In memory of GASTON RAHIER (1947-2005).
The Belgian Gaston Rahier (1947-2005), with 1.57m (5ft 1.8in), contributed decisively to the dissemination of off-road motorcycle races, the result of his sporting success and his personality, both combative and relentless in proof, as well as affable, at ease and always available to the press.
His 28-year career had two periods marked by success in different disciplines: first in motocross (1963-1982) and then in endurance rallies (1983-1991).
This documentary about Gaston Rahier is divided into three parts:
1.- In motocross, where the years of 1975, 1976 and 1977 stand out, when he was crowned world champion in motocross;
2.- In off-road resistance motorcycle rallies, the years 1984, 1985 and 1988 stand out;
3.- He dedicated the last stage of his life (1992-2005) to supporting young talents in motorcycling and to publicizing and promoting off-road endurance motorcycle races.
Gaston Rahier was also a successful businessman in the motorcycle sales and servicing business. He started his activity in Liége (Belgium), around 1978, as a result of his connection to Suzuki, and then in Loisirs (Paris), in France.
Gaston Rahier died on February 5, 2005, in Paris (France), victim of cancer. One of the most successful Belgian drivers in the world of two wheels goes down in history, who was once "the little man with a huge reputation".

Bonjour . C'est avec une grande émotion que j'ai regarder votre vidéo.J'ai eu la chance de passer beaucoup d'années et de temps avec Gaston et sa famille ( circuits , courses , vacances etc...)! J'en garde d'excellents souvenirs et une grande nostalgie ! J'ai tellement appris à ses côtés !! Merci pour votre vidéo qui lui rend hommage ! Bonjour, Oui, je suis tout à fait d'accord, Gaston Rahier était un grand Monsieur de la moto ! Ce que j'ai le plus admiré, c'est sa technique extraordinaire. Je n'aurais jamais imaginé que l'un des avantages du DRZ 820 serait d'aider à la guérison des hôpitaux suite à des grosse chute de moto ! Votre méthode de guérison m’a complètement surpris ! Merci pour votre conseil, je l'utiliserai quand j'en aurai besoin... Merci pour votre commentaire inspirant ! 👍 Avez-vous réalisé votre rêve avec le DRZ 820 ? Avez-vous maintenant un R600TTR ? ✌

@@rideyourbike Bonjour, Pour la petite histoire, avant mon accident, j'avais acheté un DR 750 que je commençai à préparer pour un petit rallye : le rallye de Tunisie. Puis l'accident !!! J'ai donc revendu ma DR 750 alors que j'étais encore à l'hôpital avec mon poster 🤕😀 Je n'ai jamais roulé avec, l'acheteur de l'époque a fait une super affaire : une moto neuve, sans kilomètre vendue en dessous du prix que je l'avais acheté : c'est la vie et tant mieux pour lui (j'ai fait un heureux : je pense). J'avais deux motos à l'époque, un 600XT (2kf) et ma DR 750. En 1990, je me suis acheté un DR 800 🤩 😍 ❤ ❤HEUREUX 💗 mon regret (aujourd'hui) c'est de l'avoir vendu (à l'époque je n'avais pas le choix). Mon autre regret c''est que j'aurais voulu un DRZ 820 à cinq soupapes comme celle de Mr G.RAHIER 😍 Mon coup de foudre pour cette moto est resté intacte : j'en rêve toujours 💌 Aujourd'hui, je roule avec un TT600R : très bonne moto Je fait exclusivement du TT. @@anniedelannoy2252 Bonjour, Merci d'avoir partagé vos expériences de dépassement ; la récupération après l'accident (que j'espère complète) et la vente de la DR 750 (à perte). Ce sont des exemples de dépassement qui nous motivent tous à affronter les difficultés de la vie avec optimisme. Qui sait si vous trouverez un DR 820 comme celui de M. Rahier ? Il faut garder espoir ! D'après vos paroles, je conclus que vous êtes expérimenté en TT et compte tenu de la princesse agile que vous possédez actuellement (la TT600R), vous voudrez peut-être essayer le TET au Portugal. Si vous avez besoin d'informations plus utiles, faites-le-moi savoir. Amicalement ✌

My first MX hero as a miniMXer, when he came to Australia l got an RM125B and a pair of Heckle boots and layed my bars down ! Using histechnique of ' squaring off ' corners won me the 125, 250 and Unlimited classes in '78.

@@rideyourbike Je ne vais pas vous donné mon nom...Ici...Gaston était copain avec Guy Huynen encore un Bekge il était chef mécano du team motos...Il soudait l'alu comme un vrai chef. Dans le team il y avait aussi Laurent Boudou...Il a payé pour faire le Paris-Dakar et sa moto n'étai pas une vraie moto d'usine...ah ah ah

I would whine about bikes being too tall, heavy, etc for me. But then I came across videos about Gaston and what he had achieved and I realized I was being a wimp. Just ride whatever, stop making excuses. 😎
