works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside kzfaq.infoUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

Steel Cut Oats. Toast 1 cup oats in 1 Tablespoon butter, add 3 1/2 cups water, 1/4 teaspoon salt. PC 10 min, NR minutes, stir, cool and refrigerate. 4 breakfasts for me. ( Fat keeps it from foaming over)

I eat almost no carbs, so my favourite things to cook regularly are: brisket (so good!), beef heart, beef tongue (delicious!), ribs (finish quickly under the broiler), whole chicken, bone broth, eggs. I've found that rice doesn't bother my gut like other carbs, so I do cook rice, but I still don't eat very much. I also rinse my rice really well, soak 2 cups overnight with 2-3 T of buckwheat groats to reduce the phytic acid (you can't taste the buckwheat in the cooked rice), discard the soaking water and rinse really well again. This reduces the amount of arsenic by about 82%. Some ice doesn't have as much arsenic as others. You can read about that online. You can also cook rice just like pasta in 5-6 times as much water as rice... and NO that does NOT make mushy rice. It's a very common way to cook rice in India. There are KZfaq videos on how to do that. It also helps reduce the arsenic. Children, especially babies take in more arsenic than adults because of their size, so please rinse rice that you plan to feed your baby and avoid things like rice cakes and rice baby cereal. There's lots of research online that you can check. In Canada, one consumer agency did a whole TV show on various rice-based baby food products and it was scary how much arsenic was in them. They also tested both moms and babies, and the babies had significantly more arsenic in their bodies than the moms.

This was very helpful. My mother cooked with what was known as a “pressure cooker” ( for the young ‘uns) every week for Sunday dinners. She stayed ahead of the game having 8 kids coming home hungry after church. She bought me an instant pot 7 years ago and it’s still in the box unopened! My son is so smart he bought one for Christmas and has been using it already. I will pass your video on! Thanks for sharing and everyone’s tips.

Great Northern beans. We love 'em for everything. In fact, what I do is... Take the remnants of Costco rotisserie chicken, and make a broth (20 minutes, w/ quick release), piece apart the cooked chicken and set aside. Use the broth to cook the dried Great Northern beans (26 minutes, quick release), and then make my soup from combining the leftover chicken, a chopped onion, a bunch of spices (lots of sage, thyme, black pepper, bay leaves, etc) on another 5 minutes w/ quick release. So, with only about an hour of total time, I've got the BEST leftovers imaginable.

Eggs and my husband and I love hot cereal ,steel cut oat meal and I don’t have to stand there and stir & stir & stir for 25 or 30 mins it comes out great every time and blueberries thrown in is an added bonus .. but I cook in my instant pot a lot thru the week . Tonight my hubby wasn’t feeling very well he said I just want tomato soup and grill cheese sandwich. So I had a bunch of tomatoes and basil and an onion & garlic from garden ..I thru together a delicious homemade tomato basil soup. I had never done it before took 4 mins in the instant pot. I use mine to make Chili! I usually soak the beans in the pot with a silicone lid and transfer them to a bowl beforehand. Then the saute feature does wonders with garlic, onions, and meat. Since it's hard to overcook beans I find their texture nearly perfect every time.

Everyone! Please wash your rice very well. I just learned that many rice varieties have arsenic in them...some natural some not. Washing doesn't remove it all, but it helps. Children especially vulnerable.

Thanks to you, I finally cooked eggs in my IP. My son loves egg salad sandwiches. I was amazed at how “clean” the salad looked w/o that greenish color around the yolks. Thanks for the potato idea i hadn’t thought to air fry them after cooking, i don’t do many potatoes since i don’t use many steam potatoes.. My every week food : hard cooked eggs, pasta but not with red sauce, usually dairy and cheese, i cook a lot of Indian dishes and so use the pot in pot method for rice. Instant pot makes a killer keema biryani.

The point of rinsing rice is to remove residual dirt, and remove some of the starch (white water is starch being removed). You won’t die or anything just cooking rice out the bag. If you’re like me and don’t like a ton of starch in your diet, you’ll want to rinse rice 2-3 times, and soak potatoes... On pasta, replace water with chicken broth for added flavor and a thicker finished sauce. It’s delicious!

@granny grumbles I like my beans really soft. I cook for 10 minutes high pressure(this replaces soaking over night) empty the water, then refill water and cook for 60 more minutes. I usually forget about them so I natural pressure release for at least 10 minutes. Start to finish with coming to pressure and release times it is less than 2 hours. But they come out super soft. Stevie Willett-Shaw 1 second ago Like to suggest sautee-ing the "meat" with onions/garlic or their powders with oil. I would not cook the meat completely, just a quick sear, for flavor. Remove with slotted spoon. Add the other ingredients, and put the meat on top of the marinara, then add the uncooked pasta and proceed from their. This saves a step, saves cleanup and adds flavor from the sautee fond...

You might try the method of covering the beans with at least 2" of water, bring to pressure for 0 (1 if it won't do 0) minutes and let sit an hour. Then rinse beans and pressure cook as you normally would. You can also let them soak a day but you need to change the water a few times.

Washing the rice don’t make it taste different it is just to get the extra starch out of the rice that’s why people rinse the rice till the water is clear. And also people wash it to get the little debris out.

SAHM With a Plan - I tried the no-wash method once, and it resulted in a webby stickiness between the grains from all the starch. Yuck. I always wash it till the water runs clear (or close to clear) now.

Great video! It looks like you steamed the potatoes for 15 minutes? I've never tried that. So I love to make pinto beans, ostensibly for refried beans, but the broth is so good, we've been eating it as soup. 1# dried pinto beans, 32oz broth (I like Trader Joe's low sodium if I don't have homemade), 3-4 cups water, minced garlic and jalapeño, diced onion, cumin, oregano, s&p. 30 min pressure, natural release.
