19/5 /99 , My Upanayanam day , going from 9th to 10th Std.,India lose to Zimbabwe on that day and that has sealed the fate of India in that WC . i was doing pooja in one hand , transistor in another hand .

It was a mixed bag performance for India, won against: Pak, SL, Eng and Kenya. But lost some key matches against Zimbabwe, Australia and NZ.

The Indian team of that era was very erratic. Big players like Tendulkar managed to get big scores against weaker teams like Kenya and Zimbabwe, and on home grounds, but failed abroad. The team as a whole did not function as a cohesive unit. Far too many matches were lost from winning positions, and we sucked at chasing. Many of the batsmen were ungainly and tentative, and the fielding was below average. It was only in 2001 after that famous win against Australia that things began to improve for team India.

We scored 58 in first 11 overs (b/w 1 to 11) which was very good start. 26/1 in 5 overs 58/2 in 11 overs And then came 97/3 in 23 overs ... this is where we allowed NZ to take control. India scored 39 runs in thos 12 overs to reach 97 in 23 overs that is really slow given Ganguly as opener had faced 60+ balls scoring only 29 runs. Ajay and Azhar played well to make some recovery to reach 187 in 41 overs. This was a batting wicket and 270+ was a excellent score for team batting first. We scored 54 in 6 overs towards last (b/w 41.3 to 47.3) At this moment everyone was expecting India to put up 265 - 270 runs on board but the fall of Jadeja at 47.3 was a huge setback and then Robin (last batsman who could score big) got runout at 48 was a another big setback. In last 2 overs we scored 8 runs with 4 wickets in hand, scoring 251 in 50 overs. This was a still a fighting total, but on a batting track NZ came with a attacking game plan specially against diller bowlers like Ganguly and Robin score 42 runs in their 6 overs at crucial moment of game. All in all , it was slow batting that cost us the match followed by poor planning and use of non regular bolwers at crucial stage. This was a effectively a QF final and we disn't put up our best game fwd and lost.

But ind aus aur nz se harkar bahar hui wc se.. Tab mai 12 saal ka tha mera first wc jo ache se yaad hai.. Lance klusner aur sa ki team meri fav thi after ind ke but ohh bhi semifinal mai unfortunately har kar bahar hui.. Beda garg ho Australia ka😂
