATE NOT IN HUGE CROWDS IN CHURCHES

@oldedwardian1778 Well, this is a first. Look, Jesus was talking about our interior life, not literally go into a closet. Not to mention Jesus said that when two or more are gathered in prayer the Lord is present. Furthermore, we read in Acts of the Apostles they were gathered together in prayer in the upper room at Pentecost praying. (Acts 1:13-14; 2:1). I don’t write this to be rude, but you are clearly misunderstanding scripture and are influenced by Protestant heresy, it seems.
