Watch the very first event for the new A2RL series - the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League - taking place at Formula 1’s Yas Marina Abu Dhabi Grand Prix track.
This pioneering autonomous racing series is new for 2024 and pitches eight teams against one another in modified Super Formula SF23 cars chasing a $2.25million prize fund.
This new annual race, aiming to stress-test technology for the future of transport - features teams from the UAE, China, Singapore, Germany, Hungary, Italy and the USA.

Love this experiment format :) Imagine one of those IA learning boxes on top of verstappen, Alonso, lecrerc and so on… to learn the line and fighting technique. Inserting one of them into the F1 format🤯

"Race" starts 1:40:32 Actual race (no SC) starts at 1:47:20 (and restarts at 1:52:00) Back to "racing" at 2:29:06, still FCY Green flag 2:30:20

Tesla has thousands of cars driving around and this series can get 4 cars to do 8 laps without spinning

I think there's a bit of a difference between racing and general day to day driving. They are also using ICE power units which means more to go wrong and more for the vehicle to learn.

Please do this ona smaller track, with formula ford or something that doesn't look ridiculous. Running on a F1 circuit is not doing the series any favours. Progress since Roborace has been pitiful, what is going on? It's a really exciting prospect ruined by the format.
