Hey Martin first of all thanks for making this video ... Its just got me more exiting waiting for my camera back from conversion. I loved all of your photos especially the ones in good sunlight .. Ive been experimenting with my Nikon Z7 ii with a ir72 filter with long exposure and love the results, enough so to send my Z6 away for the IR conversion, hopefully it will be back soon, it will be nice to take an image without a tripod and long exposure, but dont get me wrong, I do like the results of the long exposure ... Once again thanks for this video ... Subbed also, all the best Tony

Martin, When you were on The Lensless Podcast I almost submitted the question "Will you be doing a video on IR photography?" So it was a nice surprise to find this video. Your videos are always informative and interesting.

Inspiring. Some lovely images there. I used to do a lot of ' proper ' deep sky imaging up to 2015, when light pollution and LED street lighting put an end to it. I have a Canon 1100d with its IR and AA filters removed, and a very rare Nikon D5100 which has had its Bayer Matrix Array and IR and AA filters removed, and is a true Monochrome Full Spectrum digital camera. I used to use these with narrowband Hydrogen Alpha and OIII filters to image the vast distant deep sky objects . They may prove of some merit in terrestrial photography too. Have to give them a go.

Thankyou Martin, it was clear to see how much you enjoyed that outing! You really thought outside the box and got some unusual pictures. It would be hard to pick a favourite but I particularly liked the plants through the windows and the upward view of the glimpse of the church through the tree, also the second one with a boat ( barge/narrow boat) but there were loads of good ones! I think I’m going to have to look at them all again!

Another great video, Martin. Wonderful images. Your skill in seeing details and abstracting them is remarkable. Just my sort of pictures. I’m not a huge fan of white foliage in IR but you deliver some great tonal contrasts. I love IR on dull days, too.

Beautiful images. The pale, ethereal foliage makes for a beautiful contrast to the more stark, human-made lines of the architecture. Lovely stuff! This video reminded me of last October when we passed through Saltaire on the water, with an overnight stop at the quay. The little bakery halfway up the hill on the right sell some amazing cakes! Anyway, thanks for another great vlog 🙂

Amazing photos, very cool video. The Salts Mill is amazing too. This is inspiring me to try a roll of infrared film or even to buy an older digital camera that's converted to infrared. Thank you! :)

I enjoyed this video a lot, you always inspire me to get out there and shoot something! I've been Rollei IR film for a few years now,both in 4x5 and medium format, and like the effects it gives, especially when we have dramatic skies. I've considered getting a converted digital camera mostly to have something that is easy to carry around, after seeing your results with one I think that I will.

Hi yes I can do that, however, briefly, I set a custom white balance on the camera, make sure when taking the picture the histogram is not clipping at either end, the raw file is then opened in PS and desaturated i then just adjust levels of high and low values and then adjust the contrast using curves, I will do a short video how I do it

@@martinhensonphotography Martin is there anything special that you need to do with the image in LR or PS as regards editing them like a normal digital file raw file.? Yes I have been looking at mirroless.

Nice pictures. What camera setting? I ask because I use the Olympus em1 mark ii with a filter using Live View. My exposures are several seconds long and would never attempt shooting hand held.
@martinhensonphotography
@martinhensonphotography 2 жыл бұрын
I was in aperture priority, shutter speeds were normal , for you to handhold your Olympus it would need to be converted for infrared rather than using a filter
