StichMethod Guitar Ok. What key is Touch of Grey in? Cause Jerry always lands on the 11th fret high E string on the B chord. And you always said that he comes home to a certain key in a chord

Your "springtime happy sound" that Jerry made really got to me, man. That description really nailed it, and brought a tear to my eye for the loss for the world of music that came with his passing. Keep up the video work. You rock.

I loved Jerry. I chased him around the country for 23 years, from my first show in 1972 until the last show in 1995. Like many dead heads I quite jobs to go on tour. I once was a semi truck driver and I had some magnetic signs made up that had the name of the trucking company they used to hire to haul their equipment. I'd get to the venue and attach those signs to the doors of the truck and pull right in and park next to the bands trucks. Rock star parking. Stitch man, I live your videos.

I have been a dead head my whole life, and have followed them as a way of life.. I have hung out with Jerry and smoked with him when the JFK was still there in Philly PA, actually they're the ones that brought down that stadium when they got done playing....the structure had started to crumble that was the last concert that was ever played the last event that was ever at that tedium .....anyway not to brag about how many times I've seen the grateful dead. I stumbled across one of your videos it was this one and I was wondering where you been all the while I was running around looking for people that play the Grateful Dead not well... as you do so I appreciate how you teach us on your videos it's easy and it's understandable for an old acidhead thank you very much and I really enjoy

Stich Sensei, I love your videos. You are my Sensei. I realize that I know pentatonics like the back of my hand, but not major and minor scales. How do you recommend I learn major/minor scales up and down the neck, all root positions? CAGED? Or 'normal' approach and just memorize the scales? Side note: Cris Jacobs (The Bridge, Cris Jacobs Band) once gave me a guitar lesson, and he uses CAGED. I would love to know your thoughts on it Ian.

It’s funny I grew up with a Deadhead dad, then later learned to play guitar from the relatively late age of 18, but always having the Dead on in the background must have had an effect as I’ve been doing this for years (now 41) without ever realising it until now!

@jaskate22

Thanks for helping blend together the mountain of information that I knew but didn't know how to use haha (scales/progressions/styles.....joining them all) One question.... When I'm doing my blues chord progression (12 bar or other )....in say the key of E (E-A-B)...I am going to use my E Minor pentatonic over it...not the C# minor pentatonic (which would be the relative minor of the E-A-B progression) Why wouldn't I just use the C Minor pentatonic here instead of the Am to get my bluesy sound? If it was just C-F-G and we never included the Am chord.....would we just use a C minor pentatonic? What if the progression didn't start on Am but started on C and went C-F-G-Am....would we then use the C Minor pentatonic to get a bluesy sound? Or is the correct answer that....either could work? haha. Hopefully that question(s) was clear! Thanks!!! StichMethod Guitar4 days ago Before I answer this, did you watch my Pentatonic Mastery Playlist? James A3 days ago Thanks! Hadn't seen the third video and the end of that definitely helped. I guess in regard to this video my question still is, could I play a C minor pentatonic over that progression that starts with C major to get a blues sound?
@kevinborchers851
@kevinborchers851 7 жыл бұрын
James A if the song is a 12 bar blues in C yes use C minor pent but also C major pent. The C# minor pentatonic would work over the E-A-B progression,because that is also the E major scale. Mixing major minor in blues is what makes Clapton, BB, Mayer sound so good
@jaskate22
@jaskate22 7 жыл бұрын
My problem is I come up with this questions when I'm not in front of my guitar - i guess I need to mess around with playing the relative minor pentatonic scale over those chords to see the differences in sounds - thanks
