All this practising examples are wrong, because they are staged. Thats all a professional conversation. I met nobody who ask me or speak to me like this in 30 years. Job, free time, everyday life or interviews. The most people are sellers of themselves. Or its because I live in Germany. 😅

If you are trying to be like Mathew McConaughey or anyone else, then you already lack confidence and will still lack it when you try to be like them. Be yourself and that's it. Period. And some people will like you, and some won't. And be o.k. with that. And then, like people that like you. Don't chase after people that don't.

I thought that by sharing similar situations with friends, it was a way to show you understand (at least partly) what is happening to them. I had no idea it was perceived as making things about yourself. I can't see myself asking a bunch of questions to someone, it's like prying. If they want to volunteer something personal, great! But I don't want to force it out of them. So, by telling them about a similar situation I went through, we could maybe find some common experience we could share, without prying. Oh well, what do I know? When there are many possible meanings, people will always understand the worst possible version I guess.

You are cherry picking excerpts from this conversation. And you are attacking her for coming to conclusions with respect to analogies that it seems this person has brought up. Since you did not include the entire thread of conversation I have no choice but to assume this as a fact otherwise why would lobsters all of a sudden be brought into this conversation. That opens the door as they would say in a court room where rules if argument apply, to examine and ask what is the rationale behind bringing up an analogy between human beings cultures and lobster culture, Don't you think? Any disinterested party would look at this interchange and not necessarily come to the conclusions that you do with respect to the organization of these two people's arguments and in that particular case I find her so-called attack to be right on point with the absurdity of this guy's conclusions if in fact he was making an analogy between lobsters and human beings

He has a Scottish accent, he is rich, over 6' tall, and these women are specifically on his show to make people attracted to them, wearing hot clothing and more than open to laughing and seeming approachable with naughty bon mots. So YMMV.

Status seeking and demands for loyalty are two big red flags. (For the full encyclopedic list see TRUMP). I worked at a film studio where the producer called us inter the conference room and demanded we take a loyalty oath. But she couldn't clearly describe what we were expected to declare loyalty to. Turned out of course she was jus trying to protect her own job by keeping us from talking to her boss. Which leads to a third red flag: Paranoia that others are talking about them behind their back; a desperate need to control others.

The problem with these videos is that they are on a talk show. So they way people are going to be responding is that they are also likable and personable and don’t take thinks too hard no one wants to come across easily offended or anything. Also it’s entertainment and both parties know they are there for the entertainment of the viewers and edgy conversation is more fun to watch. But the way you teach it is like in interpersonal situations where it is just two people and their entire conversation isn’t for the sole purpose of entertaining other people. So while some of it translates it’s just questionable. It would be better to use actors in films and tv to demonstrate things even though it’s not real it would show how it works in more realistic situations
