Every time Iga slices it brings a smile to my face. I knew that we would see the same old on the clay because she owns it, but it’s nice to see some clear tactical changes on the grass. This year will be a breakthrough for her at Wimbledon I hope, QF or better.

They really should have Roland Garros 1 or 2 weeks earlier and Wimbledon 1 or 2 weeks later so there can be a longer grass court season.Could push out the US Open by a week or 2 also.

Then there are even more clay tournaments after grass is over. Their should be defined seasons IMO. Also there should be a grass Masters 1000 event as well. Grass season is just too short and it’s the best!!

There are two few venues with good quality grass I believe to make it last longer. Grass is expensive and you need to prepare it way in advance which makes the venues less profitable. The idea is nice but not realistic imo.

Maria is a very tricky opponent, doubles specialist with great net skills. Grass is het favourite surface- after she got to Wimbledon's semis last year loosing to Ons i a highly contested 3 sets encounter. Overall, considering the grass being the least of Iga's favourite surfaces, she did v.well apart from a bit of mess in 1s. Her statistics were very impressive. I was pleasantly surprised how well she served. Great improvement. Let's hope she continues on the same level or better in Bad Homburg and at Wimbledon. It was nice to see few words in Polish between these two at the end of the match. Maria has Polish roots as well. Good luck and jazda Iga!

Iga's still learning how to play on grass, but with every match she feels better and better. Her coach knows what's he's doing - he coached Radwańska who played in Wimbledon's final and SF. Still Iga hasn't met big hitter on grass.

Świetny mecz. Raszynianka górą. Decydujące znaczenie - jak widzielimśy - miał skuteczny pierwszy serwis polskiej zawodniczki, znakomite returny po serwisach przeciwniczki, mała liczba własnych niewymuszonych błędów oraz urozmaicona gra z częstymi skrótami i wypadami pod siatkę. Brawo Iga. W perspektywie turnieju w Londynie to bardzo dobry prognostyk. Najważniejsze, że Iga wyciąga wnioski i gra coraz lepszy tenis. Tak trzymać!

Incredible effort from Maria. She finished her final in Gaiba less than 24 hours before playing this match. She ran out of gas in the end but she definitely proved why she was a Wimbledon semi-finalist last year!

Yeah, but the stadium looks very small, probably not difficult to fill it. I could also imagine that in an unassuming town like Bad Homburg, this tournament is possibly the most spectacular event of the year.

Żeby Iga nie bała się grac woleja….wiele piłek skończyłaby szybciej. Albo ona specjalnie lubi sobie poodbijać z rywalką i ją zamęczyć fizycznie prawa-lewa. 1/ Dobry % 1st serve (szkoda ze nie płaski plasowany) 2/ sporo slajsa jak na Igę 3/ niezle poruszanie się na trawie Ja widzę sporawy postęp u Igi na trawie.

In the first set of the showdown, Iga had adaptation setbacks on the grass surface. I surmised that Iga was going to revive her dynamism, efficiency and movement in order to gain the second and deciding set. Moreover, her techniques have enhanced as of the second set. It enabled Polish competitor to compete more robust and steadfast than Tatjana Maria. It was utterly a lucid outcome on the behalf of Iga Swiatek. JAZDA!!!

Proszę Was, ja wiem, że chcecie dobrze, ale granie na trawie to zupełnie inna rzeczywistość. Nie można się ślizgać przy dobieganiu do piłki (specjalność Igi), różnica w koźle jest diametralna, stąd taki ważny jest tu serwis, prawidłowo zagrany znacząco utrudnia return i ustawia wymianę. To zresztą widać od razu, że Iga ma z tym kozłem i wysokością returnowanej piłki spory problem, odbiór to jej spory atut na innych nawierzchniach (jest w tym najlepsza na świecie), na trawie całkowicie to traci. Takie zachowanie piłki po zetknięciu z ziemią zachęca do grania skrótu (tzw dropshotu), co z kolei wymaga nierzadko kontynuowania wymiany przy siatce, grania różnego rodzaju wolejów, w których Iga też się nie czuje. Do tego kwestia rotacji piłki, między innymi dlatego na trawie tak często gra się tzw slice, jeśli się nie ma doświadczenia w takich wymianach, po których piłka ciągle kręci się raz to w jedną, raz w drugą stronę, jak się nie ma doświadczenia w takiej grze, to łatwo o błędy. I tak gra na traciła część swojej specyfiki od czasu zmiany wysokości trawy na Wimbledonie, bez tego praktycznie 90% obecnych zawodniczek nie potrafiłaby na niej grać. Ta zmiana mocno faworyzuje "przebijaczki", ale jednak mimo wszystko trzeba podejść do gry zupełnie inaczej. Tenis juniorski nie ma zazwyczaj prawie żadnego przełożenia na dalsze etapy kariery i jego poziom pozwala na przykrycie wielu mankamentów i, jak to państwo określili, "wchodzisz na kort i uderzasz" (ale nawet i tak jest to spore uproszczenie). Proszę zatem zrozumieć, że to wszystko nie przychodzi tak łatwo, jak się powszechnie zdaje, jakikolwiek sukces na Wimbledonie (na chwilę obecną zajście dalej niż ćwierćfinał) to wynik naprawdę potężnej pracy.

In the first set IGA was practicing...But i wonder why she didnt try out few drops.Against hard hitting base liners , drops could be an excellent weapon. Iga should do it on grass for getting that coveted trophy. She did that quite often with aplomb during her junior Wimbledon title match.

Iit seems Swiatek would need plenty more warmup matches on grass, her least favorite, to stay competitive with all the surface's top guns. Here even as her opponent hit off the backhand with just defensive slices most of the time and a few more on the forehand side as well she still struggled in the first set. She figured that weakness in time while playing her own game with no unnecessary rushes however.
