@@teodora7219 @Teodora It's the opposite for me 🙃. I love listening to music in general, heck even when I'm doing exams or work I have a song in my head like 80% of the time 😂 (it is also more pronounced when the task is kind of easy). It brought so much feelings to me, mostly good ones but there are songs that nearly can brought me tears (Fix You by Coldplay is one of them), because I feel like they are somewhat relatable. I however don't listen to many genres of music (only Rock, Progressive Rock, a bit of Hard Rock, a bit of Pop and various songs from movies or games). And I agree with you that there are periods of time when I want to listen to a specific song or to a specific artist. However it's so true that hearing loud noises can be extremely unpleasant, like being exposed to powerful and/or flashing lights.

Really? I don’t really mind that if I’m by myself. Since I don’t know anybody doesn’t really matter what I do. Admittedly I can only do a few hours. I get more overstimulated when there are a lot of people I know and I have to hang out with. I do better with 2 - 4 groups, 6 and more it’s starts to be too much. Cause I change my persona to them

Accurate. I like to think of us as human-ish. We're definitely not better than other people/ types. But we're not quite the same either; we're built different in a way that can't perfectly be expressed. We're made of the wordless language that the mind speaks. Seemingly connected to everything & everyone, but not quite "fitting" in a way that can be classified WITH anything else.

It’s weird seeing someone describe you to a T. Like this is exactly me. So this is might sound unbearably irritating. But I often see myself as someone who has a superpower that I don’t want to use. Like a superpower that somehow exhausts me. It’s exhausting. I only help people who ask me for help I never do it unsolicited and then I tell them the truth and try to guide them if I sense they are open to working on themselves. It’s both a high and a low. And it requires so much energy I hide away. I don’t know.. it’s a pretty fucked up personality type. It sounds way better than it is.

I'm very shy too! You aren't alone. My shyness is overwhelming in a group of people I don't know at all. In groups where I know one or more people, even if I don't know them well, I do the social chameleon thing. If a person is known enough by me to have at least one trait or behavior be predictable or reliable, my behavior will blend with theirs and I'll feel more comfortable and less shy. For example, if the only thing I know about about a person is that they like to talk, I'll be the one to listen so that they can have the spotlight. If I know they don't talk, I'll actually be the one to talk, at least until an extrovert shows up (lol!)

Much as my not caring or being tuned into what other people thought about it as much. Also, we need to remember... WE are the ones over thinking, other people are tuned into a completely different channel. They're focused on completely different things than us. That helped me a lot recently. I wish I had known INFJ was a neurological thing and not a 'personality' thing way back when. It makes it much easier to accept when you know it's inborn and there's absolutely nothing you can do about being so sensitive. I heard one INFJ KZfaqr describe a 'normal' person as having an energy field that extends about 12" in all directions, while an INFJ has an energy field that extends 12 feet. Or in other words anyone within a 12 foot radius has the power to disrupt our vibes. Sucks to be us, unless of course everyone's having a good time, then it's fantastic being us.

This was extremely accurate. I love being a people solver and I think that comes from insights that come forward due to connecting patterns. We utilize and remember patterns always. They are stuck Deep in our memory and are like pieces of a puzzle. When the last piece of the puzzle enters our consciousness, it feels like an epiphany or a great AHA MOMENT. I love when that happens and when it’s about someone else it’s always right. I would like to share with them howi reached this conclusion but there are no words to explain. It took a number of pieces and the gaining of insights and intuitively I know it’s correct without a doubt. But only another INFJ would understand what that means. Other types sense the profundity but aren’t totally convinced until the reality of the insight comes to pass. Then they think we’re psychic or magical. But often times the patterns have been building for years to finally come to one conclusion. It’s pretty cool when that happens. I also love comments from other INFJs. I can always count on them to be deep, intelligent and insightful. No shallow small talk here! NEVER.

You are spot on. But I don't think I can solve people very well, in the end they sort of have to "solve themselves". But that's because I see already things coming but people don't and they just don't see the connections. Which as a result is like talking to a wall. I can however convince someone but it's not the same as changing someone's negative mindset, I can only give incentives but they must ultimately do it themselves. But give me a problem and I'll give you a solution, it spurs on my creativity and I like that. I liked that you described us as the thinking people's feelers, that's exactly how it is (I'd say that ISFJs are also like that but in a different way). I'm recently trying to tap into a specific problem and find out what's the truth about it, so I read a lot on the topic but am irritated by people's mindless ramblings without any overarching interconnections and without substance. Giving an example of a specific thing is absolutely no proof that it is this way in general! You need more of the same examples, lol. And so it goes.

Our job as INFJs is to ever so gently steer people, not solve them. Using a light touch with a lot of people can have a big effect - better than big influence on a few.
@PriHL
@PriHL Жыл бұрын
@@cynthiajohnson9412 I think it's the other way round. Often it's better to change things on a small scale, people go with it into the world and it spreads. And what realistic possibility does a single person have to have influence on a lot of people (unless you're already famous and privileged - and even then?)? Not much. Make a change where you can to make your immediate environment better. If everyone does it this way, things will change for the positive. Gentle influence does not exclude big influence.
@cynthiajohnson9412
@cynthiajohnson9412 Жыл бұрын
@@PriHL I think INFJs intuitively understand persuasion. Changing someone's mind is a gradual thing. You're right, it works in drip and drabs. If at all. But people are starving for truth tellers who aren't pushing or selling anything but the truth. INFJs aren't ego driven so we don't expect people to suddenly do a 180 and then thank us for 'enlightening' them. Lol. We work though the ideas, and people can take them or leave them but we know how to make a good case and highlight the common sense and the benefit of wisdom, and since we aren't attached to ego we can let that go where it will. And being INFJs we know anything done quickly can be undone just as quickly (to paraphrase the I Ching) We're not trying to tell people what to do, we're not trying to 'educate' people, we're just offering good guidance. Just putting the truth out there without any particular aim at a outcome or a person or group can be very powerful. Most of what we are tapping into is floating around in the cosmic collective anyway, we just receive and translate. It's already out there, we're just the oracles. If you need an example, this is it. I'm not telling INFJs what to do or what to say - they already know. I'm just encouraging them to speak-out. The chips are gonna fall where they may, but that's not our problem, or even concern. Our job is to just call them as we see them.

"The thinking person's feeler"... made me flashback to so many shituations where I was amongst some of the most brilliant minds I had available to intermesh with and am usually teased for my e.f. nature while amongst the group but often get pulled aside, for one on one q&a or in depth counseling type session by an individual from these groups of primarily thinkers to talk about the feels in private. It's like everyone is too cool to acknowledge their own hearts/emotional selves when engaged in a community setting but can't stand to allow their own intuition and emotional parts and pieces to atrophy. T'is my pleasure to be of service.... Very true, this & I keep a lot of others' secrets, subconsciously brewed fears and associated personal problems locked in the vault of my own heart and head that belong to my friends, lovers and family. Kinda cute, really... especially those muey macho men friends of mine that wouldn't be caught dead around their friends talking about what we do in private. 😇😏🤐🤫 Seem to have a strong animus and probably score highly on the autism spectrum as far as the sensory overload. Honestly, there are many things I mind in being this type. Like feeling someone’s energy through a screen, especially when they want to impose their presence, or simply force their opinion on others. I would say that’s the quickest way to anger me (though, I guess that’s more my enneagram having a say). There are really a lot of things that can, at times, feel more burdensome. I try to change my mindset and not look at it like that. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work always. So, it goes from receiving negative energy from someone, to building frustration till it piles up and forms anger (btw, not anger as aggression). Just the feeling. And then I feel bad for feeling angry. So, let’s call this as it is: a disaster system (for me, not all people who share this type). And for someone who likes to help people, I kinda want to move on a mountain far away from civilization. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Actually, I think I am more comfortable understanding things from a scientific perspective that helps me make sense of things (including human behavior). Personally, I like to be able to use knowledge to help people even if I am far away from them. It could be just me. Who knows?

I agree with what you said about “feeling someone’s energy through a screen.” However, how do you feel if someone else tells you you’re probably just making assumptions to other people’s feelings/energy through a screen? :(

@@azyleefistory I don't tell them. And in my case, it is still based on the way they write/respond. It is more reading between the lines than guessing. Kinda like: I can put things into context even if someone tries to provide as little information as possible.

I left the Myers Briggs boat a long time ago (at the time being classified as an e/intp, previously already undergone an infp diagnosis as a thirteen y/o lol, which doesnt confuse me because people change a lot in their lifetimes), since I felt it had too much error in the “diagnosing” system because people are mostly biased or confused in how they value themselves and their tendencies and i also do not appreciate the rigidity or prejudice in thinking, relating or interpreting others, that might come with adopting any kind of human classifying system (be it astrology signs or personality types or what have you). But this video (the two minute version) popped up in my recommended and for some reason piqued my curiosity. I am slapped in the face with how much it seems to describe the current me that i am recently discovering. Very cool, but this requires further inspection, for perhaps i might find things to relate in other personality types as well (which is to be expected)

Love it, you've condensed all descriptions I've read out there into one coherent whole. Thankyou, I'm bookmarking this 👀 Although being socially smooth is not my forte (yet) I'd say I'm more awkwardly rigid because of my lack of experience with people tbf xD. but perhaps I'm being overly critical here, who knows. When I become well-rounded enough and come accustom to social interaction, I guess i'd naturally embody more of who you've described.

We not mind readers but we highly skilled n reading ppl, which Is a bless and curse,,, as a young infj it was a curse bc it was unconscious process that drains u !! Now as a old and more developed infj, I embrace my skills and I take advantage of them n a conscious way, aiming a good purpose' example, my parenting style, adjusting my to each of my kids style , (between a intp boy and enfp girl) 😅

That's great to know! 😀 Mine is other way around. It was a blessing for me as a child since I observed people and loved analysing them and their viewpoints. Now it's like curse, since I know who's interested to know me, talk to me or whether they know or like the things I do or not... It's also bad that I am aware of the emotional state of people and the surrounding I'm in, it often drains my energy very quickly if it's too overwhelming which is usually the case. 🥲

The whole thing about being a quiet but strong presence is entirely true for me if I have the confidence to assert myself. I’ve noticed that people can interpret this silence as not having much to say, or not being interested, which couldn’t be farther from the truth! That’s when you open your mouth, and reveal the complex web of analysis that’s been running through your head the whole time, and your presence changes entirely. (If you have the confidence)

Many yrs ago, before the term INFJ etc came into existence...I saw a movie where a little robot who got overstimulated would twirl around and say, "too much sensory input, too much sensory input!" I recognized this was exactly what I oftentimes felt. I felt validated. I started saying it 'as a joke' but I very much meant it. Yrs later when I learned I was an INFJ...well, there it was...and is. When there is too much sensory input, I just kinda quietly power down like a robot. I'm sensitive to certain words and sounds also.

As much of a thinker as a feeler. I analyze and maybe overanalyze, but that isn't unknown or frowned upon if you are a scientist. I love being able to do so and then to step back and work on the bigger picture before making a decision. It does take work and training/experience though to be able to balance the two.

I kept mistyping as INFP, INTP and INTJ. Finally stopped messing around and realized I fit into INFJ more, cognitively wise. Being an enneagram 6 makes it hard because second guessing myself is part of my nature coupled with Ni-Ti looping... which leads to even more confusion! But enough is enough. Lol.

I have to add another comment....not psychics or mind readers but can do a miraculously accurate impression of them. I don't remember having this skill before age 14, but after that I surprised myself. I agree. Not psychic but many (including myself) listen to those intuitions which prove to be often true. It feels like maybe other people don’t listen to enough data inputs.

I think a friend of mine is an INFJ. He does not like doing tests like MBTI. I am an INTP so we have different perspectives on things but the same energy and communication style. If that makes sence. Same with a INFP friend and a ISTP mechanic pretty sure he is as his temperament fits with istp. I do not know an INTJ AFAIK.

Recently I've adopted certain INTJ characteristics and have been applying them to social interactions. I do put others feelings above my own to my own detriment. As a result, I got so burned out, anxious and forgetful that I had to get on ADHD medication for the first time in my life to think normally. I guess I've always had it, but it really showed it's a$$ this year. Back to the INTJ thing: the ones in my life spit straight up facts and thoughts when interacting with people regardless of how it will make them feel. Sure, they may regret it later if they saw people react negatively, but still it's better than sugar coating a problem. So I've started doing the same and holy hell, it is so against my nature that it gives me nightmares at night. But I got to be honest, aggressively addressing a problem without worrying about feelings is REALLY helping out all involved. Feels get hurt, sometimes badly, but I make it clear that I'm calling them out (and myself) out of genuine love and care. I admire INTJ's for this natural ability place logic over feelings because this junks HARD with loved ones. This keeps giving me nightmares that I'm an angry soccer mom like lady who always wants to yell at people.

Our Te is over-emphasised and overestimated by other types. Our third slot function, Fi, is actually very strong (like your third slot Ti), and can even take over as a primary source of motivation. We don't take pleasure in being blunt, we just often haven't been able to see a way around it, or how to do otherwise. We're constantly stuck in "simulation mode", thinking several moves ahead, and other than our Fe being a blind spot, we may not see leaving someone in a state of ignorance as a long term benefit. But we are keenly aware that our awkward social skills alienate us, and I think most of us feel lonely, isolated, and misunderstood... to varying degrees depending on whether or not we're sociopathic villains! ;-)

I would say I’m not psychic I’m just observant and I understand people. I can get a baseline of someone and from there they become rather predictable. When you know what motivates someone, it becomes very easy to predict what they are likely to do. It’s really just logic. 🤣
