This is very true. My aunt used to tell me don’t go in the sun you will get dark and I didn’t understand it then but now I think about it and it pretty problematic lol

It exist, because naturally ancient indians were not dirty or physically unattractive. There is so much historical evidences shows that people ancient india were 5.9 inches tall (average) if you compare to egyptian and greeks 5.7 inches (average). The greek inscriptions shows that indian soldiers were 6ft tall. We were well built and had a good diet. But after *slamic and british invasions our diet,culture,clothing all changed. We felt like inferiors to the invaders. Because the invaders were mostly pale skinned turks and britishers. Some inferior indians thought that having pale/fair skin makes you superior. Bollywood has promoted it further. Also the geography and change of climate affects the Out looking of a person. Most of the indians still have tanned to wheatish skintone, it varies region to region. Like Northerns are mostly light brwon to tann skinned wherous southerners mostly dark brown to olive skinned. Although our genetics are same. I am proud to born in this land where one of the ancient civilisation started and still exist. Bharat(indian subcontinent) Since 3300 BCE -(maybe more)
