Midwest boy here too, grew up between Oklahoma and KC. Wound up living in South Louisiana, joining a Yacht Club, buying and refitting a derelict 76 Irwin 37CC. I’m an Comms/Marine Electronics Tech so on the 1st day on the boat I got the macerating toilet working and water running. Since then I have also refitted a Gemini Catamaran. I bought 3 books to gain knowledge- 1. Know Your Boat by David Kroenke. 2. The 12v Doctor Practical Handbook by Edgar J Beyn and Boat Owners Handbook by John Vigor. Get some tools and get started, I look forward to watching your videos.

This is valuable information thank you for sharing! I think that’s my weakest spot, knowing how my electric systems all work. Will definitely pick up these books.

I’m also a noob sailor, fitness trainer (jiu jitsu coach) and I managed workers comp for auto dealers back in the day. How many sailing lessons did you take before you did your maiden voyage?

Hahaha that’s awesome man we basically twins! You on the west too? I did 2 courses which were 8 lessons. I had signed up for the third course but they had to cancel it.

@@midwestsailor yeah I’m in Los Angeles! Hard to find west coaster on KZfaq but Keeldragger and Sailing Sole are kind of the reference for california channel island cruising. I’m going to try to do the 4 course ASA 101 this summer before I take her out on my own. Can’t wait to see more videos from you!
