Urdu poetry ... the language was made to tell stories in poetry and Allama Igbal ... master of it. So many layers here if you know. I had hard time understanding some of the Urdu because I have been in the US for 32 years now. There was a time when in school I won Urdu debates and even recited Allama Iqbal's poetry in competition. Thanks for reminding me what a great poet he is. Cheers from a Pakistani American

*Now please listen to "Jawab e Shikwa" in which Allama Iqbal gives answers to the questions raised in "Shikwa" basically replies to why we Muslims are suffering now in Jawab e Shikwa and in Jawab he told that it's our own mistakes because of which we are suffering. So some people say why this and that so Iqbal raise questions and then he replies in Jawab e Shikwa that it's because of our own faults that we are suffering now and are in this current position now*

Fun fact: Dr Iqbal came under extreme criticism for writing shikwa due to all the controversial lines. It was only after Jawab-e-Shikwa that he was pardoned by the general public. apparently, his poetry was way too ahead of his time! His most controversial work is now regarded as his greatest work. People have done PhDs over this :)

Interesting info. When Iqbal wrote this molvies of India (subcontinent) declared him kafir and gave fatwa to kill him. After that he wrote jawab e shikwa (reply of complaint) Shikwa is complaint of Muslim to Allah and jawab e shikwa is reply of complaint from Allah. You must watch jawab e shikwa
