I miss some of Daiwa's old reels that does come with worm gears. The line lays are still top notch, but yeah, any Shimano spinning reels that comes with worm gears are almost perfect when it comes to line laying. Wish some of Daiwa's new high-end reels will go back to worm gears. I don't mind the over size drive gears, but a lot of the times, it's a ball bearing issue and not the gears if fished correctly. I have almost all of the high-end spinning reels. But still can't wait to get my hands on the new 23 Stradic M series in the next couple months. A bit heavy, but super solid in performance. Great video Victor. Keep em coming.

the exceller line lay should be exactly as what you see on this picture here... If worse than that, maybe you put line too thick or some other issue. Great vid! My only suggestion is to test the lines with the knots used while fishing, and to compare the strength with the initial test this gives a better overall idea of line quality as not all knot the same. Thanks keep up the content of great quality gear!

everyone uses different knots and everyone ties them differently. Most people know that the knot will reduce the breaking strength. As a matter of fact, at the end of the video i recommend always tying a leader just so u control where the line breaks when u get hung..

Hey mate, just wanted to mention, you were right, lol. On the Exist SF, it is true that it's a more finesse Exist, but more so in terms of just being a smaller lighter reel, however it really isn't that much more "free" to turn 😂. I'd say it's on par with the new Vanquish, infact the 1000ssspg Vanquish is already about the same size as the 1000 SF to be honest, and despite being double the price the SF doesn't have any ultralight advantage. I think at this point the only real reason to go there in terms of if you care about performance and nothing else (as of course the Exist is still the higher quality reel which many people value), then the only real upgrade is to go an Exist Sensitive tuned by SLP (where you either send yours to them and they rework it to reduce inertia and resistance, or you buy the SLP semi order exist direct from them and select to have the sensitive tune body whilst building it on their website). If you ain't gonna do that, the Vanquish has the same performance for half the price. And yes, SLP are offering a Sensitive tune service for the SF too, which is all I really needed to say 😂.
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish Жыл бұрын
thats the first feedback i get on this reel. Where are u from? Why don't u send me one for review? : ) Do u remember 2017 Presso Limited? I said many videos ago that i am waiting for 2024 Presso Limited, that will be based on that Exist SF, but completely stripped of Magseal and with some lighter grease. Just like the current Presso is a Luvias stripped out of Magseal and with lighter grease. Same but with the Exist SF. Maybe some downgrade on something that doesn't matter, so to bring the price down to $500...

@@ifishcatfish Would be the dream, Daiwa definitely have the facilities to do it. The manufacturing quality of their Japanese made reels is unmatched (only Stella FK compares), but they just don't seem to care as much for the UL anglers as they used to, which hurts them no doubt. I mean imagine if they just made a zero inertia/resistance Airity, no magseal some light grease and maybe some special low friction bearings, even that would be an absolutely perfect UL reel... It's such a big miss. I'm always torn in this argument because personally it urks me that the Vanquish just isn't there in terms of how good reels can feel, but for ultralight it has the performance everyone wants, so it's always a toss up that the Vanquish usually wins purely based on that factor, a Daiwa actually focused on perfecting free spinning would make it easier. Again they can do it, the SLP sensitive tuned reels are legit exactly that, and SLP are a part of Daiwa themselves haha, but they need to stop doing it that way and just make a reel exactly like it from stock, like they did with the Presso LTD and 17 Steez, but with all the new tech (as much as I love the Presso LTD it's hard to deny that it does feel kinda dated at the point).

Can you explain how Daiwa’s reverse taper spool works for better casts?
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 10 ай бұрын
It doesnt. It reduces line slipping out and making nests.
@exitar1
@exitar1 10 ай бұрын
@@ifishcatfish I found this on Daiwa site A maximized core diameter and reversed taper mean 100% useable line, with no more "dead" line buried in a deep core. You can fill it with line right up to the edge of the spool lip without fear of tangles. The ABS reverse tapered design causes less casting friction for longer and easier casting.
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 10 ай бұрын
@@exitar1 like i said, it reduces slipping out since the line is its own brake. But doesn't increase distance. If anything it reduces it
@exitar1
@exitar1 10 ай бұрын
In contrast to classic cylindrical spool designs, ABS spools are tapered to limit the risks of tangling on the cast. What’s more, the lip reduces friction to boost casting distance. The new ABSII design has been optimised to let you reach record distances on the cast. @@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish 10 ай бұрын
@@exitar1 No, you will not get any records with any daiwa reel! The reason they went with this reverse taper is because they can't lay the line flat on the first place. The line on the bottom of the spool has a DIP in front of it, if you can imagine that, and its very easy for the coils at the back of the spool to slip out. Shimano doesn't have this problem! But daiwa does. To compensate for that, they came up with this stupid reverse taper desin, so the coils on the back of the spool don't just fall off the spool. Then, to hide and justify all of this, they write this marketing nonsense. The truth is that even the Exist cannot cast as far a Ultegra.

@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish Жыл бұрын
first of all, GET RID OF PHOBIAS that u can do this wrong! If u do no backing line at all, it will still cast pretty much perfect, because the spool is so shallow. If you look at bass anglers with the deep spools, they always leave a lot of space under the spool, much more than this completely empty spool. So its more important not to overfill it. You cannot underfill it. One crank of the handle puts about 3.5 feet of line, so 20 cranks of the handle will be about 70 feet. Thats about enough. Make sure your backing line is NO MORE than 0.15mm, so not to bunch up at the end

greetings Victor, here I am again with a question :) you already know that I fish at sea and that it is a little different there than on rivers and lakes. I use a braid. I'm looking for a thin and high-quality one, but ygk, varivas, duel are very expensive or unavailable in my country. I even thought about some varivas monofilament, but I am put off by their load capacity. all these varivas nylons seem the same to me, they just change the color and the name. most of the same diameters have the same load capacity in lb. I know it's not like that, but varivas doesn't appeal to me. the only one that caught my eye that has a good carrying capacity is the VARIVAS Nylon Line Super Trout Area SVG. Have you tried that nylon? Also, there is AJING MASTER Blue Moon, which is intended for horse mackerel, but also, it has a low carrying capacity. well, that's when I came across one mono: Duel The One 150 m Monofilament! have you heard of him? thin and has excellent carrying capacity. for example, 0.3 pe (0.09mm) has a load capacity of 5.6 lb (2.5 kg)? Do you have any more information about that monofilament (I hope it's not like Berkley's nanofilament...)?
@ifishcatfish
@ifishcatfish Ай бұрын
I have the SVG nylon, i find it overrated. Not that strong. Varivas has some of the strongest lines in the world. Labels are a poor way to judge line as everybody lies brazenly on the labels. I can make a line and put whatever i want on the label. Varivas, YGK, Sunline, Daiwa, Shimano, Seaguar.. all of these lines have very similar strength per diameter because this is the level of technology available. You have the wrong attitude about line. If you care about label, you will end up with some garbage from ebay or aliexpress.

Great video! I just bought my first UL rod (Yamage Blue Current III) and am pairing with a 1000 Exceler. I am new to this area and it seems like ester line to fluro is the way to go if I am using small jugs in 2-20ft of water. I like high-vi line for tracking however want to avoid break offs which I think will happen a bit as I learn proper technique. Is there a thicker gauge ester line than a 2.3lb you might recommend? Does Varivas have a 3 or 3.5lb? Thanks

I don't recommend Ester line for beginners. It is very difficult to use and very brittle. U can use your high viz line as long as it is THIN, no more than 0.14mm. I don't care for pounds, don't tell me pounds, found nylon or fluorocarbon less than 0.14mm and u can use high viz, nothing wrong with that. I use Ester for sensitivity, not for strength. Strength of ester is very poor, compared to nylon and FC
