My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzfaq.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

lol... Forgive my french.. In another matter, perhaps i don't know fishing that well, but if you see a shark, wouldn't you wanna fish in *another* area entirely regardless? akin to saying "It's dangerous in these waters, but despite the signs i'm gonna still go fo a swim there" If you get one, chances would be high you may get more.... Perhaps i'm just edging on caution.

@@coolgamers2794 Lmao, Ive literally swam with huge sharks in pitch black water (with a flashlight) miles out in the ocean in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Night diving. It's nbd. Those sharks don't want anything to do with you. All they want is the fish you shine with your light. One moment the fish is there, the next moment the fish is gone. Shark attacks are so rare you may as well get killed in plane crash before you get attacked by a shark. If they do attack it's almost always on accident.

@@iowa887 We (my brother and I) did it in Cairns, Australia. They have dive boat charter companies where they let you borrow the gear and live on the boat (with other divers) for 5 days. Its a touristy thing. You have to get your padi (or equivalent diving) certification. But that can be done in a couple days. One day studying and taking the exam, and the next day doing a closed-water (pool) dive, and then a quick open-water (ocean) dive. Then you’re set. It’s pricey, but sure is worth it. You feel like an astronaut exploring a different world.

That "structure" (as you referred to it) was the old Seven Mile Bridge, so-called because it's 7 miles long (and two, narrow, lanes wide). It was partially demolished to prevent people from using it instead of the new Seven Mile Bridge which is 4 lanes wide. It also starred, famously, in the action movie “True Lies”.

That bridge you were fishing is actually the old Florida East Coast Railroad bridge that ran from Miami to Key West. It was partially destroyed in 1935. It was deemed cost prohibitive to rebuild it. It was converted to a road bridge, and abandoned fully when the new bridge was built right behind you. Makes for great structure! Great Vid👍

I love this. I miss fishing so much. I’m from Wisconsin, but have lives in Nebraska most my life. I haven’t been back up to Wisconsin since my Grandfather passed away. Such great memories. It’s amazing how beautiful the sport/hobby of fishing can be. It’s a little different fishing in land-locked states, but the feeling when you hook a big one is universal. Ha!!! I got mugged by a 12+ ft Hammerhead working a very similar bridge down there. I SWEAR ppl cannot understand the feeling of being in a "yak" when one of nature's true predators slams into your vessel that sits about 6 inches off the water. Talk about an adrenaline rush. Krikey!!! You never know what is below you in those waters. Damn, I miss those days!!! Can't thank you enough for taking me back there. Our fishing style may be very similar, but I have to take my hat off to you. Your ability to locate fish is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!

years ago, I used to fish from a certain bridge you are very close to, down by Big Pine Key. One night, my friend had a 14/0 spooled in one run. I would like to say it was a thousand yards of 80 or 100# line, but we already had some out. It was like hooking a submarine, it just kept going to the Bahamas, did not slow down nor a head shake. Scary! I couldn't make up my mind what it was for years because it wasn't like a tiger and damn sure had more stamina than a typical hammer. Now the sharks have returned after being fished out. I don't think you would meet any of the celebrity-sized sharks, such as Little Hitler, but I would never ever think about swimming across any cut, inlet, or tidal river in Eastern or SE Florida during the spring or summer. One good bite from a 6 ft bull shark and you will DOB. Caint spend money if you be daid.

@@larryroberts6413 The history is complicated. In general though, the automobile road crossed the gaps between the keys on bridges with enormous boxy wedding-cake pilings connected overhead by arches. Sometime in the 80's they began replacing these with more conventional pilings and a new roadbed. Sometimes they tore out the old structures but often they left them alongside the new ones as fishing piers etc. As someone who has dived every single one of them, I can tell you that the old pilings with their flat shelves underwater were abundant with marine life. Some spots, Long Key Viaduct, for example, looked almost as nice as the reefs 5 miles offshore.

Just found your channel and gotta say man, I'm a huge fan. Watched a few older ones and I really like your style. You keep your videos entertaining and you really know your stuff. No annoying music, etc. This was a great video and really enjoyed seeing you catching (and losing) some great fish. I actually yelled with you as that shark came after the grouper haha! New subscriber!

As long as I could do the cardio, I would make the swim in a heartbeat! I grew up in the keys. Not many "man eaters" normally roam down there. Respect for the kayak fishing though, that is a lot of work.

That’s freaking crazy bro. I guess it’s a risk us kayakers take though to get to the good fishing in stealth😂 I’ve only had cow nose rays circle and splash me acting like sharks, but no sharks yet. I heard in the j and h interview that you’re traveling up and down the seaboard looking for a place to really set your roots, and I think that where I live in virginia is an awesome compromise of northern and southern species. Striper, tautog, flounder/fluke, sheepshead, redfish, speckled trout and weakfish, all shark species, unfortunately sea robins and tiny sea bass tail biters, croaker, spot, cobia and more and we have a pretty good kayak fishing community around the Chesapeake bay. It’s also halfway between montauk and Charleston roughly! Easy to travel to both destinations. It would be cool to fish with you or see you fish the Chesapeake bay on the way north! Maybe some flounder reds black drum and sheepies, as well as trout whenever you head north again.

So Just a quick story. This clip was how i discovered Rich. It was on the Radio up here in Mpls, mn on 93x about the shark almost flipping the kayak. They talked about how insane you were to keep fishing. I found the clip on KZfaq here and been watching ever since! Rich was making international news.

please don't have bad matches on your kayak, get some water proof matches. if it gets really windy and rainy so you can't return to shore, you're gonna want to have some matches that will still work.

Amazing fishing! Sometimes it's like that, the conditions are right, you've found the fish, they're feeding aggressively and you catch again and again. That tarpon was huge and so was that shark. I wouldn't hang around there in a kayak after that encounter, if you got into trouble for some unexpected reason it probably wouldn't take long before becoming fish food.

Woah, this is amazing. We have a similar problem here in South Africa, sharks are thankful to the fisherman for bringing them lunch and will sit under kayaks and boats and wait! Great video, as always. Sending positive vibes your way and thank you for the awesome videos.

MATCHES PRO TIP: You don’t need to strike the entire length of the strip to light a match. In fact, you can use as little as the size of the match head. That way, you can save the strip and light more matches. Happy striking! 🔥

Rich... What a fantastic video. You really knocked yourself out. The lead up, the death preview, the overheads, the awesome action at the old bridge... just fantastic. Terrific video adventure. Thanks for all the work to put that video together. Lots of work and pre-planning. I like how you set up a quick fish-fry stop-over, half-in and half-out of the water. Haha. Nothing fancy, right? Very much appreciate all your work here at the consumer end. I'll be following you on a regular basis. Be well.
