Hate Guile players now? You're gonna hate them even more once they start doing this! Fight the cheat box players with their own tech! Originally SFV was designed so that you had stop blocking to release flash kicks and sonic booms but with this controller setting you can reduce the gap to the point that you'll be unleashing moves so fast your enemies will never want to jump again! (in theory...)

If the controller is recognized by steam as a normal xbox controller, you can rebind the shoulder buttons to do directions using steam's big picture mode. So now you can cheat without sacrificing the dpad.

If you're interested in tournaments, you won't be able to do that. The controller having profiles set to where you can do it without having to configure it in-game. The PS4/5 doesn't support that

@@qwaleedty what I'm saying is that you can't have a d pad that covers the cardinal directions and have a button represent a cardinal direction and show up to a tournament

@@merkyofaycemfx2944 can you source the rules? Because as far as I'm aware the stick can override the dpad and that's the same thing. And the hitbox crossup does exactly what you're talking about and it's tournament legal.

@@AssMcBlast The crossup is legal, but button + direction is a macro. It is a different story for games that allow you to do button dash, require more than one button to throw, or something like activating V-Trigger, X-factor, Roman Cancelling, Max Mode etc.

The forward priority in SFV does have some trickery tho. Forward direction changes anytime your opponent switches sides, that benefits characters that can do air-resets into walk under left/right mix-ups. You just hold both directions and when you get under your opponent, your character will start switching directions every frame making the mix-up quite unseeable. It has limited applications like after some anti-airs, but it is something.

this might sound stupid but the thing I want out of pads is 2 auxilary buttons to the top left and top right of the dpad, spaced well enough to where I wont accidentally tap them when I do 360s or whatever. I always diasble the left stick for fighting games because my thumb will typically slip and press up on the left stick when I try to crouch or do like a half circle in guilty gear on a ds4. 2 peripheral buttons by the dpad would go a long way alleviating the loss of button real estate by turning the shoulder buttons into directional buttons, that would be my dream controller. Also if they added a right stick just so I would never have to switch controllers for different types of games.

I bought this cantroller.. It's very bad the dpad is uncomfortable and very painful to use.... I actually went back to Sony doulshok normal controller...

@@imohbalu Good thing i researched about this pad, just today i was going to get a unit, but honestly seeing the large number of negative reviews it has about the dpad (I'm a 100% dpad player) and how cheap it feels i must say that i will avoid this bullet. I was using a PS5 controller but now i went back to my PS4 and it feels pretty nice again.

Since it is not available for PS, yet: Is there anything similar for PS? I don‘t need remapping, what I‘m looking for is analog stick and dpad, with analog being this octagon shape… I mainly use the analog stick and only use the dpad for dashing. And I HATE when the analog stick misinterprets my input… Mostly fireball instead of dp… I‘d like to try the octagon shape…

Thanks NihongoGamer! I see you ask if I think the controller is cheating? I would say it is but it doesn't know it is and there is no rules for Street Fighting unless you go to a Tournament right? What if the other player is disabled? I like it! You like it I say everyone else would like it to. My friend had one you could program dating in the 90's on Sega playing Mortal Kombat was a breeze. This controller would work great for Guardian Heroes thanks again for sharing this.

I have a hitbox coming when they restock and you still keep making me want to spend fifty on this. Even without the buttons for directional, it just seems nice. The fact that it can ignore the socd stuff is crazy actually.

Any chance to use this pad on a ps4 with a brook converter? If it’s recognized as an xbox pad it might be possible with a x360 -> ps4 or x1/x360 -> ps4 converter. Do you by any chance have one of these and care to check whether that works?

But analogic joystic isn't the best for the fighting games, because neutral position is hard to hold without down direction opposed, when your opponent prepares a combo, in order to prepare a parry instead according to the direction and the button pressed, especially valid for games like Tekken 7...working good on your street fighter because you have shortcuts, but in tekken it's another story, the defense and counterattack positions being much more numerous in static position then SF. At this time the joystick can be less precise and advantageous depending on the game.

sadly no it doesn't work. even using the bumpers only for left/right SFV doesn't register a back input while forward input is being held.

@@HaxHaunter what pc players? In tourneys the ps4 is used to play the game??????? if they wanna compete then they should buy a mixbox or something. A keyboard isn't something i think would be directly allowed, you'd need something like a converter for that.

I'm player of the tekken 7 and I can say that older version hori fighting commander very ergonomic. octa is worst choice if you don't wanna miss you inputs when you try to do something in the game.

For real though - I don’t think this is practical, because you have to have so much rewiring in your head to do combos, and that would miss with your head when you play other games. Plus in few years this controller will not be sold anymore - So you’ll have an issue when you pick up something else! Muscle memory is a thing. And the dominant position in a game when everything is at stake. Meaning, when I Use controller - I can control the flow of my fight - because I’m used to it and there is little friction between me and my inputs and moving my character. Yet on a FightStick I can do combos waaaaaaaaaaaay easier than the controller, but the friction is bigger because I have to think which button is what - so I can not control the flow of the fight. That’s why I use fight stick to do combo challenges in training - but when I go online I actually use a controller. It’s all about muscle memory and what you’re used to. So this is cool and but not really practical for the long run.

People switch controllers if they think they can be better on the controller they switch to. You can build new muscle memory.

The dpad is crap imo. Hori and most companies who make controllers seem to be on a never ending quest to make the same mistakes over and over again. Its either bad buttons, bad dpad or bad layout, no one can ever get the trifecta right. Same seems to go for a lot of the fight sticks too as far as I can tell but obviously the internals are more complicated.

I'm an Xbox player and I will say that is more a thing that gets comfortable over time, when I use the Xbox dpad it was really painful but after a week or 2 I really didn't feel anything bad and I could play for hours without any issue so yeah really good for me I guess

I dont like it, because its a bug in the Dpad, also you need to do a firmware update, which is also buggy. Its cheap, thats why its ok, but in general, its not a good controller. Its a copy pasted version of Sega Mega Drive controller :)

your key map is unnecessary, i can execute commands as quick as you do and i bet you this technique of yours is just good in some skills but not in combination attacks.
