This is the first video on KZfaq of YJ Gap. YJ Gap is a rough trail that runs up a steep hill to a breathtaking overlook of the north Georgia Mountains. The overlook faces south. It is located in a hairpin curve on Georgia Highway 60, 1.6 miles northwest of Suches, Georgia. If you enjoyed this video and the information I provided has been useful, please consider subscribing and giving this video a thumbs up. It is greatly appreciated.
Here is some of the only information I could find on the internet about this place:

If you want a great overlook (and another challenging trail), you should take the Forest Road that goes almost to the summit of Rich Mountain between Ellijay and Blue Ridge. The key to getting the great overlook on that one is to park beside the trail when it gets about 300 yards from the summit (you gotta know the spot), and then walk the summit. In summer the leaves are too dense for a good view, but starting around November, it becomes an epic sunrise or sunset location. And just like this one, it's not well known at all. I know very few locals that even know there's a forest road that goes up there. The summit is over 4,000ft.

Just hit this trail, absolutely a hidden gem. The views were spectacular and a fun little trail. It's one way but clearly doesn't see much traffic. It definitely requires 4x4 and high clearance, but once at the top it's all worth it. Thanks for the tip!

Caleb. Just want to say that I’ve been watching your videos for a while. What I love about your videos is that you have authentic content. It’s you and your son or extended family and you guys just explore and make the most of it. I too am a Jeeper and like exploring Southern Appalachia with my son. Keep doing what you love and making memories. And feel free to keep making videos for us to watch. 👍

Thank you for the Video, we drove up a few weeks ago. since a short trail we thought not airing down would be fine, 1/2 way up at the sharp right we changed our minds. Awesome!!!!! Trail and incredible view. my Tacoma TRD OR and a stock 4runner TRD Off road. I will try and not underestimate any trail again. so worth the drive though. anything else close to there that is like that, just off the side of road? Thanks again , hope to see you out there sometime.

Went to the overlook yesterday on a dual sport. If you take a left at the overlook, they are purposely dropping trees to block the trail.
@southernappalachianrecon
@southernappalachianrecon 2 ай бұрын
Yeah the trail you are talking about follows the ridge line and dead ends at some private property. I’ve been to the end of it. Very narrow trail, nowhere to get turned around so you’ll have to back all the way out if you get to the end. There’s really nothing worth seeing down that way, the overlook is as good as it gets.

I guess you could park on the side of the highway at the bottom of this trail but there’s not tons of room. Cashes Valley Rd. is very close to Cherry Log. It’s an out and back trail with lots of water crossings west of Hwy 515.

@@southernappalachianrecon that's what made me think it wasn't a trail, I know some people wheel them but they can't do anything too serious in them haha. After watching your video I was like I wonder where they had to turn that little thing around. I'll be heading up there to check it out in the day soon. Then if all goes well I'll have to head up early enough to catch a sunrise. I've watched the sunrise from preacher's rock and it was awsome. I can imagine it will be great from there too!

@@02to06TUNDRAFAN There isn’t really anywhere to turn around at until you’re about 3/4 of the way up.
