Army Infantryman here, What i love here the most, The sheer amount of magazines. Too many times iv watched other peoples setups that have all the bells and whistles, but the weight they choose to lose is in the mags. Theyll have 3-6 mags and thats it. Theres no way you trust your aim that much or that your fighting would be so limited. In Afghanistan i was running 10 magazines like you are with another 300 rounds still packaged in my backpack for repack ammo.

Great video dude. There are so many infantrymen running around with kit that just doesn't make sense. Always essential to teach junior Marines smart kit so they don't immediately hit the PX for Condor pouches.

I run a pop flare pouch on my ruck sack. It holds my folding saw. The double mag pouch on my ruck has pruning shears, and 7 inch tent stakes for a shelter. My e-tool pouch has my e-tool of course, and a set of deer leather gloves for hand protection. I love repurposing surplus pouches. It's just less expensive. LOL

Retired Army 1992. OMG how things have changed since I first got in the military vietnam era to retirement. You guys have so much more gear and equipment that I would have killed to have. Great setup. The only note I have is to keep the white tab on the tourniquets open, when you're in a rush to apply a tourniquet you don't want to be fiddling with something so small.

For the water situation, US forest service water bottles are slimmer and lighter than Nalgene bottles. I know they're hard to find now but well worth the effort in finding them, they also hold the same amount as a Nalgene.

Good series. One suggestion from an old Marine. As you said, water is your primary need. A Camelback or canteens with out the capability to refill is not a good idea as in many places, good water does not grow or come from every tree. If you carry the small Sawyer that screws on a good size raw water collection pouch, you have a ready to refill system that will fit almost flat in one of those rear Camelback pouches and weigh practically nothing. If each individual does not have this capability, every fireteam should have at least two such systems. The only exception is in severe cold where you would put a used Sawyer tube in a zip lock and wear it against your body.The pieces are a system and should be kept together. Semper Fi

Shaw Concepts has some well-thought-out products. I previously used an issued Gen2 carrier with the Shaw Concepts Arc Placard (using the 4 mag insert) with a Blue Force Gear Triple Ten-Speed mag pouch over it, the Shaw Concepts Arc Cummerbunds, a slim 5.11 admin pouch, along with a few other items. I use one issued double mag pouch on my left cummerbund towards the front as a radio pouch. I've since moved the whole setup to the Shaw Concepts ARC carrier and replaced the admin pouch with the Shaw Concepts admin pouch. It's worked great so far on deployment.

Waistband for the carrier, I still had 6 to 7inches left of the band to still adjusted and I wear size 14 to 16 pants size. The product super easy to use and comfortable.

I'm a marine vet myself. Was in from 2009-2013 was with 3rd recon and 2nd marsoc/msog and my whole enlistment I used the crye jpc/jpc 2.0 and still use it to this day and love it I also use my issued eagle industries Camelback backpack on the back of my rig as well

I like the idea of having a backpack in conjunction to a plate carrier. Some backpacks don't fit you right if you have a carrier on. I found that the Camelbak HAWG and Linchpin packs fit me perfectly while wearing my carrier. I am also not a fan of the zip on backpack panels because that is super uncomfortable while sitting in a vehicle and you can't access anything yourself without taking off your carrier. I like the idea of taking a backpack off while keeping your plates on. Both my Camelbaks have quick disconnects on the shoulder straps so it's easy to take off in a hurry. Using a backpack allows me to have more than enough room for my gear and I have the option to carry extra stuff if needed.

On the aspect of keeping electrical tape, I take an old ID or something if that size/stiffness, and I wrap it in duct tape, and pick a random slot of molle and fill it with zipties, as far as admin, first spear makes a really good small one, GRG style

The upper front of my plate carrier has one of those double 40mm grenade pouches. I keep a Multitool in one side and either a tourniquet or flashlight in the other. It doesn't impede my access to my mags at all.

I use the ice plate hydration carrier on back of my plate carrier works great

Gentlemen & even ladies: Marine here. Has anyone noticed that the majority of the putatively high-speed, low-drag “cool” KZfaq and internet traffic is all about special this and special that? Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s great that all branches have some kind of special ops, critical skills operators. Some exist for direct action missions. Some exist for mostly reconnaissance missions. Some exist for SAR and extraction missions and the list goes on. But, as a just vanilla , plain Marine (tongue-in-cheek), is it now the case that there is nothing cool, interesting or worth talking about when it comes to meat-eating, Tyrannosaurus infantrymen? As if it only takes guts to do what the Tier I operators do. I think it takes just as much, if not more in some cases, when you know that massive contact is on its way and perhaps the G2 isn’t all that clear about what you’re walking into. Just drawing from the history taught us in our training, take Belleau Wood (I know Army, you were there too); take Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Pellilu. Either these Marines were facing well-trained Huns using poison gas, machine gun palooza and hand to hand combat in the Wood, or you were facing hundreds of fanatical Japanese and their nighttime Banzai attacks and sappers infiltrating the lines, or maybe dug-in, defense in depth fanatics who literally have to be burned out like so many ill-mannnered, blood-sucking ticks, or maybe three divisions of NVA with constant bombardment and night attacks for a few hundred Marines at Khe Sanh, or even hundreds of thousands of maniacal Red Chinese at Chosin Reservoir. It seems to me that the knowledge that you had to have your head on a swivel 24/7 with no sleep, maybe no water, plenty of dead buddies, would be enough to compare favorably with our fine folks in the critical skills department at SOCOM. Yet, If you watch enough KZfaq, you notice that all of the “cool” stuff only covers the Tier I ops where contact sometimes is a mission FAILURE. I don’t think that the “special” forces, or any of these other brothers are any more special than the rest of us lying face down in the mud either. It’s all the same mission: kill people and break things, yet, it’s only cool if you can roll non-regulation personal grooming standards and uniforms. Cmon. Let’s just all be happy that we have the best peeps for any mission requirement. Fair enough?

To replace the camelback bladder, look up the iceplate curve. It’s a plastic container shaped like an armor plate but it’s like a camelback bladder with a hose and everything. Don’t have to worry about it popping when you’re rucking. Semper fi motivator

Rear dangler tub medical kit will hold large water bottles perfectly! Could even use a hand warmer and add shock cord around it to cinch it down.. for same concept.. Anyone who been foot mobile vs vehicle.. there’s three things you can’t have enough.. water, ammo and grenades. I got water on the plate, belt and ruck. Now with belt Nalgene I have to remove the bottles and place them in the ruck when carrying together cause the interfere with a ruck. Small assault back though isn’t an issue.. I’m about to remove the belt and try the rear dangler for a 1.5ish size water battle.. I think I could get a full 38 Nalgene in a hand warmer with some shock cord though.. and that should still work with a full ruck As for the pouch on the bladder.. I use it for a water cleaning kit only.. then as you say I’ll throw in a small sustainment/emergency kit if going wo a pack.. but I almost never have that issue cause I always have some form of smaller pack in my ruck or on my ruck shorter ops unless vehicle based. I’ll usually throw a couple basic water bottles in with the 3l bladder to have a quick top up for it just in case.. I also have a collapsed water bag in there as well for quick sourcing water with couple tabs cause you don’t want to put tabs in a bladder with unfiltered water that is a disaster.. takes up no extra room even in a small pack like this.. one bottle sits each side of the bladder and the rest under in the bottom of the pack i also ass shock cord inside all my hydration packs to put more pressure on them cause we all know how shitty they can get if you are prone and under 50% capacity in the bladder.. those compression bands and outside straps only do soo much..

The thing about red lamps is that the light doesn’t reflect off of things like white light does. If you’re using a red light to look at a map on the ground, for example, it won’t illuminate your position. Red light also protects your eyes from loosing focus and what not after they’ve adjusted to the darkness.

Love your videos man. Quick question for ya. How are you running your plate carrier and pistol belt with a main back? I’ve always had issues with carrying so much shit that I need to buckle the hip belt and then I need to stow the pistol belt in my pack until we drop packs and begin patrolling.

In my limited experience and in my current physical shape I could not operate in that kit. It is very important to run your gear for hours if you can. To use a rig like that you have to be a beast and be fit and strong. Find a rig that works for you I personally like light weight. But that has lots of down falls also.

When I was in the Marine corps late 80s we Disney have any of this stuff just a flak jacket I didn’t even have a turnaquit.

red light at night isn't to conceal the beam or reduce its visibility, it is because the red doesn't neutralize the rhodopsin in the rods of your retina so it doesn't disrupt your night vision

Have you heard/tried esstac? They have quad and triple mag placards. Medium and tall. They run great. They have the retention on the inside as well.

Everyone is chiming in on the water solution, I concur I‘ve had problems with all options I’ve tried. With bladders on my back I’ve found they get crushed and sometimes pop when donning my pack, also interfere with my caatail antenna. In place of your simp pouch, I saw someone run a Roll 1 pouch without the insert but a longer/smaller diameter Nalgene. I’ll try it out but maybe it’s something worth the experiment

Yeah red light is to help keep your natural night vision, it so you don't have to readjust to the dark

I know you went with the Shaw cummerbund, but when you had the LBT SRT cummerbund do you know what the two inner elastic bands are for? LBT's website says "Elastic retention on cummerbund for chem lights and breaching tools" and it makes no sense to me. The elastic is too loose to actually assist the cummerbund in function, so if I can't see the need I am going to cut mine off. Its just that it was obviously time and labor intensive to stitch channels and slot those things that I keep thinking they have to be important but I don't see how you can hang chem lights and breaching tools off of internal elastic. Thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Okay... I have to ask, since it's something I'm considering for my PC: would you use ITW Fast Mag pouches. The setup I have in mind for my roll is four ITW Fast Mag pouches (one piggy backing)?

How did you attach the SC Arc Placard to your SRT? Does the SRT Kangaroo pouch detach? Or did you use the SC MAP system directly over your kangaroo pouch? What swift clip system did you attach to the SRT? AXL?

LBT is good gear but WAYYY overpriced. Better off with CRYE JPC2.0 if you're looking for budget friendly. There are a bunch of other good options out there these days. Let me ask you this though - how do you go prone with 6 mags upfront?

I’d rather have the 6mags and rest in my pack. All that ammo all over makes you bulky and being streamlined is better in my opinion.

I know this has little to do with the video but you said the garmin device is able to be tracked: how so? A garmin foretrex is only able to receive and not transmit so how could it possibly be tracked? Just a honest question.

Let me preface this with we all get hung up on the minutia, so you may have found this to be entirely irrelevant to you, but I always like to hear other peoples opinions, anyway. Seems like those magazines are oriented towards a strong arm instead of towards week arm, making for action movement to turn them around and put them in the rifle. maybe I’m looking at the video wrong like it’s flipped or something, or you found it to be an irrelevant issue. I find myself yelling at my rookies all the time to fix their mags, but I’d like to hear your opinion on the matter. Stay safe out there devil dog.

Looks a modern infantry trooper cannot perform a low crawl. In flat open country with little concealment and no cover, that could be a problem.

I gotta say man, I always hated having double stacked mags on the front. It makes getting in the prone and sighting in uncomfortable as fuck. Gun belts are way.

GPS devices are passive only. They are only receivers, they don't transmit a signal. There is no way to track a Garmin gps, unless the user of that Garmin has connected the device to a network-enabled device like a phone, and THAT device has been exploited.

Plates definitely have value BUT I can say from personal experience plates offer only LIMITED protection. Most of your body is still exposed so be that you and your battle buddies carry appropriate IFAKs and tourniquets and kNOW how to use them.

Protection only from the front and back and only against gunfire. Ignore your exposed sides and Zero Protection against shrapnel. 0/10 ngmi and that's good

Decision to wear or not wear plates isn’t a topic of discussion. It’s based on what the commanders intent is and your mission set. If you’re on surveillance then of course a chest rig, if you’re on a security patrol then 100% wear plates. It’s not fucking rocket science.

Thanks but no) War in Ukraine shows that setups like these can only ruin your back and knees.. warbelt is the solution, warbelt with clear plate carrier (maximum 3 fastmags and radio) ps try with normal warbelt and you will never hang a lot of weight again)
