The most kids (and also adults) are afraid of the dentist, but I LOVED it as a kid, i don't now why, but i really liked it to go to the Dentist and also doctor.

My dentist never had me wear rubber bands for some reason. I had a removable herbst-style retainer and then eventually the full on permanent herbst retainer But even that didnt fix my jaw issues, so when I was 17 I had surgery to move both my upper and lower jaw forward

Last week I went to the dentist after 5 years which I put off due to anxiety. I have two broken molars due to cavities and I can't wait to get back to chewing normally, videos like yours are helping me normalize going to the dentist.

I never wore my retainer. I had difficulty wearing it due to my Hawley retainer making me gag all the time. When we did the clear retainer, it just seemed to accumulate a lot of saliva, and I couldn't handle that either. I've had my braces off for about 8 years, and my teeth hardly moved at all.

I'm one year out of Invisalign and I can truly say that I am happy with my smile. It did not help with the tartar that would only build up on my lower teeth which is why I originally did it.

I used to be able to fit half my thumb behind my upper and lower bit when my teeth were closed. My orthodontist did me dirty though by only putting braces on my upper jaw. I didn't know better. Later on he was on the news for doing treatment he wasn't qualified to do as he was only a dentist. He wreacked my teeth and left me with permanent damage. I was 33.

I only WISH my mom had gotten them for me when I was a teenager! I honestly believe I wouldn’t have the dental issues I have now if I’d gotten all my teeth straightened & spaced where they should be! I guess I should have just gotten them myself when I was 18 & had my own insurance, but tbh I didn’t know it was even a thing for ‘adults’ to have them! (That was back in 2001.. lol) Both of my teenage daughters have had braces. My youngest had her first round of them when she in 2nd grade to correct a severe crossbite. (*Parents: pull your kid’s loose teeth to avoid this happening!) She’s 13 now & will have to get a second & final round of them soon to straighten them. My oldest just got her braces 1.5 years ago & the inside of her lips looked like they were all cut up! They had the white skin all over the inside that was actually cut from her brackets & hooks. It only lasted a few days & then it was fine, once she was able to get used to it, but her first week was rough! She pretty much had to “relearn” how to play her brass instruments as well due to the way her mouth/lips had changed from the braces.

By the time I got my braces off, I had been in ortho for almost half my life. My ortho treatment began with expanders at age 7 and ended with my braces off at 13. I had braces twice, not because I didn't wear my retainers, but because the first round was to correct my cross bite (age 8-9) and the second time was to correct the adult teeth that weren't already in during the first treatment and the final adjusting (ages 11-13). During my second round of braces, there was one visit I came back with power chains (top only), new, EXTREMELY THICK wires, and rubber bands all at once. That was definitely the most painful week of my life (I skipped 1-2 days of school because even Tylenol wouldn't work.) I decided for the first few painful days I would skip the rubber bands because there was already enough tension on my teeth without them, but as soon as the original pain subsided I wore my rubber band every night (except for the few where I was too tired). I wear my retainers religiously because I don't know how one could go through years of expenses and pain just to not wear retainers and waste away all that time and money. WEAR YOUR RETAINERS GUYS!!

I had terrible teeth so had to get braces as a kid with pallet expander and nighttime headgear. Well, my mom made me miss my appointments 5 times in a row and so the orthodontist basically said they wouldn't work on me anymore, and I had them removed 1 year premature, and was not given a retainer. This was over 15 years ago and my teeth look "pretty good" now today, I'm sure they went back somewhat, but they aren't even close to the monstrosity they used to be. I've been thinking of getting braces again recently or maybe invisilign because I'm not happy with my slight overbite that was never corrected, and it wouldn't hurt to fix any malocclusions that still exist in my mouth. My dentist says I don't need them, but I still kind of want them.

I'm 38 and I just get my braces this year. I'm so proud of myself because for the first time I can afford them. My teeth were really crooked.

I literally got my braces on today, I know I will get used to them but when I sat up to look at myself in the mirror I almost started crying. Just a fair warning to anyone getting braces in the future, you don't look bad, you will get used to it. I am only a few hours in and I already feel more comfortable in them!

The herbst is really not that bad. You just got to get used to it. You can also yawn without breaking it. Also they don’t just use them for people, who don’t wear rubber bands. They can also be used for people who have a severe overbite.

This is the first time I've saw your content and I need to ask you a question. Im currently having my teeth removed not all of them but a good majority of them. See when a dentist takes the xray and see you have abscesses on a few of the roots of the teeth should they A- just pull them regardless or B- give you Antibiotics to get rid then pull. My dentist has been pulling my teeth regaurdless which is causing swelling right up to my eye and i was in severe pain for more than a week n half. I do have another tooth to get extracted that has an abscess on the root and I'm not sure do I let her pull it or get the biotics first (that I haven't ever been offered). Bentist can you qnswer my question because I'm unsure if my dentist just wants to butcher me.😱😱

I had my braces and rubber bands as an adult and had them on for three years. I had to learn to say “Maryborough Hospital Pharmacy and my name speaking” which is a mouthful anyway on the phone several times every day at work. Lol wish I had that braces flosser with the rubber and grabber on the end when I had braces genius 😁

Oops ….. my top retainer wasn’t molded properly and my bottom was way too small . They wanted my parents to pay more for me to have it all remolded again…. Nope I’m good

those big wires they use at the end of tratments are no joke. An assistant was trying to take my bottom one out once and it slipped and hit my cheek and left a giant red welt on my face and it HURT

I remember that I once was walking up from my PE class and feeling that one of my brackets was broken. I was so scared that I had eaten something that broke it, but I didn't eat anything but breakfast. Turns out there was just too much pressure on it and it broke off. Was sure my parents would kill me lol

I had braces, im glad i had them but, It really takes getting used to the adjustments especially, cuz they will hurt for a bit after. Not horribly bad but still. Plus, I was a stomach sleeper at the time, so my braces on my bottom teeth would make a soar inside my mouth. Since they were being pushed against the inside of my lip at night. And I never got the clear bands on them, because it just looks like gunk on your teeth. I went more for black, or bright colors.

I got braces when I was 22 and didn’t get them taken off until I was 26. It was a long journey but worth it to have some of my overbite lessen.

I would love them AGAIN on my upper arch (3rd times a charm!!!)...I had the original Transcend brackets back in 1988 upper and lower AND the Edward's Technique/CSF in 1990..BUT, in 1991 my double 3rd molars decided to make an attempt to force their presence on my upper arch and send me back to square one although not as severe so I had the upper done again for a year back in 1995-1996 and today I want the upper done yet AGAIN at 53

Out of topic but i got a hawley retainer on the top and braces on the bottom today. The hawley retainer is soo annoying i got to sleep with it on. The 2 bottom teeth in my mouth have already started moving. I am soo happy bc 1 of the bottom tooth was behing the 2nd bottom tooth and its already straight it hasnt even been a day yet. I had an underbite and got braces but never used those rubber bands

I had a terrible overbite, so my front lower teeth were bent inward. And my brackets fell off when I ate sweet pepper, and once when I was asleep. My ortho told me it's fine, the angle is so sharp, we can't do anything... It was teeth' fault

My ortho told me to wear the bands for 2 months day and night because I had an over jet. Then he told me to wear them for another month because my top teeth were still too far forward. So I wear them for another month, and I go back with an under bite because I wore them like I was supposed to! So I had to wear them for another month in a different position to correct the under bite. The nice part is they estimated that I would get my braces off about 14 months after I got them put on, but I only needed 11 because I did everything I was supposed to. Long story short, do what your doctor says, and you might get out of braces early and you can be happy with your beautiful smile! 😁

Question: Why is it you never talk about full dental implants? I had some and they broke when I bit into a soft cinnamon bear. not stuck it it, I mean bit down and heard a crunchy sound, they came off and left me with nice little metal rods sticking out after slightly less than 2 years of having them (and yes, I did take care of them and didn't make it a habit to see how hard of stuff I could bite that would account for the failure) So...I'd love some of your video wisdom on these.

My teeth broke the retainer and my dentist told me to keep wearing it as it was still doing its job. It never worked and then I went to other dentist who both said that they should have done braces. Because my bite is deep overbite and it’s quite hard to move

If you wear brace wear the retainer, relapse is not good for your teeth, your teeth can get shortened and might not be able to remain in a stable position

Tip: after coming from the dentist like have your teeth drilled and stuff eat some or get some ICECREAM it kinda helps bc Ice cream is cold sooo hope this helps!❤😊
