Hi Sam, just catching up on this one. Great work as always. I have walked out to Foxtor Mire in the centre of the Moor. This was the inspiration for the Great Grimpen Mire in the book. You can see why. This has Childe's Tomb adjacent to it, ancient stone cross, subject of another legend. You do need to take care when walking in this area though.

Hi Sam, Wonderful, the mysterious atmosphere was perfectly transmitted, well done!! I didn't know the church was also derelict but just look at the mausoleum it looks really well cared for, perhaps because of the legend attatched to it. I have read the book many times, and the film and audio books in both English and Spanish. Its a great favourite of mine. The first time though is very special it was a black and white film watched late at night!! The clips over Dartmoor were special too its just as I remembered it. I was lucky enough to have been let loose on it a few times to do Ten Tors where you navigate between the Tors mainly across the wild moor. Thanks for for taking me back there!! Great video, well done, all the best!!

Hi David, thank you! Thank you, first of all for suggesting the Hound of the Baskervilles to me a while back. I hope you don't mind me mentioning you in the special thanks at the end. The church burnt down, and it wasn't rebuilt, they only restored the tower. With all that's going on at that church, I think they're looking after it just in case the legends are true 😂 With all the driving I didn't have the time to visit the other tors, maybe I'll go again one day, and spend more time there. I'm very glad you've enjoyed it. Thanks again!

@@SamWalksALot Thanks for the mention, much appreciated. Not easy to get to a lot of the Tors but well worth trying if you get the chance. Think I'm going to get the book out tonight!! I probably mentioned before but Conan Doyle wrote the first Sherlock Holmes stories when practicing as a Doctor in Southsea just round the corner from where I used to live!! Probably not widely known but there are a number of well known literary names linked to Portsmouth. Charles Dickens was born there, Rudyard Kipling lived there. HG Wells worked (and lived maybe) there (the final seems if the Invisible Man were set there), Conan Doyle played football there and Neville Shute (A Town like Alice) lived there and also had an aircraft factory there, in fact I used to work in one of the hangers at the old airspeed factory. Not bad for a small island city. But I digress (as normal!!) Have a great week!!

Yes, Southsea. I looked at that while researching, as you mentioned it. Didn't know about the others. I've been to Portsmouth a few times, but no time to have a look around. I'll definitely do that next time 😊 Have a great week!
