This is the brand new for 2022, DT-7 inch Max by Rubi Tools.
Although this saw was sent to me from Rubi Tools, I was excited to review this saw since for the last 12 years I've exclusively used 7 inch tile saws. I really don't see a need for bulky, heavy 10 inch saws, when
this saw can literally do anything a 10 inch saw can do, but only weighs around 50 lbs and costs about half the price of a 10inch saw.
It's so compact you can put it right in the bathroom you're working in and best of all, it can even fit in the cab of my work truck!
It has a powerful 10 amp/6000 RPM motor, cuts perfectly straight, tilts for miters , cuts tile up to 2 feet long, 18inches on diagonal and can do plunge cuts. It comes with a metal gauge for cutting multiple tiles at the same measurement. This saw also comes with a lightweight stand and a 7" diamond blade. The water flaps that are attached to the saw and the extended water try impressively keep the water in the saw tray.
I was very impressed with how accurate and straight it cuts, especially when cutting miters. The DT-7 Max literally has everything I need in a saw, and best of all it's affordably priced for the DIY installer or the professional.
Tell me why this isn't the best everyday tile saw?

Is it just me, but it seems that the miter was pre-cut before the video and he just ran it through. The video is shot from the other side not showing the actual cut. Maybe I'm wrong

How do you like this saw so far? Can you compare or to the rigid 7” Also how does it do on cutting longer tile? I know the rigid 7” the cut it off usually with the longer tile.
@HowToTileLikeaPro
@HowToTileLikeaPro Жыл бұрын
It's been working great so far👍. It's pretty similar to the Rigid 7", the biggest difference is it seems way more accurate than the Rigid. When you pull the Rigid tray all the way out, it wobbles side to side slightly....just enough to fight an accurate cut. This saw's tray doesn't wobble at all, and it has a slightly more horse power, which is noticeable in the speed of cutting👌. Other than those 2 things the Rigid and this one can do about the same things👍

I have the Lachmond 7 inch. Too much play in the table. Whats the run out like on a 24 inch cut 3/16 off. Thats a good test
@HowToTileLikeaPro
@HowToTileLikeaPro 2 жыл бұрын
I hear ya, I've used the Rigid 7in and it has the same problem...so hard to get a straight cut over 16inches..especially with porcelain 🤦‍♂️. This saw seemed waaaay more sturdier, when I pulled the tray out to it's max, no side to side movement 🙌. I love your idea of testing it cutting 3/16 off a 24" piece 💯. I'll video it and post the results👍👍

I'm switching. I've been using the Ridgid 7" and 8" , but the caster wheels break within 2 months.... So much table movement such a pain in the ass..gonna give this a try. I'm a full-time Tileman and I agree with you, 10" really isn't worth it especially if you have floor cutters like sigmas like most full-time tilemen, hardly ever use the wet saw, but when I do it's for U shape or L shape cuts.

Yup so true! 10" saws are too bulky for everyday stuff👍👍. Let me know how you like the Rubi, I'm loving mine, waaaaayyy sturdier and absolutely no table movement = very accurate cuts👍. I did put a red cobra blade on it though, the blade it came with wasn't the fastest for porcelain.

Nice saw I'm thinking about this saw or the new Ridgid 7inch. The Ridgid has a cool feature I like it's the collapsible fence for LFT and the rubber matted top seems like it grips well. My old 7" Ridgid was a work horse. I got 2 years of weekly use out of it before it developed some wear on the tray and the arm. 3/4" fence is sweet. What do you think about the new Ridgid 7" or 10" ?
@HowToTileLikeaPro
@HowToTileLikeaPro Жыл бұрын
Wow, that's for the info... I think you're talking about the new Rigid 8 inch saw. That seems impressive I do love that drop down feature! 💯 I would definitely love to try that one out👍. Rigid saw are tough, I've used them for years and they have a long life. Comparing the Rigid 7 inch with this Rubi 7 inch, the Rubi is way more accurate, the Rigid tray moves left & right when you pull it out far, which makes accuracy a challenge. But the new 8inch one looks great, I'm looking forward to trying it out👌

Run away from the Ridgid 8in extended rip. I've owned 2 in the last 8 months, both in the dumpster. Casters break, and tray wobbles, no replacement parts. Maybe give it 2 years.

How would you say this compares to the 7-in Delta Cruiser or the features on the 10" version?
@HowToTileLikeaPro
@HowToTileLikeaPro 2 жыл бұрын
I've never personally used the 7in Delta, it costs $170 more than this saw, but has a 13 amp motor which is pretty powerful for a 7incher. The motor probably accounts for the heavier weight of 63 lbs, while the Rubi weighs 47 lbs. The Rubi's 10amp motor is still powerful, so for the price difference and more importantly lighter weight... I think I'd prefer the DT 7. Now the DT 10 in Max has some way better features, but I personally don't like 10 inch saws for everyday😁...too heavy, bulky and take up too much space🤷‍♂️🤣

@@HowToTileLikeaPro absolutely 👍 I've been considering a smaller 7-in for smaller type work the foldable legs of the 10-in model would be really nice if they were sold separately thank you for the inside and that comparison you're putting out really good content and knowledge out there from one tile guy to another 🤜🤛

@@tomg3285 Yea the DT10in Max is so tempting, if I were to buy a 10 saw I'd probably buy that one. Besides the folding feature, the python water system, and the 15amp motor...I really like the extended tray option that makes the tray wider for large format tile😮. If it works like it says , it would be pretty amazing, since tiles keep getting bigger and bigger 🤣🤣

Is Rubi made by rigid or vice versa? The saws favor each other
@HowToTileLikeaPro
@HowToTileLikeaPro Жыл бұрын
Although they're very similar in style and features, they're both made by separate companies. The Rubi has a little stronger motor, sturdier, and cuts more accurately.... but the Rigid will save you a little money and can do the job if you work it right👍
@aurfalien

Wow, my kind of accuracy! Is it really that accurate out of the box? I've been looking at ways to get the Kobalt 7" or Rigid 7" as accurate, seems like tape and a lot of adjusting and still some slop (purely based on watching and reading as I've not bought anything yet). But your cuts in this video seem wonderfully accurate. This saw may be perfect for my first tile saw. I've been using cut off saws and man, painful.

Thanks so much for the reply. I have a 7" mk that I use for tile baths on new construction. I set it in a 6' &1/2 ft plastic sheet pop up paint spray tent with a full plastic sheet bottom and set the saw & stand in a small kiddie pool to catch any water that might drop. There's usually a big enough bedroom near by to set it up in. I appreciate all you're doing to promote our trade with your skill & videos.

I guess it depends on what saw you currently have🤷‍♂️. If you have a 10inch saw there's lots of benefits to having this saw. If you already have a 7 inch saw, then it guess it depends on which one you have. I used the Rigid 7 inch from Home Depot, this saw is way sturdier, the rigid tray when you pull it out to cut bigger tiles always move left to right, this saw doesn't which means more accurate cuts. This has the extended water tray, more Amps in the motor, so many subtle features that really make it better than the one I've used before. I'd check one out in person, you can really feel the upgrade in quality, at least compared to the Home Depot version. Hope that helped a bit👌
