The last words he tells Jack and Abigail, “keep riding and don’t look back!”

The words I’m speaking of that John remembers are when Arthur is with John at the bridge and he tells him “Listen to me. When the time comes, you gotta run and don’t look back..” and then before he sends Jack and Abigail away in this mission he reuses nearly the same monologue as he tells them “keep riding and don’t look back” obviously RDR1 was written before RDR2 but it’s an interesting detail to consider that maybe this was the only “reference” to Arthur RDR1 has.

I think John referred to Arthur while speaking to Marshall Johnson “Ya know, I hear you speak, and suddenly I’m reminded how some of the people I respected most in my life had a problem with authority”. John respected Dutch, for raising him and saving him from Micah, but I believe he also referred to Arthur and Hosea. Actually I screwed up the quote. John says some not one, further emphasising that he was indeed referencing unmentioned gang members. Bill and Javier didn’t like the law, and while John viewed them as brothers, he was more accustomed to Arthur and Dutch’s views on the law and the government, along with probably Hosea. Hosea’s personal opinions on the government weren’t explored but I believe he agreed with Dutch’s ideals and just wanted to live freely.

I really hope that they make a remake of RDR1. I would love to see this scene (and all of the game) in the same quality of RDR2. Maybe they could even add some little references to Arthur into a remake (but not too many, to keep the idea that RDR2's epilogue gave us that the reason that Arthur isn't mentioned much is because it's painful for John - which is a nice way to explain the in-universe reason for the lack of reference in RDR1 to such an important character to John's story, but it would still be nice to have some little details for those players who have played RDR2).

Can we just stop to appreciate the beauty in theses sacrifices, and notice the ugly cycle that continues. Arthur Morgan fought and died to give the marstons a fighting chance. John and uncle fought to make the dream of being a homesteader come true. Uncle fought and died in the hopes the marstons could make it out. John took a final stand trying to give his wife and son a chance at that life the Pinkerton's destroyed, knowing he couldn't win the fight. Abigail fought so Jack wouldn't become a gunslinger. Arthur died so John didn't have to be a gunslinger anymore, John still became a gun slinger. John died so Jack didn't have to be a gunslinger anymore, Jack still became a gunslinger. The sacrifices continues on, and the cycle continues. They all die for each other, until little Jack is the only one left in the Vanderlin gang. "You can't change your future and you can't outrun your past." Rest in peace, Arthur, Uncle, John, and Abigail. You all died heroes in my eyes. 💔😭💜 My question is, what happened to Sadie Adler and Charles? Did Sadie ever make it to south America? And did Charles ever leave with his people? 👀 Pls let us be Sadie in rdr3, or Jack looking for Sadie in South America. I'd even settler for a Mafia style 1920s Jack Marston play through. 😂. I agree with the sentiment that Abagail did indeed die of a broken heart. Think about it, John saved her in every way possible, he knew her history but he wanted her, through that she gained trust, & respect, & the truest love she'd ever known, & in the end he saved her again & gave her a chance for a life, this broke her soul & spirit. I've seen this 1st hand my Mother & Father, my mom passed 1st & yr and half later my father past, he was lost without her, they were married 47 yrs, mom had a massive heart attack, & dad died from liver cancer, it was all so sudden, as this was all unfolding around me & my brother Christopher, this is when he was still alive, he died a yr after dad that nearly ended me. My whole family within 3 yrs. I think when we love someone so much, and they pass a part us dies to, it hurts our heart & our soul to lose what once was everything & mattered so much. One thing I learned after my loss is don't remember how they died, but how they lived, in that way all your memories are good ones, and you honor their lives. We have to go on, we can't give up, they would never want that for us, after all they gave us life & brought into this world. My memories all started out in 1962, but didn't end in 2005 when my brother died, they go on until my time is up, if Heaven is real, & I hope it is I'll see my family again. So yes I agree that John's death just destroyed her, they had gone through too much together, she could not go on. I did a lot reading about Abagail's death, there's no mention of how she died whatsoever. What hurt was watching Jack standing at all the graves, that killed me he lost everyone, that hit me hard. Everything he'd ever known was gone, and now where does he go?, what does he do? We know the answer we saw it coming, Ross was a total bastard, he used John in every way possible, had John do all of his dirty work. Where he was mistaken, there would be a calling & a retribution, Jack saw to that.

@@itookashittoday1146 Yeah, the issue with the remasters wasn't which games they chose. It was that they decided the best way to "remaster" the originals was to train an AI to upscale everything and, seemingly, didn't then go in and realise it was a complete failure and waste of time and they really ought to have gone in and done a lot of it by hand. Honestly, if that was the plan they had for GTAIV and RDR, then I'm happy they shelved those. I'm not being over-dramatic when I say RDR especially would have been rendered unplayable by such a treatment.
