Contrary to popular belief, you are NOT going to screw up a stock trigger bar with a Dremel, or even with a fine file. The Glock trigger bar is NOT a precision piece. They're crudely stamped from mild steel and thrown into a bin. I have polished dozens & dozens of them so far and have not found one yet that did not need the firing pin safety ramp slightly filed to remove the stamping/shearing ridges. Yes, you can of course polish the entire trigger bar if you want, but it's not necessary. Some will argue that the right hand side near the connector needs polishing as well, but the contact pressure there is basically nothing, meaning polishing that area will offer zero benefit. As I've said, polish whatever you want. I just wanted to make this video to show everyone the absolute minimum they need to do.

Great video! I once had an old machine shop guy tell me he disassembles his new guns and puts valve lapping compound on the friction surfaces and puts about 200 rounds through the gun. He said it is real obvious if any more polishing needs to be done and where.

First, really good video. I like your approach. Second, just so you will know, that "nipple" on the trigger bar was also on the "early" Gen 3s, or at least on mine. You mention something to the effect that the nipple was introduced with the Gen 4s. My early Gen 3 Glock 30, purchased new around 1997, has has that nipple. Some refer to the early Gen 3 as Gen 2.5 (it has the finger grooves but lacks the accessory rail), but it seems Glock recognizes it as a Gen 3.

Very good video. I'm not a big fan of polymer guns but I just bought a G19. I was not impressed with the trigger pull weight or the gritty feel so I'm looking forward to completing a full trigger polish job. I did the same to my Sig Sauer P226 and P220 and it is amazing what polishing trigger components can do.

Johnny Glocks recommends a WOLFF 5.0 lb striker spring. It does not bind like the stock Glock striker spring. As far as Lone Wolf goes, I LOVE their UAT trigger shoe and bar combo. (Black with red safety tang) It is a billet, gently curved trigger with adjustments for pre and over travel. Less than $100 shipped.

I use to do polish jobs on my Glocks but now realize it's a waste of time. I used dremel, Flitz, Mother's Billet metal polish, changed to LoneWolf 3.5lb connectors and 6lb trigger spring but now realize the factory trigger is fine and I spend my money on better sights, extra ammo, mags and range time.

I like to use a wood rasp file and 80 grit sandpaper on all the internals. Then I hit the rails with my bench grinder to make it all work smoothly. The fact that it fires full auto half the time only attests to my superior gunsmithing abilities. And everyone who owns a Glock knows that the the slide flys off and hits you in the face every once in a while. 😂 Seriously, I use Hoppes #9 mixed with JB bore non embedding paste to polish the internals. Works great. Good video. My edit is: subbed

Good video! I've done a 25 cent trigger job to 5 Glocks now. While some would argue it's not necessary, I honestly think it's well worthwhile. I think the benefit of polishing the rough edges off the stamped parts is that it lessens the possibility of uneven wear due to rough part surfaces rubbing against each other.

Files harbor freight or granger . I can not tell you how many so-called .25 trigger jobs . That I have had to fix or replace after guys tried it them self . Worse glock I ever seen was a younger guy super glued his trigger safety. Then used a a power wheel to grind his trigger bar . This guy could not understand way he dropped it and it fired . Wish I had photos or a video of it . All said and done I ha to get a all new trigger assembly. And trigger housing and under cut and stipple the frame .

p pollaccia I'm not 100% sure, but most say no. Though, even if it does void your warranty the odds of needing warranty work on your Glock are about 50,000 to 1. Yes, that number is total guess, but I would imagine it's pretty realistic.

It does not take weight off of the pull, it eliminates some of the 'gritty crunchy' feel during the take up. If you want to reduce weight, you need to swap parts, which runs in price from ~$5 up to about $1M dollars, depending on your lawyer.

Good information. Think I will stay with factory though, I'm not the best on triggers but shot an AR type rifle (Short Barrel)a guy had done a lot of upgrades etc and the trigger was so light that I fired several times when I really didn't intend, down range of course bc I was Leary to start with, the trigger was very responsive and no creep etc with quick reset. Whatever they done it was great but for me I couldn't be comfortable with it especially for home/self Defense but a blast to shoot, it was a Daniel Defense Rifle but required a particular License to possess it from what I was told.
@paulhomsy2751
@paulhomsy2751 5 жыл бұрын
There is a marked difference between a trigger intended for precision shooting strictly at the range and one for defense. The manufacturers themselves point you to each type and their different pull weights. The "range" triggers have a lighter pull by about 2 to 3 pounds compared to the others. The whole premise is that under stress one is much less likely to feel the weight of a trigger and it is a lot safer to have a firearm with a heavier trigger pull.

Yea I agreee with the firing part but then again most of us can afford the ammo for it to shoot 100s or 1000s of rounds or DONT have much time to go fire them lol but I do think it’s better to just fire it than to mess with sanding down parts and stuff. Rn I got bulks of 556 and 223 for my AR but don’t have the time to got shoot it luckily it has no problems same for my 80%arms 9mm build. Rn The problem I’m having with it is that it will reset the trigger but when I pull it it won’t fire. And some times it won’t load a round like it gets stuck under the slide.

Always entertaining to watch internet dudes vandalize their firearms and then spam a bunch of threads asking why their Glock doesn't work anymore. I can do all this by simply shooting the gun and I don't have to potentially wreck my internals. And if you can't shoot the gun enough to where it polishes itself, then you obviously don't shoot enough for Bubba's trigger job to have any impact.

Especially the vertical extension where it disengages the firing pin safety plunger. Take off too much material and your gun might not reliably go BANG when you pull the trigger. Bill’s rule applies to ANY firearm - not just Glocks. Applying a fine ceramic stone to the edge of the vertical extension to smooth it out is fine. It would take you all day to remove enough material to cause a problem. There is one surface in a Glock action that I have had to use a very fine file on but I’m not about to discuss that with the general public.
