When they finally added a Dolby Cinema room into our local AMC it was a game changer. First movie we saw in Dolby was Bohemian Rhapsody and the concert portion of the movie we still talk about to this day. Personally it’s the better experience with added comfort and worth the money every time.

At my theater, I prefer Dolby, the seats are more comfortable which helps when watching long films. Also the sound quality and vibrations of the seats are amazing. The IMAX seats are very uncomfortable.

! For a movie like "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," IMAX or Dolby Cinema would both be great choices. Imax vs Dobly at Amc 16 Burbank. Well the Imax have plush rockers while the Dolby theatres have recliners. That's a big deal to me. Not being that close to the person seating next to you is amazing.

Not many true IMAX Theaters around. So I do prefer Dolby over IMAX because of that. Especially watching Dune 2. The sound and seats shaking feels like you're in the movie. They'll def. win awards once again for the score and sound design. Incredibly immersive.

Yeah, finding a true IMAX theater can be like looking for a needle in a haystack sometimes. Dolby's got that vibe with the sound and the seats that just pulls you right into the action. A very poor video, not only do you talk about Dolby cinema whilst showing TV systems, you are comparing Dolby Cinema to 75mm IMAX, but the comparison should be to IMAX laser, which is the system found in most IMAX cinemas. IMAX 75mm is vastly superior to Dolby Cinema in terms of image quality.

@@bossedo IMAX didnt disappoint me. The stero was good enough to feel the bounce and visual is as perfect as it can be. Id definitely recommend to see Dune on IMAX.

Very few real imax theatres left as well as laser imax vs xenon projectors. I believe the iMax near me has recliners as well now but it’s not the true imax I once saw visiting San Francisco. Dolby as well differs slightly my usual place has giant red speakers while the place closer to me has smaller blue speakers.

It's all about balancing tradition with the need to modernize and enhance the viewer's comfort. Regarding Dolby Cinema, the color of the speakers doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of sound. The technology behind them, which Dolby is famous for, is what truly matters. Still, I can understand why a different look might give a different perception of the experience. @@hifiaudios8101 I can safely say some Dolby theaters are louder then others. A lot of the newer ones have smaller speakers as well as are the 1.8 screen size version. I had the chance to see a 2.39 widescreen Dolby for mission impossible which is a 2.39 movie. I think if the movie is 2.39 it’s very worth going the extra mile to see it properly in a Dolby theater with the bigger wider screen

BTW, quick diff for ya: IMAX is all about massive screens and super sharp images. Dolby Cinema? It's got amazing contrast, colors, and killer sound. Hope that helps a bit!

@@hifiaudios8101 IMAX with 4K Laser projection is almost the same as Dolby when it comes to contrast and specular highlights. The difference is almost negligible. In terms of sound, well, ATMOS has an advantage when it comes to individual objects, but the 12 track audio mixes from IMAX in combination with the bass will blow a Dolby Cinema room away. The problem with IMAX is that they are not consistent with the quality of cinema rooms. In the Netherlands we have top quality IMAX cinema rooms (4K laser and 12 track audio + very good acoustics), but in other countries this is unfortunately not always the case.

Well our Cinema "Kinopolis" in Frankfurt Germany has 12 rooms and room 1 is with 3D, 4K, HFR, 4K Laser, Dolby Atmos, D-BOX, and Premium Seats. The Screen is 23,00 x 9,80m and it has 650 Seats, i watched DUNE last Week and it was the best Cinema Experience ive ever had!

😅 yea thats actually the second biggest room in Geemany and the biggest Screen in Germany, any movie i watched in Cinema i was there. I even watched Lord of the Rings Trilogy in that room! Looking out to watch dune 2 another time 😎

I have many Dolby Cinemas & IMAX Lasers near my house in the Greater Los Angeles Area and those two are my all-time favorite movie theater formats for watching many famous popular successful memorable fun interesting films in fact even though there are a lot of IMAX Laser movie theaters in big cities/metropolitan areas around the USA Dolby Cinema has a lot more of those in so many big cities/metropolitan areas across the USA and those except that I really do not like digital IMAX a lot because you are not only paying for its name you are not getting a full IMAX picture & sound quality

About to go see civil war in Dolby Atmos. And honestly I'm a little scared. Haven't been to a theatre for at least 10 years. The tech and experience itself is going to be a shock let alone the fact that this movie is going to be loud and intense ...

I go to Dolby cinemas because it has better quality and comfortable seats. The imax theater I went to has uncomfortable seats like a stadium.

Totally get that! Comfort is key when you're settling in for a movie. Dolby does have some super comfy seats. Maybe try a different IMAX sometime? Not all have those stadium seats, and the screen size is pretty epic.

I prefer Dolby, only thing IMAX has going for it is the bigger aspect ratio/screen. Dolby has higher picture quality and much better sound. Real IMAX theaters usually have very old style seating that’s uncomfortable and closely packed.

IMAX is a dead technology, while Dolby continues to innovate IMAX is stuck in the past, and most IMAX theaters aren't even real IMAX but charge full price for a screen size less than half of what its suppose to be. Not spending my money for them anymore, they won't be relevant in years to come.

@@hifiaudios8101 thank you for replying. In certain theaters the IMAX may be better, I am in New York, I have to go to Manhattan to get a proper IMAX experience. Dolby does better with most smaller theaters, they are more practical. I do prefer Dolby, I love a good surround sound, it makes the movie experience so much better, nothing beats Dolby atmos. I would love to have a surround sound system when I get my own home.
