When I was in my college 1st year, I wore a T-shirt that said, "sorry girls, mom said no dating until 18." I kind of became popular for that.

As an introvert, it has helped me to just study charismatic and social skills overall. And then wanting to implement those things! Like today focused on practising getting eye contact with every girl I met on my way home. The point being, by reading and researching about these skills I've got an urge to go out an implement them and try them out. A reason to get out even if I want to sit at home. And in the actual conversations, it has taken some of the anxiety away by being focused on whatever skill I'm trying to develop. But also, the better I've become the more I've enjoyed and craved more of these connecting moments. That's also why I don't see myself as much of an introvert anymore - I've simply taught myself to not make all the social interaction as energy demanding as they used to be. This is really excellent advice. I accidentally stumbled on this style of meeting people and having conversations as an introvert after many years trying to improve my social and dating skills. I think one last part to the interaction is that if you get deflected or outright rejected just say "Ok cool" and be happy as their friend. Don't mope about it or overvalue them and obsess over them like I did as a younger dude. Movies are WRONG about this and there's so many billions of people for you to spend time with rather than someone who doesn't want you

I'm naturally introverted, but a lot of these are definitely applicable (I say that as someone who has now been married for 10 years). Not so keen on wearing clothing showing my interest though if I'm honest, not something I've ever been into wearing and wouldn't really feel comfortable even if it is a talking point. What I find works equally well is have items in hand that can show interests (e.g. having a book in hand)

I would very much like more on this. I am a introvert down to my soul. My style is that I'm direct and funny (whichever calls for which) and can be social when I need/want to be. My issue is finding people I can click and relate too. I'm not normal at all, so finding people that are even close to me, especially at my university, is hard/next to impossible. Believe me, I've tried multiple times over three years. Cheers mate, and positive vibes.

I always hoped the t shirt technique would work, I live in a big city and I grew an interest in captioned t shirts where it kinda became my personal fashion statement, women would eye them but still wouldn't really strike up a conversation. I think it's far better to be proactive yourself if you're thinking of getting yourself a partner and not hope for someone magically falling into your lap.

Very good advice and really good tips bro. Sometimes romance comes in mysterious ways. Flirting involves talking. Talking in terms of the other person’s interests and listening to them when they talk about themselves helps. This shows you’re interested in their values, attitudes, experiences, and beliefs. You’re interested in who they are as a person. When they tell you something about themselves, listen to what they say, then ask follow-up questions based on what they just told you. Can you please make a video on how to talk to or what to do when a friend is sad/ feeling down/ going through a tough time. I often find myself in a dilemma where I don't know if I should encourage my friends to talk about their problems or not be invasive and sit through awkward silences.

I mentor people on a number of different levels and get ask this question frequently. I agree with number 1, I refer to it as taking yourself on a date to a place or event that you would really enjoy and you are likely going to meet people that enjoy the same things you do and conversation will come eaiser because you already know you have a common interest.

I can vouch for that first one. In my longest relationship I met her during a bookfair and even as an introvert I sometimes get into the mood of being conversationalist, I started chatting with this girl who was in my stall buying my books when I was called to stage suddenly for a poetry reading. I didn't leave things at a definite good bye so she stayed in my stall waiting for me. I thought her awkwardness in the situation was cute so I asked for her contacts right after and we vibed with having similar interests soon after.

My fellow introverts, this is VERY good advice. Charlie, you killed it on this one. If I could sum it up in one sentence, I'd say, "Find the situations where you naturally ACT extroverted, and pursue those situations". I wear shirts of old 90s cartoons, I wear shirts with ridiculous patterns, stuff that gives off a vibe that I'm easy-going. Employees at establishments I frequent call me "the cool shirt guy". My 90s Nickelodeon and Disney shirts get lots of attention from people around my age. This opens up a lot of conversations for free, I don't have to do anything and suddenly I'm conversing about one of my favorite shows as a kid and my personality lights up. If you work at an establishment where you have regular customers, this is always a good place to make new friends or get dates. I love Charlie's awkward line, as its very similar to my own, "Hey, I don't wanna make anything weird, but I think you're really cool. You should shoot me a text sometime". If they agree, I give them my phone number (I don't ask for their number), and then I try to move on to a different conversation or let them know I gotta get back to work. The reason I like making friends or getting dates at work, is because work is where I naturally act the most extroverted. Everyone has a "work face" they put on at their job. For some reason, it's just easier to act extroverted when you're representing an external entity rather than yourself. I don't do yoga (though I should), but I have made friends and got a couple dates out of gaming clubs. Particularly turn based games where you can spend time shooting the shit and your attention doesn't need to be 100% focused on a screen and reacting to things in real time. I've not got a date out of dance class, but I think that can be easily attributed to the fact that I'm not comfortable or confident in my dancing at all yet. Someday, when dance feels more natural, I imagine that will become another place where extroversion naturally comes out of me. So, there's the last point I wanna make. If you don't really have a place or skill or environment that makes you feel comfortable, go out and MAKE one. Take a class, learn a skill, find a group, and partake in a group activity. Learn an instrument, take up dancing or meditative practices like yoga and tai chi, look at the classes at your local community college and sign up for a course that interests you. Take a cooking class. If you're not interesting and don't have any marketable skills, get out there and MAKE yourself interesting, GIVE yourself skills. Good luck, my friends!
