Dang bro, I'm sorry to point it out, but two 7mm bolts to take that 2nd plate off, four 16mm nuts to take off that small crossmember you were fighting the whole time. It comes out seperate from the main dash frame. Everything is out in the open, and you can wrap that wire however you'd like, with plenty of room.

You sir are a lifesaver! my truck had no tac, no spedo, and was stuck in 3rd gear, the forums pointed to the ignition switch and turns out they were right took off that bracket holding the harness together and it was only slightly a pain in the butt you don't neeeeeeeed that bracket anyway

There is one 7mm bolt holding the housing on where the harness connects under the dash. I took that bolt off and it connected with no issue. Saved a few hours of cursing and pain! Thanks for this video dude. It’s been a huge help!

I couldnt fit that 1/4 " socket on my 2000 gmc 3500 , it takes a special tool , i managed to get them out and i threw them away , put matching thread phillips head screws in it , now my truck is worth more ..😂 Also that green and black wire is the key is in the ignition chime , put your pic in the top and turn the white plastic clockwise it twists right out

thank you so much for making this video. i was in this process, and couldn't figure out the small connector underneath. I would have never known to look inside that insulation wrapping for the connection. you made my day!

This right here!! I was getting ready to pull this mf to a mechanic because I thought it was up on the steering column and I couldn’t figure out how to get it out. SAVED MY WHOLE ASS TODAY!🙌 wish I could like this video a thousand times

The female e torx sockets you can get deep well from harbor freight. Now back in the 50's the Chevrolet had clutch head screws that was a real treat.

What is the purpose of the connection with the foam wrap in the bottom do i need to plug it in?

Great vid. Guess I am weird. I knew it was an e-torx and I already have a set of them in the garage... which I had to buy while working on my Firebird years ago. Just GM making sure that we have all the tools. :-)

Of course the only e-torx i didn't have was the one I needed. And Harbor Freight was the only one that had a 4. Way couldn't they just use Phillip head screws. But no. I have to buy a hole another set of sockets for one I'll never use again. Great video. Thank you

What was initial problem that started this ball of doom rolling? This is gonna be part of my parts shotgun firing at an intermittent vehicle complete shutdown like the key is turning itself off? Fk🤬

Believe it or not i had like 5 things going bad that all contribute to starting issues. Its amazing i ever got it to run lol....the sneaky one was a short in my battery cable...if i twist it upward i lose power downward i get power back
