@Oussamatha I wouldn't say I speak any of them fluently anymore unfortunately - I grew up speaking German up until about age 5 or 6 (my dad's first language was German), Spanish was my main foreign language throughout school, and I lived in France for awhile with my Francophone ex, so I'm familiar with all three, but sadly nowhere near Brühl's proficiency.

Brühl was born in Barcelona, Spain. His father was TV director Hanno Brühl, who was born in São Paulo, Brazil, of German origin. His Spanish mother is Marisa González Domingo, a Catalan teacher. He has a brother and a sister, Oliver and Miriam. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Cologne, Germany, where he grew up and attended the Dreikönigsgymnasium. Which is fucking retarded. Many relationships are pursuits. Many *happy* long term ones are ones that were earned through some kind of a struggle. Whether it was the man pursuing the woman, the woman pining for the man. Some people end up dating all of each other's friends until they figure out their health match was the one they didn't pay much attention to in the first place. This nonsense being spouted here is exactly why men and women aren't connecting. Anything that seems "dominating" on the man's part is now somehow classified as sexual harassment.

@@erkergul Indeed, and she DID insist to know about him. I for one definetly like how Quentin Terentino with his choice of words in dialogue underlines a few interessting thing and humanizes characters... and yet doesnt shy away from the violence. At the same time he gives the audience a mirror and that is utterly apparent in Inglorious Basterds. Just as the Nazi audience is cheering for Friedrich Zoller in the Cinema, in the real world the american Audience was probably cheering for Aldo and his basterds... Despite the fact that we are all human beings and capable of empathy, we still do terrible and unforgiveable things to one another. And that is something that i think Mr. Terentino is capturing incredibly well in most (if not all!) of his movies.

I think it is quite obvious in this scene that he is not entirely proud of his accomplishments and is just answering her questions, not trying to impress her. "Comical?" before Shoshanna leaves is the big marker for me. And while he expected some reaction from her in the scene where he introduced himself, I believe that if he _really_ wanted to impress her by his accomplishments, he'd come up with something like "oh haven't you heard about me? I killed 300 people yep I did!". With that said, I think he was not trying to "woo" her, he was just acting of genuine interest and with good intentions towards her, but without knowing her background, which makes their plot line quite tragical.

The most amazing thing about this flick is when I watched it for the second time, I’d forgotten so many of the best scenes didn’t have a word of English. Yet with facial expressions, body language and tone of voice, the drama is still there even though I was reading subtitles. Gotta hand it to QT.

That is a common exaggeration. Hugo Boss designed the SS (Black Shirt) uniforms, the SA (Brown Shirt) uniforms, and the Hitler Youth. All of these were inspired by the German Army uniforms of the Weimar Republic which were not very different from the uniforms Germany used in World War 1, the main difference was the vast majority lacked the collar patches which then became standard during the Weimar period. All of these were well before Hugo Boss got involved. Anyway, the point is that Hugo Boss didn't design the German uniforms from scratch but only tweaked them for a couple branches of the service (namely the Nazi Party groups like the SA and SS that weren't technically the military).

Before that, I just thought he was a good guy from Germany that was following orders and not like the SS that was just ruthless. What a lot of people don't realize is that the German army was not the same as the SS. Only the most brutal, murderous soldiers were picked to be in the SS.
