Thank you for this! Just about to have my installer install the cambridge and I am not a shingle expert. Reading the warranty paperwork is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind spending a little more on a better quality shingle, but after watching this it makes way more sense and wasn't worth the added cost. Same warranty. Same weather resistance ect.

I'm doing a IKO Dynasty 7/12 in Alberta cold right now. I couldn't be happier for the homeowner and myself at this x. Good job on the specs digital roofing, If we're a gaf or BP I wouldn't want to be doing this job right now for the owner or myself, not at all. Dynasty wins overall in the install on my comfort zone.

Great video! I feel like we are always using IKO Cambridge and its a solid shingle . Dynasty does have the wider Nail line which is nice, but all in all I agree with you on the Cambridge line.

I think IKO gets a bad rap because of some of the things that happened in the past, but they've discontinued all of those shingles. I think both the Cambridge and Dynasty are solid shingles and if everything else on the roofing system is installed properly, these are going to last a very long time. The only problem I've had with IKO is when they are first installed, they do have a little more granule loss. If you haven't subscribed yet, we've got a lot of other great videos coming out!

OC duration is the best for the money & minimal defects. Malarkey in hail zones.

Hi does the Cambridge always come in in boxes like you displayed, I saw a contractor showed us the product and they were in rolls

Bundles of shingles come in plastic wrappers rather than boxes. And shingles never come in rolls - You were likely shown the underlayment/tar paper or moisture barrier or similar - which do come in rolls.

I'm supposed to get Dynasty shingles installed and now I'm panicking that they're crappy. Has the company dealt with some of the earlier negative reviews? It sounds like the granule loss is still an issue. Do I need to be worried about this being a poor shingle and causing me headaches in the future?

Sophia, it's been a while since we offered this, but I think to offer the SPP 15-Year Iron Clad Warranty, you have to be in their program. Have you checked with your local IKO Rep?

Doesn't IKO have the worse rating for the texture beads always falling off and a low score for dents due to hail?

Colette, we've discussed the granules in some of our other videos about IKO, but as for the shingles more apt to hail damage, we haven't seen that really.

I currently have the IKO Cambridge National Blue....and have wind damage to many shingles. My shingles have been discontinued however the insurance adjuster says I can use IKO Dynasty Atlantic Blue for the repairs. Are they compatible and is the color the exact same formula? Or is the adjuster just trying to save his insurance company from installing a new roof?

We had IKO Cambridge Weatherwood installed Nov 2016 and Jan 2024 some blew off on two separate occasions. One of those times the shingles hit two of our cars in our driveway damaging paint on the one and paint and windshield on the other. We were unable to reach the contractor that installed the roof. We called another contractor who told us we needed a new roof, both times he patched it. More blew off in March and our original contractor said he would send someone with same color and fix everything. He never showed up! We have no choice other than to put on another roof. The contractor that will be putting on our newest roof states the IKO shingles never adhered and are flopping in the breeze. We've opened a claim with IKO and await their response.

Isn't the Dynasty now rated class 4 for impact resistance, whereas the Cambridge is not rated?

If I'm only being charged $140 more in total (flat upgrade) to get the Dynasty shingles installed over the Cambridge shingles, instead of the thousands of dollars mentioned in this video at 6:25, does that sound like a no brainer or is there something up here?

I guess the 300$ premium for a 26 square roof was well worth the upgrade from Cambridge to Dynasty. 😮

Architectural shingles will have more granule loss than earlier lighter cheaper shingles because of extra added physical weighted form. More granules compressed in the shingle composite will have loose granules on the install but not the overall layout of the form system, so it has nothing to do with the integrity really. There's no bald spots on the surface and it adheres to each shingle flat and square which is the second most important with the features and correct no fail nail pattern which is integral not cosmetic. Nails are 80% of holding strength to emphasize and aquarium flat layouts are the positional overall critical element for a lasting shingle as that if you don't have a flat laying shingle you are susceptible to have a shingle wear out before its time meaning the home structure has to be presentably level for the shingle to do its job. Example is I seen a motel redo its shingles less than 10 years because of sagging plywood warping the shingle. Correct nailing prompts are significant for wind resistance and grab and so is the level of the building surfaces.. The shingle relies on the home owner and the installer hands down. Again, good post digital roofing but homeowners need reassurance picking at what they don't know or see. 🌟👍

Crack me up how there's so many of these guys on KZfaq trying to make money selling products that suck instead of going out and doing the work. Reminds me of the gold rush days when some guys got rich selling tools that also sucked, because they had no clue how to find gold/work. Kind of like this guy, he's so lazy he can't stay up while trying to sale you on some of the worst shingle on the market. Abd what the F--K does DIGITAL have to do with any roofing.

In your mind, complaining about the normalization of racism & white supremacy is "being an easily manipulated pawn that’s under control of bi-partisan politics." By that logic, you could associate with child molesters, but as long as you also associate with people who aren't child molesters, then it's all good. But I know, analogies like this are too abstract for you to comprehend. If you were smart enough to understand any of this, you wouldn't be on white supremacist networks in the first place.
