The pullup is an exercise everyone should be using in their at home workouts. A common problem most people experience from beginner to advanced is how to increase pullup reps.
We can't promise you'll be setting world records, but you'll definitely improve your pullup endurance.

Yep this is good advice. Especially the not rushing part. I'm already 37 and started my calisthenics journey last year. I couldn't hold on to the bar at first, so I did bodyweight rows (inclined) for like months, then moved on to scapular pulls for a month, then arch hangs for a month, and now I'm doing negatives. 3 times a week bodyweight routine (full body) for an hour and a half. Last week I tried a chin-up and was surprised I could do 1. Very ecstatic. Thanks to FitnessFAQs and HybridCalisthenics for the inspiration and motivation! Just to add, I don't go to a gym. I started with whatever I could use: towels jammed to the top of a door, the railings of my bunk bed, some chairs, a table. After 6mos I bought some gymnastic rings. At about a year in I bought a proper pull-up bar. Still working out at home and it feels great. Consistency is key.

So don't worry, age slow us in the speed of gains, explosivity and increase in volume, but strenght can improve whatever the age and the older I get, the wiser I become with knowing meself and my limits. With 3 trainings a week. sometime just 2 a week if i feell that my body needs more rest. Listen to your body signs to don't get injury. I hope i will be able to do 15 pull ups in a row before my 45 next year 😉.

I've been doing pull ups for a while now, on an off about a year. I can't seem to do more than 6-8 pull ups. Mind you I'm an endurance athlete, I do pull ups slow and controlled trying to keep a good form, chin over the bar and fully extended at the bottom. And even though I do 5x6 pull ups 3-4 times a week (+2-3 days of swimming), I can't seem to ever do more, I'm just dead after the 6th, sometime I can get the 7th in. Any advice? I think I'm fairly strong, I can keep a handstand and walk on it, I was a competitive swimmer so my shoulders are fairly developed too. I used to be able to do 1-2 muscle ups too!

Pull ups are a love/hate for me. Struggling to progress, but now have set up a pulley system on my squat rack- one end of the cable secured to my climbing belt- the other has 2x10kg plates. Much better than fitness bands....

Yeah I remember when I was only able to do 3 pull-ups. Now I can do a lot. It’s all possible but you just gotta keep doing them

Always great content. I've been following your channel for a few years now, and I can definitively say you played a part in helping me develop my physique and strength. I did 5,000 pull-ups and 10,000 push-ups last year (among other exercises) and I am the strongest I have ever been. Quality > quantity.

Try supersets of pullups with low rep deadlifts. 4-6 pull-ups between sets of deadlifts, ramp up to 1-2 top sets of deadlifts with 1-5 reps. Doing your last pullup set after the last top set makes sure the heavy deadlifts make the pullups feel lighter. Use power cycles, especially for your deadlifts.

I like the greass the grove for pullup. I do my max set without trying much 2 or 3 times a day. But only one set. Went from 3 to 12 pullup in 4 months

Do you have any advice on muscle ups? I used to be able to (and I think I still have the strength to) do at least one and I practice pullups, dips, and tricep pushdowns and I know about the slight rocking motion. But I just can't seem to keep the momentum or get the technique to do it anymore.
