A review of the Infinity Pencil, purchased through AliExpress.
A woodless, graphite-free "pencil", the Infinity Pencil uses a tip made of an (unspecified) alloy to leave graphite-like markings. But how does the thing write?

You've opened me up to a whole new realm of pencils this design and concept is intriguing and def. Intriguing before graphite was ever used.

I love that long tip you got on the Moon pencil. Does it have a larger than normal core?

It does. That's what's so good about these intermediate Try-Rex pencils. Big core-to-case ratio.

I am totally stumped why the erasers are just loose. Like why? Is there something obvious about some design aspect that I am missing where the eraser is more easily utilized than just holding it by itself and hoping it doesn’t snap? What am I missing? Surely this isn’t the way it was actually designed to be?

I'm stumped as well. They clearly are repurposing the body that was stolen from Lamy pens. Maybe they just figured a pencil needs an eraser, and shoved that in there. Makes no logical sense.

I KID YOU NOT when I say I literally came to youtube JUST to find WHY this infinity/eternal pencil IS the way it is. The loose eraser just annoys me

It would have been more of a comparison if you hade used the same hardnes om the "pencil" as the infinity pen

There's an anecdote in Henry Petroski's book "The Pencil" in which an executive of the Eagle Pencil Co wanted to demonstrate their Turquoise pencil's ability to hold a "needle point"; he fixed the pencil to the arm of a phonograph and played "The Star Spangled Banner."

Is it like a mechanical pencil?

Not really: there are no moving parts. There is no mechanism to advance the "lead" because the "lead" doesn't move. It's a very strange pencil.

@@user-jn1cs6be4o definitely not. Totally different. Every mechanical pencil uses graphite leads. This uses something else entirely. And it simply doesn't work well.

The plastic parts are repurposed, they are made for fountain pens, I have some

They copied the design of the Lamy Safari. While this is cool, it feels wrong to purchase something that looks like a fake😔
