I can understand feeling the First Officer should get recognition, but it was the Captain who was flying the plane. It was he who landed so beautifully and showed his training and knowledge. The victory is his. The First Officer will have his day, but to award a man who was just sitting next to the Captain is like in kid’s games, where everyone is a winner and has to get a prize 😡 No, this politically correct crap has got to stop. When you play Musical Chairs - there is a loser each round. Kids need to learn this, lest we wind up with anymore ‘entitled’ folks who feel they should always win, even if they’ve lost. I enjoyed the quality of production. However, I would have liked more detail on the ground preparations for the landing. I'm no expert, but I thought they usually cover part of the runway with foam to prevent fire. Your simulation showed no emergency vehicles or what happened after the landing. You guys do great work, and I am always watching for a new simulation. Keep up the great work!

The vast majority of professional airline pilots have at least equal skills and the manufacturers ensure that there is training information on coping with this very kind of thing. Almost any large-aircraft pilot could and indeed, many have, accomplished equally skillful water landings and gear-up arrivals.

There are many others who did a lot too, arguably a lot more than landing on a river. Not that Sully (not Sulle) didn’t do a great job. Some of these others landed on the ocean, some glided long distances, some were being attacked by hijackers, etc. They just weren’t American so you all didn’t make a movie about them. More exist than you know.

When I was a teenager I was aboard a private plane as we neared our destination I could see the pilot cranking away on a jack located in the floor I knew we had a landing gear problem I've seen enough tv & movies! The pilot said we had a few things left to try but we may have to do a belly landing in the end. Part of me was excited to experience a plane doing a belly landing for real, but the rest of me was terrified to be on that plane! As we continued to circle the airport the pilot finally checked out the circuit breakers after resetting a popped beaker you could hear the hum of the hydraulics lowering the landing gear, what a relief to hear that sound! we then landed safely and we never did find out the reson for the popped breaker. After it was all over a very small part of me was sad I didn't get to see a belly landing in person "hey when your a teen you're invincible" as a much older adult I think back on that experience every once in a while and realize how lucky I was the way that day turned out!

@@Artemiela - - Statistically speaking, you're safer getting on an airplane than getting in your car. But look, I'm a health professional and here's what I tell folks about medicines: there may only be a 1/2 of 1% chance of a particular side effect, but it's 100% FOR YOU if that side effect happens TO you. In life, each individual has to decide for her or himself what they're going to fear and what they're going to embrace. For me, logic dictates that I lean in the direction of the overall numbers rather than completely focus on individual incidents. That DOESN'T preclude being reasonably cautious or using due diligence to investigate particular circumstances. There's plenty of room for balance.

As a retired airline pilot, I knew the NTSB had discovered the circuit breaker...it should have been checked in flight by the QRH...there was no need to make a "gear -up" landing. Today, it's easier to make heroes instead of addressing the reality that the flight crew could have done a much better job without extensive A/C damage.

@Test Salva Checklists cannot cover all the possibilities, ultimately it comes down to the pilot competence and ability to think outside the box. People that rely on checklist fall into the routine of depending on checklist and may stop thinking. Systems awareness is crucial and sadly many pilots do not understand the systems and just rely on checklist.

While this was certainly a very heroic piece of flying and Captain Wrona deserved every bit of the praise he duly received, you would think that some manual or engineer somewhere would say, "Check the electric motor's circuit breaker."

This is a MASSIVE failure on the airlines part. How they didnt have an in house engineer or even a mechanic, tell them to check such a simple thing as a circuit breaker while in the air for 72 minutes , is SCARY!!! Lets say I wont be flying ANY Polish airline ANY time soon.

I remember following the whole flight live! All of Poland was glued to their TVs awaiting the landing! I remember though that they'd prepared the runway with some sort of foam making the plane basically glide on it. passengers later said that they thought that despite the warnings the plane landed normally as they didn't feel a single bump! It was an amazing moment!

From Wiki: The preliminary report by the SCAAI found that a hydraulic leak occurred shortly after takeoff, after the landing gear and flaps were retracted. The leak was from a flexible hose in the center hydraulic system, resulting in the loss of all fluid in that system. The drop in pressure was indicated by the EICAS and recorded by the flight data recorder. Later investigation indicated a popped circuit breaker just to the right of the F/O at floor level would have enabled the electric motor for releasing the undercarriage. The breaker was reset after landing and the undercarriage extended normally. From B767 FCOM: Preliminary Preflight Procedure -> Do the remaining actions after a crew change or maintenance actions -> Circuit breakers -> Check From Final report: If the Pre-Flight Check procedure described in "Boeing 767 Operations Manual, Part B, Volume 1, Normal Procedures, page NP.21.1." "(Figure 26) was performed correctly in Newark, that means that during that check C829 circuit breaker was still in ON/closed setting.

Fully cat Savage i am a real pilot who flys real airplanes I know the procedures for gear failure and dumping fuel, I gartuntee it's alot harder in real life than playing on simulator. When you have to do it in life then tell me how hard it is, the difference between real and a game is in real life you get one chance to do it right and on a simulator you can do it over and over. On some planes you can't dump fuel you go into a holding pattern and burn the fuel off.
