This video was a godsend. I'm a female, almost three times older than my '97 1500. 🧓 I looked at every KZfaq I could find and this is the only one that mentioned taking off that freakin bar. I had to get a friend with a huge drill to get the bolts off, but no way I could have mounted that assembly with that bar in the way. I can't thank you enough for this video. I can tell you made it out of the kindness of your heart.

By any chance did it affect your ac controls ? When mine messed up I have no fan control ac or anything either

I’m trying to see if my ignition switch is bad, my truck has power radio turns on, but no voltage gauge isn’t doing anything and fuel pump won’t kick on and it won’t run. Also would randomly die before this point wether I was driving or idling. What was ur symptoms.

A harness just doesn't go bad unless it's rubbing up against metal causing a short.

The wiring harness itself may not go bad but that assembly goes bad all the time. The ignition contacts on the key switch that sends the signal to the ignition relay just wore out on my '97 C3500. Those things go bad so much most parts stores keep them in stock. The '97 is little unique but there are several years that are very similar and look identical.

@@CarterQuillenP.E. that's a switch issue not a wiring harness issue. Connections on harnesses can be repaired. Only time I have ever replace the harnesses if they're literally burned up.

@@jamesm568 It's a wiring harness ASSEMBLY. If a switch or contact in it fails then the assembly is broken, even if the wires aren't fried and a component can be repaired. To declare this particular WIRING HARNESS "hardly ever fails" is a misstatement imo. That was my point.
