(1:21) ..... - DON'T YOU DARE make fun of this Group, Empress! ...they are veryveryveryveryVERY important to 80's R&B, Dance, Euro-Pop, and all the acts YOU like....they were sampled in Mariah's tune "Get Your Number", and SHE knows how IMPORTANT they are.... - ....Imagination was a Euro-Group that released this tune late 1981; It was a MONSTER smash in Dance Clubs (Spring 1982), & became the blueprint to 80's Dance Music & 'Electro-Funk'.... Madonna's debut LP was influenced by it...WHAM! copied off it...Prince injected the feel of it into "1999"....Michael Jackson's "Thriller" LP / Video had the 'feel' of it.....see how important they are!?? - ...after this tune, Melba Moore, Kashif, Shalamar, O'Bryan, The System, Robert Palmer, David Bowie, etc. were influenced by this electronic track, and it was EVERYWHERE by Summer 1983....the tune couldn't chart on the Dance charts because it was an 'Import', but it was VERY popular..... You had to be there but this is classic playing in clubs radio stations I was in high school but you heard this everywhere yes 80s cheese videos but nobody cared about that your talking about 1981 it was about hitting the dance floor.

I wonder why Imagination never caught on in America? These guys were on par with a number of funk and soul artists of the era. Too bad they were never recognizable. This is how they are subsequently discovered by younger generations.

I am sorry but It would be better off just listening the audio if the clothes and style of the various eras can be that much of a distraction. There were several videos around that time playing with the gothic ideas. I really had to struggle through this to see which version of the video it would be, the bit censored one or the one with a ghost of half naked woman on the bed.

Very cheesy! And this guy cannot sing! It may have a catchy beat, but it isn't because of him. Any teenager could have squeaked this out into a mic with lots of reverb. I read @RBS's comments about the popularity of this song I danced my way through some of the biggest clubs in Los Angeles, and I can tell you we never heard this song, not in 1982, or ever!
