I love the idea that Imps migrated from Wrath and colonized all the other rings, and their descendants took on the characteristics of the citizens of said rings after generations of adapting to their environmental/breeding with other species.

When you started explaining wrath Imps, I started to imagine a nature documentary with a british narrator as he talks about the life in each ring, which could lead to some hilarious commentary with the visuals. "Here we see the one such hybrid Imp, named of Blitz as in reference to war, scream in joy as he fights a gang of Imps. Close by, you can see I.M.P. sharp shooter, Moxxie, as he struggles to breath after being crushed by a box, which fell atop him in comical fashion."

Oooo I love the different races of Imps depending on what ring they're from. That's one thing I wish was different about the imps since it makes sense for wrath imps to look the way they do but I really wanted to see other types too. Like how higher hellborn look different based on what ring they're from. Look at Verosika and Glitz and Glam they're hellborns that you can tell what ring they're from

I honestly really enjoy these redesigns for your Helluva Boss AU. I can imagine Hellhounds having a similar diversity with sloth ones being based on huskies and wrath one based on coyotes.

Idea for Sloth Imp: Similar to how wrath get the red eyes when they getting stressed or overwhelmed their eyes could shake kinda to symbolise a glitch/lag effect like when a computer has too many tabs Edit: also with the Greed Imps, since there are different versions of gemstones and Crystals they could be able to find all types of that gemstone as long as its name is still related. For example; There one with quartz, they could find Cherry Quartz, Aura Quartz, Fire and Ice Quartz, etc. However, they cannot find amethyst. Or if they have Violet it’s easier for them to find Violet/Purple coloured crystals rather than a colour like red. Also the weakness for shiny things is very relatable🤣 I’m confident my spirit animal is a Magpie🤣🤣🤣

I really like the idea of imp's from different rings being different and I feel like Viv missed out on making very neat imp designs and very neat world building. This honestly makes me want to make a hybrid between a wrath imp and a greed incubus and makes me curious on how different rings affect other species aside from imps.

I aggressively fell in love with the creativity of this idea of expanding on the imp worldbuilding. I love it SO MUCH. I’m sure it could be easily argued why the imps look more-or-less the same in the show, but I LOVE these moments of show-don’t tell via character design. It’s exactly what I loved about Sallie May and how her character design shows the audience that she’s trans without anyone having to say anything forced like “Hello, my trans sister Sallie May. We have not seen each other in a while.”

I *love* the Greed Imp design. I'm making one right now, bjt the main premise is that she had a friend that was a Goetia, possibly Stella, Idk yet, who betrayed her when they were younger, and banished her to the human realm, Earth, for a crime she didn't commit. Edit : I feel like Stella would be petty enough to frame her for stealing something along the lines of a piece of jewelry. Plus, we all know how she turned out as an adult. Who's to say that Stella didn't act that way as a child? So, Stella it is.

I absolutely love your Imp evolutions and wish the show played with the concept more! On the subject an idea I had for my AU was to make the wrath ring more dangerous and reinforce that imps are a prey species is to have the plane be home to very dangerous and large dragons/wyvern like the one we see in Loo Loo land but bigger and more pterosaur like (specifically more like an Azhdarchid mixed with a rhamphorhynchus). I imagine them being on average about 40-100 feet long with a large pterosaur or vulture like beak holding a second set of modified jaws that hold a fire spewing organ that can extend out of their beaks like a goblin shark or a xenomorph. They have Azhdarchid like necks and rhamphorycus like tails just with a wing membrane attaching along it. They would have red scales reinforced to even most angelic weapons by black and yellow crystals culminating in their armored heads. The Hellwyverns would be rare but large and dangerous enough to devour entire farmlands of imps and livestock, so much so that certain individual or even families of imps would be sacrificed to draw these monsters away from population centers when biological or chemical weapons weren’t available, adding some more of the other rings dark fantasy elements to the Wild West setting. Maybe Millie was abducted to be sacrificed alongside a younger Striker for being poor and a hybrid and figuring out how to kill one by targeting its throat like the sea monster in Spring Broken, leading to a friendship between Millie and Striker until falling out (which I would have explored in Harvest Moon and Western Energy instead of not exploring anything at all in the latter). The tragedy is that the hellwyverns weren’t always as dangerous, but used to be native to the greed ring when it was lush and filled with other animals before being industrialized out of existence. The wyverns also used to be quite social and intelligent even with humanoids, but have been made more territorial and violent out of a need to survive. While they may be near invincible in their prime, the hellwyverns don’t live forever and once too old to fly and properly fight are prized hunts by goetia, the sins, overlords, and even exorcists for their crystal scales which are made into narcotic drugs. A bit of environmentalism in a show that is a metaphor for late stage capitalism.

Man your worldbuilding for this franchise must hurt your back for carrying it- XD But fr tho, I love how much thought you put into this and how every Imp hybrid works and behaves. Worldbuilding is pretty fun imo cuz you can go wild with how the world works, but with HH and HB, I can't even tell how their world works.

6:26 i actually remember seeing something that would actually answer this while still keeping the design intact! The thing i saw wasn't specifically about imps but i think it can still apply- Since like you said, the red appears when their stressed, mad, or scared, it would be interesting if constant red iris were like a sort of physical sign of an emotional disorder like anxiety, anger issues, etc. it would certainly apply to blitzo considering his constant stress, so it would be an interesting detail to apply to them. kind of like a cobra character with their hood part constantly up, it's a less obvious detail to show an important character detail.

I love the designs for each imp. Plus it makes sense for them all to look different since they're from different parts of Hell, since each part of Hell is a ring of sin: Gluttony, Wrath, Lust, Envy, Greed, Pride, and Sloth. I mean, the Sinners in the Pride ring have different looks, same with the Loan Sharks, the Hellhounds, and the Goetias. So the imps having different looks makes a lot of sense in my opinion.

oooooo these are so cool and well thought-out! all of your designs make me start thinking about possible world-building stuff because they have subtle hints of bigger themes like for these guys, it's makes me think a bit deeper about evolutionary differences, heritage and societal views and standards. with canon HH/HB world-building and stuff, I don't do that because it's so inconsistent ESPECIALLY with the imps. idk I'm gonna write down my little thoughts because these are really making my brain work after I have been stuck in a creativity drought for like 3 weeks so read them if you want there could be a potential "reason" imps are treated lesser because they evolve (at least what other species use as a reason). after millions of years, I doubt other species evolved much if at all, but imps have and quite a lot because they've all lived so long in the different rings. imps being seen as a more obviously "organic" or "natural" species could have others linking them closer to humans, which would be frowned upon by demon society. the wrath gal has a much longer tail than the other imps as well as a more barbed-looking tip instead of the typical triangle point, so a cool concept would be they use them as whips for herding animals. maybe a possibility for hybrids could be having more snake-like tails, even rattle tail tips as a subtle tie to the view of Imps being what they are (invasive to other rings, small, easy to beat, aggressive etc) The Gluttony imp has a lot more jarring differences when it comes to her body (her hips) and having segmented joints, not much clothing is made with Gluttony imps in mind, so most of their clothes are either A: baggy enough that it doesn't catch on their segments or B: be cropped enough it doesn't interact with them at all. also, the stinger point could be used to sedate potential threats by injecting nectar into someone, essentially getting them drunk. Sloth imps would definitely get the worse treatment for being imp because of how much smaller they are, but infantilisation would be super common as well, with some higher-ranked demons even keeping them as "purse dogs". Another (although less) subtle tie to imps being seen as invasive of other rings with them being rat/rodent themed. I think lust imps still looking similar to Succubus/Incubus could have some interesting implications, both in world and as a theme. the lust imps looking similar can work as the fact that succubus are truly built for their jobs as seducers, so looking similar to "the professional" could be and evolutionary advantage. the theming route could be linked to how beauty standards work as a whole, wanting to look like something quite literally unachievable could be interesting not only from a design point but from even a story point too. Greed imps could have a hierarchy between other Greed imps based on gem-finding abilities. they definitely take extreme care over their claws, spines and horns because of that. because they're the most plain looking of the ring, they probably wear their hoards of gems to try and look more wealthy. maybe demons from outside the ring often think greedy imp are well off because of this, especially with the reputation the greed ring has. them being bad at money is much more common though, spending the moeny they have immedetly after they get it on food, drinks and clothing. leviathan (envy prince) basing envy imps off shrimp is fun as well as the concept for Leviathan keeping tabs on the imps. a lot of hybrids for imps however could be based on other bottom-feeding fish and animals, mostly crustaceans and/or animals without backbones. because of how spindly their horns are plus being underwater their horns are the most likely to break out of the imps. they could even have light sensitivity in their eyes. their second arms would probably be used for for expressing emotions while talking since they do not do anything practicality-wise. if you made it this far uhh thanks! I just decided to write these out because I do enjoy sharing my thoughts on stuff like this

I enjoy redesign videos, but controversially giving simplistic designs to background and main characters respectively efficiently helps the studio save time when creating the episode. But I still love these ideas 👍

Okay so hear me out because I've written this in several imp based vids and community post made by Loves, and granted I've grafted ideas onto her stuff I have several headcanons for the main man of Wrath himself Satan. 1. He hates Mammon for obvious reasons and Loves version of Leviathan because they are the most likely to give Lucifer lip. This hatred extends to the citizen even imps so before Charlie was born citizens of Greed and Envy would be killed on sight when they visited wrath including the imps 2. Sometimes Leviathan says something Satan especially doesn't like so he has tried to burn down envy or try to kill Leviathan's true form in the abyss. This obviously failed and Satan has drowned himself and an unknown numbers of imps. The imps that were taken by Envy were made into envy imps This is more from a Helluva Boss Au idea I had. Blitzo created a package system for clients resulting in him hiring an imp from gluttony and sloth 1. The gluttony imp and my take on gluttony imps are masters of incendiary weapons so this imp is in charge of Blitzo's fire package 2. The Sloth imp is imp's it guy, videographer and in charge of imps toxin package as I made sloth imps masters of toxins Edit: wrote greed when I meant gluttony

Unpopular Opinion: there shouldn’t be imps AND Hellborn demons (especially hybrids); only one or the other should’ve existed. To a casual observer (who wasn’t hyperfixated and followed every single staff member on social media), they’d assume all Hellborn demons were Earthborn sinners. I realized when I hyperfixated and found myself always explaining the difference to my friends multiple times. Hell, when the pilot first came out, I thought Cherri Bomb and Katie Killjoy were Hellborn because their color scheme was so similar to Charlie’s!! I always respected Viv’s creative output. But while her designs were visually appealing, they always lacked any substance. 9 times out of 10, if her characters were naked, you couldn’t glean anything about their personalities.
