Improving Chinese Speaking Skill: Imitation Technique (Weekend Plans Example)
♦️Many of students of Chinese learners have been asking me: how to improve listening? Why do Chinese native speakers speak so FAST! I How to speak Chinese with confident? How to improve pronounciation? How to have good accent? That’s why I’ve decided to make this video. Hopefully to help you improve your Chinese listening and speaking skill.
I want to introduce super easy technique. In fact I speak Chinese, French, English and now self-taught Japanese. I’ve always used this technic to learn a new language.
♦️Imitation Technique 模仿技巧。
Imitate, that is, COPY exactly what you hear.
*Speak with emotions. 要把情緒也加進去 If you don’t, it might lead to bad accent.
*Repeat and speak the entire sentence. Don’t read word for word. I know you’d like to get each TONEs right. But it is impossible. It only makes you sound like a robot.

Catching the rhythm of a native speaker who is talking at the real speed, including the pause he/she is making, is the key to any language learning. Some teachers are talking too slow and making the students difficult to catch the flow of the language, so I'm glad I discovered this channel. This video was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you 😀

Thank you, that's very useful. That's exactly same problem I've had before: when speaking tried to pronounce every character with perfect tone, so pronunciation speed was slow and chinese people didn't understand me and I was guessing why :)

Super powerful technique. I did this a lot as a beginner (even when I didn't understand what I was repeating!), then got away from it. This vid showed me that even though I'm intermediate/advanced, this technique hasn't lost its power.

Thanks for this idea. Getting the emotion behind the speaking is a great way to call up my inner Taiwan Ren. Also there’s a rhythm to get so the words flow.

Thank you for making this video I have been thinking similar things for years. my friends and classmates I've had over the years all put too much stress on if they have the perfect tone of the word. They talk much slower because of this in my opinion. Maybe I'm a bad student but I always just thought of it as part of the pronunciation and not think to much about it.謝謝老師 支持你繼續拍多國語影片

That’s super helpful :) I always tried to pronounce every character by itself, but now it really does seem very wrong to do so. I mean, I am not used to talking with emotion. My native language actually seems a bit unemotional and dull to me lol. It’s not easy but I just have to practice, practice, practice :)

Thanks your advice..I absolutely agree with you!If somebody learn only rules and words, never will understand native speakers..It is true other languages as well.Obviously chinese, natives speak very quikly...generally, word by words not to effectíve..:-) I think, only way repeat many, many time..You teach with very great method!Thans a lot !Respect Zoltán from Hungary,我 来自匈牙利 (small East -Europian country) :-)

I remember what a shock it was to discover that native Mandarin speakers "mispronounce" words all the time. But then it was a relief to discover that "perfect pronunciation" doesn't exist. It's more important to be intelligible and sound as natural as possible. Once, I ordered two beers, and a Taiwanese girl said I sounded "like a rapper," because my pronunciation was precise. It was flattering and embarrassing at the same time.
