"II: AN UNSPOKEN NARRATIVE" (written and directed by Sean Lew) tells the story about one guy going through life alone while learning the concept of balance in an unconventional way expressed by the form of movement and storytelling. We hope to take you on a journey within a story of life experiences revolving around balance where two different concepts make you realize your worst moment to make your great moments greater. Every part of this film is up for interpretation upon your lives.

My interpretation: Sean and Kaycee played a couple who broke up… both had cuts and scars from each other since the beginning, and because of their youth, lacked experience and feared the outside world, until Kaycee decided to walk away from the abuse and find herself. The message is that before you can fully give yourself to someone, before you can find balance in a friendship or a relationship, you must first find balance within yourself and conquer the questions and fears which haunt you the most. We can see the main character grow as he goes through each scenario, finding out who he is and gaining independence and helping others after losing his love, so that he can truly accept who he is and forgive the mistakes that they both made while processing and going through the steps of what caused them to break up in the first place… and he wanted to do that to build himself up again and eventually make up for the things he did. It’s really a beautiful story. At the beginning, I thought it was odd, but as I’m watching all of this, I’m falling more and more in love with the characters and… although there are no spoken words, there is still a story! I love this work

It is clear that these two have lived a life together before and loved each other. Their love for each other is so pure and unconditional, it is beyond any other worldly dimension. The way he touches her, picks her up, and sets her down gently is love. The way she trusts him to not let her fall is love. She can move freely and be herself with him because he will always be there to protect and catch her.

So true. However, I did have one disagreement and that is with "when is it ever a waste of time to love somebody?" Answer: when that person doesn't deserve your love. When that person doesn't love you and so they use you instead. When someone pretends to return your feelings until they find what they want (and they know that it's not you).

Yup. I waited a year and half to watch it because I knew it would wreck me. Since the first dance I ever saw them do, I knew there was something otherworldly going on, something cosmic. And that's not me being hyperbolic. This film is something I deeply connect to, having been on a similar journey of spiritual awakening through my connection to someone else. They're so young, I can't imagine going through something so enormous at such a young age, but the beauty of it is now they have the rest of their lives together in peace. But the questions asked and themes explored here are so profound and touch me deeply because I've gone through every single stage that Sean tells the story of. I know it's all layered and for sure there are things he's expressing that I've missed, but it really spoke to me. The fear of loving someone so deeply, of letting them go, of trying to figure out who you are without them. The doubt that plagued me, not only about who I am and what I'm here for, but about my feelings for this other person. About what our connection was and what it meant. I could FEEL when Kaycee came back and they danced to Ocean Eyes the joy and bliss and completion. Whenever they align in that mirrored dancing you can FEEL the connection. It's Divine. And then they separate again and it's devastating. And I've been in that dark night of the soul, that place where there's nothing but pain and you don't know who you are or why you're here when they're gone. And then the awakening, the remembering. The soul-level remembering. Because we have to remember to find out who we truly are. And then all the questioning, your mind trying to make sense of it all. I've been through that. When he asked "Why would she leave me? Did I do something wrong?" I straight up cried. Because that constant running and chasing is SO exhausting. And then you ARE at war with yourself because your head says to move on, to let them go, to stand on your own. And you start wondering if you're asking for too much, that they give you too much. If it's wrong to feel so empty without them. If you're not supposed to hold on so tightly. And then you shut yourself down, you close yourself off because it just hurts when they leave. And there's no guarantee they'll stay because they're always running. And sometimes, so are you. There's this ancient dance of these energies, the divine feminine and masculine; it's never-ending. Just like dark and light, doubt and hope, giving and receiving. Pushing and pulling, back and forth, trying to get free from one another, never able to get far. It hurting when you're far, it hurting when you're close. And it's this process of evolution through all of that. Through the pain, the fear, the doubt, the darkness, the noise, through fighting with yourself. And we come out the other side and realize that love is all that's real, when it's unconditional. And it's our natural state of being. So, we let ourselves be vulnerable, and we let ourselves be in pain (go through the dark), and we ourselves apologize, and forgive, and heal and then finally, hopefully open up to the realest and most divine love we could never imagine experiencing. The purity of this narrative, the emotionality, the sacredness....it blew me away. When he said "you're the missing piece", I cried for the second time. There are so many of us learning how to be independent and love ourselves fully alone, and that's a beautiful journey. But some of us are here to learn to accept the exact opposite, which is that we didn't spring into being alone, that we're part of a greater connectivity and it's okay to need that connection. It's okay to feel it makes you whole.

I really feel the need to response on this comment and the film as whole. First of all, thank you for writing this extensive comment and Sean thank you for creating this masterpiece. Accidentally I stumbled upon this comment through an instagram story post of Sean, not being aware of this movie at all. Lately, I had a very negative relationship with Instagram wanting to step out of that world. But now I can really see the beauty of it again, because without a subtle scroll throughout my stories I would never have read this comment and watch this video, which is the most appreciated encounter of the past few months. (I have teary eyes while writing this.) Me and my ex had a harsh past. We were scarred by experiences in the first twenty-one years of our life which led to big emtional bagagage. Although the subject of the issues differed, we were able to find each other, understand each others pain and support each other in carrying each others baggage and provide love. Finally, the load was not so heavy anymore and life started to treat us well. Three years later including one year of living together (four months ago), she broke up and said goodbye. Never ever in my life have I felt so bad as when she packed her stuff and left the house to her mom's. I felt so alone and experienced the worst weeks of my life. That loneliness is something I will never forget and hits me everytime I think about it. Slowly I tried to pull myself together. Distract my mind and body from the heartbreaking situation that I felt twenty-four hours a day, seven days in the week. I started to write and analyse everything that has happened. Really tried to understand what she has said in the last conversations and truly listen to the deeper meaning behind those words and what they mean to me. This most deep level of sadness and pain, awakened my spirituality. As someone who went fast paced through life without taking any breaks, there was no room for emotions and healing. Therefore, the bag stayed heavy. I did not work to make my bag lighter. Too bad I only realised my own shortcomings when she was not carrying it anymore. Being in a safe environment with unconditional love made me spoiled and made me blind to the fact that you can also lose it again. Finally, my bag is becoming lighter. Through spiritual harmony between my thoughts, actions and the deeper meaning inside me, I am removing pieces from my bag bit by bit. Currently, I am in the end of scene six and in the start of scene seven when encountering this video. Seeing the movie I am literally blown away emotionally. I feel a deep connection with this movie because it touches all main topics from what I experienced in my own personal live. I can finally accept that it is okay to have doubts and fears. To yearn for her attention while also trying to let her go. Such contradicting feelings make you insecure about which actions to take. Through this movie I feel supported and wiser. It reinforces my evolution. - Again, thank you for taking the time and effort to write this comment because it clarifies what I am seeing.- - Thank you Sean for creating this modern masterpiece of art.- ^These two in combination are the most beautiful gift I received in a long time.

JR, thank you so much for putting into words everything I also thought, felt, and experienced with Sean’s film. I found S&K just a few months prior to the film’s release and was instantly a fan, although fan doesn’t seem like the right word. I’ve always loved creative works, especially dance, and even more so when it’s used to communicate. But, my goodness, watching them has moved me beyond my own comprehension. I’ve rarely felt so tuned in to a dance the way I am when watching them. They convey so much feeling in what they do. This film was just beyond words for so many reasons. You summed them up so perfectly. Even down to the “unsaid words” and tears I shed. I’m not sure how someone so young has such an incredible ability to speak to the heart and soul, of people at any age, with such clarity and brevity! The last scene was truly incredible. From the moment he realizes she’s been the “missing piece” and when he panics at her anger, it appears he says I can’t do this without you and that just shattered me. His ability to figure out that she, and what she brings to his life, is a crucial piece of his existence. And love (while perhaps not the type he wanted or expected maybe?) is literally EVERYTHING in life and how we survive everything else. I’m sure we all interpreted much of this slightly differently, and that’s the expectation, but I do hope that one universal message was heard and felt by all and that is to never stop giving your love and yourself, regardless of the way it’s received, because of fear. There is so much good and beauty in being able to just let go and accept that! Likewise, to release our own expectations and rules for what we are willing to receive back. We can’t control that and that is ok :-) I’m forever grateful for the existence of Sean Lew in this crazy world. I hope he has the most fulfilling life possible and never loses his light. He’s a gift to us all.

it's 1:44am on new year's day in australia and i'm finally deciding to watch this. i've been a fan of sean for a long time but i worried that i didn't have the maturity to understand the effort and care that went into this film. like he said in the kinjaz podkast, i didn't want to be one of the people who thought this film was 'too abstract'. he deserves more than a half-assed attempt at engaging with his work. i wouldn't really consider myself a creative person. i'm the kind that walks around an art gallery and struggles to make sense of the exhibitions. so i really thought that this was gonna be way out of my league but so far, i feel really sad. i know that sean and kaycee replicate a romantic couple but the push and pull mirrors my relationship with my mum. it's been hard to achieve a balance with her and scene 5 hits a bit too close to home. like sean and kaycee, we always appear to have a breakthrough and i get the hope that we'll connect again but then all of a sudden, i'm back to being by myself, fighting to mend the relationship without her. and it just got worse with scene 6 which perfectly depicted the sadness, anxiety and anger that you have to work so hard to overcome. it's liberating and almost cathartic. only after do you feel like you can truly breathe. and the film continues to call me out. i am all of the women in the park in scene 7. you see how each one pleads in desperation to have their partner hear them out but they're all talking to a wall and at some point, you just give up. and then in the last scene, you inadvertently put up your walls and can't open yourself up to love anymore. i hope i get to have the resolution that sean and kaycee did. :) tbh i don't think i'm ever gonna see all of the nuances and a lot is probably going over my head but i think that's okay. and i think that while a film without dialogue can seem intimidating to the average consumer, this is definitely worth a watch. i wanna thank sean for making this and enlightening me. i hope to be less of a cynic and believe that where there is love, there is life.

In the final scene where Sean and Kaycce are sitting in the treehouse, the poster has an effect on Kaycee's eyes. ONLY IN KAYCEE. And Sean hands her the camera at the end, it's like saying: show your perspective, you're in charge. Just like he did at the beginning ... he clicked on the camera first to start the film. Kaycee rotates the film on the camera, because with each photo it is necessary to rotate the film to make the next photo. So, in III will we have Kaycee's perspectives? She will tell her story in reverse, from the end to the beginning. Or from there, will she have a new story about her perspective? OMGGGGG..I’m freaking 🤯🤯 anyway i know it will be a masterpiece. Is it already filmed ?? was made together with II? or will we have to wait a few years for release? SEAN LEW U ARE INSANE 🤘🏻🧠

Me too! Just so much emotional build up and then the wonderful payoff.

@@jayltee Exactly!! And it's so beautiful yet confusing bc i am not particularly intuitive in these things so i didn't understand the storyline completely and still i had so much emotions at the end that i couldn't help but sob uncontrollably. I guess that's the magic of Sean and kaycee 🤧

the last scene was so beautiful ! you could tell there was something special in their eyes. and in all the scenes where they were 2 in general, there was a connection, it's so beautiful. thank you very much for this masterpiece, it makes us feel much better in our dark hours.

Ocean Eyes choreography was beautiful. And I want the treehouses where Kaycee and Sean danced on the bridges. Great work!
