Cold muddy day today, typical February weather. All the outside jobs are done so it’s time for some fabric playing.

I am enjoying your videos and there are some i watch more than once. I am finding some new to me videos while going through my daily feed! I love blues and purples best, but if there is something that speaks to me it gets to join my stash. When i was younger my summers were spent on vacations with my aunt and we would do a varitey of hobbies. Did macrame, counted cross stitch, embroidery and shopping for beads and whatever spoke to us. She passed away several years ago and not a day goes by that i don't think of her and miss her. These days beads and fabrics are my pastimes. However, sometimes i will make something macrame. My last go was dog leashes. Challenging, yet fun. I saved several for my dogs, they are not spoiled at all ❤❤❤

I've been wondering why you make such cool stuff? Omg we are kids of the 60's huh? Beatles and make love not war? Macrame, beads... It was a lil before our time but we Injested it from our nation around us, and we loved it. I see it in all you do, in the life you make for yourself and why I am drawn to your lifestyle. We all yearn for a simpler life, where we don't run to the store and buy it, yet make it. I'm gonna get my John Lennon albums out and imagine today. Xoxo to you always, raineyC.

I'm sort of binge-watching some projects from the last few years. Recently saw the "What does Kate do all day?" video where you finished the indigo curtains, so it was a pleasant surprise when this popped up from 3 years ago, and I can see how it all started. I hope I never run out of LHH videos to watch. It may be a little quirky, but I do enjoy the videos where you tidy up and clean out drawers and such -- although I do not do my own often enough. Thanks for all the videos -- from the end of the Lime Green Sofa that is here in West Texas.

I also saw the finished indigo curtains and am very happy to stumble across this video! Recently dyed (with commercial dye) some white cotton fabric with indigo, after seeing Kate's experiments. Would like to make some curtains in a similar was to these ones of Kate's.

HOWDY 💜🇺🇸👩🎤 Hello Kate. , I have never done fabric dyeing or book binding so I really looking forward to those videos. The technic for sewing your curtains makes the courtian look similar to stained glass windows .I especially like the curtains that are off set in uniformed size. Just a little note : Hope Hilda is doing well There used to be a husband and wife team of evangelists on the television. She, the wife had a pet chicken when she was young and would tell stories about her chicken and all the really smart things it could do. Perhaps Hilda will prove to surprise you with gratitude and become a real winner. Secondly, your dear cats love you lots Signing off Scott's wife Vickie

Lynn Marie the striped ones are a little lighter weight, not too light so it will mix in with the average weight cotton. We’re due to have really cold weather next week, so no indigo dyeing until the last of the snow, because it’s an outside job for sure! Im not too bothered about the mixed weight. They are just scrappy curtains. I think they will be fun 🤔

Getting back to watch some more videos in chronological order. How do you spell the name of the Korean sewing tradition you use for the curtains? We have had a record cold month of February and just had what they called a "bomb" winter storm over the weekend. That's where the atmospheric pressure in the storm's center drops to severe hurricane levels but over the land mass, not the ocean. It was named "Ulmer" and will be remembered for decades, no doubt, for much destruction in the central corridor of the USA. Winds here were very strong but the snowfall did not amount to as much as was predicted. Thankfully our ranch did not lose electricity, so we are okay and the livestock is okay. I have not been out of the house for 5 weeks, except to shovel snow off a bit of the porch and start to break through snow drifts around the house so we can walk on solid ground out to where we might be able to get a vehicle near the yard eventually. I don't mind the seclusion. I have been organizing my sewing "stuff" and puttering at the machine sewing scraps together ... getting my mojo primed for a real (serious) quilting project. I am looking forward to the dying episodes. I love indigo. I have limited dying experience (think RIT powder) from the tie-dye T shirts in the 70s and a few garments I have tried to rescue from accidental staining or bleach exposure. Thanks for the (housebound) visit.
@thelasthomelyhouse5 жыл бұрын
pojagi Well Holly - I really shouldn't complain about the weather - I had Storm Gareth visit me and it did take out power and knock out the boiler. I got it fixed with a few days though. I hope you have spectacular summers to counterbalance that snow? Enjoy your puttering! xxx

The Last Homely House East of the Sea I made it out to church today! The snow plow came and opened up the road to the ranch yesterday. This homestead is located in what we call "the breaks" ... high, rolling hills all around the ranch yard. The upper Great Plains are notoriously windy so we get a lot of snow drifts. So the plow only opened up the road. We still have loads of snow in the yard among the buildings. Warm days coming so I'm hoping I can beat the melting and get some drainage paths shoveled through the drifts so we don't have basement flooding. But grateful for the day's successes ... I got out to church after being isolated for 5 weeks, we got a new air compressor set up so were able to re pressurize tires on the tractor and old ranch pickup, we got our big tractor started and began scooping snow to clear the dooryard, we got the chore pickup dug out and onto the road, and I've got corned beef in the slow cooker just ready to add the potatoes, carrots, and cabbage for our St. Patty's Day supper. Hmmm ... do I have time to make some soda bread? I'll have to check out a recipe. Thanks for the pojagi answer (boy, auto correct doesn't like that word, does it?) Do you recall if you did a demonstration on a video. Or maybe I need to check out your Instagram --- I have not done much on that platform. I need to see what it's all about.
