What is inductance in a coil? I mean the magnetic field a coil generates is inductance or emf generated in the coil is inductance??

A coil produces a self induced voltage across it was it tries to resist changes in current. Inductance is measured in henries. 1 H inductor produces 1 V of self induced voltage when the current changes 1 A per second. I would say the coil generates the inductance. Does that help?

Current lags voltage by 90 degrees and resisting change in current (in an inductor) thru self induced voltage? The math is much too difficult for an early learner. Thank you
