We finally got the call to go pick up our Lone Peak Camper a couple weeks ago. Here is a quick look at the camper with the options we got, and some of the build out of the truck.

I'm really curious how you end up liking this set up in the rain. We sold our GFC after 2 years of ownership because it was so, so annoying to deal with in wet weather. The lack of a rain fly and the poor tent material choice allowed water ingress into the mattress area. They had great customer service and they tried to make it right, but at the end of the day, it just wanted to leak. The Lone Peak looks like a better material; hopefully you don't have the same problems.
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
Yea, there are a lot of people that say the gfc leaks, was one of many reasons I didn't go with them. They know it leaks and do nothing to fix it. I'm hopeful this one will be good since Kyle and the team are here in Washington as well, but time will tell!

That's gonna be a nice drive! If you click my profile I've got a video on there about setting it up and taking it apart I send to people who buy them. If you have ig, search @upper_left_adventures and I've got a few posts on there about them. If interested, I sell a larger and a smaller one. Smaller one fits in a $20 flat rate box and can ship them

Quite the crafty guy. Nice to see how dark the RRT is and that awning is sweet. 200ahr that is some serious over kill my man but hey no one ever complains about having too much HP and ft lbs out their motor. Lol. Would be interested in hearing why the switch from the Alucab to the line peak?
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
Old setup with an alucab explorer canopy and a wedge tent on top. Not an alucabin. Wanted to be able to stand up inside and get changed without laying down lol. 200ah is for now, may go up another 100ah, but will see. Running the air fryer eats the battery pretty quick lol

@TrashPandaGarage4 ай бұрын
Sweet set-up! You looking at some sort of frame stiffening option? With all of that bumper/box/swing-away weight, on top of the canopy camper and custom build out weight I would be a little concerned about an increase in bed movement and the bed contacting the cab. Rad truck, though!
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
I have frame stiffeners welded on a couple years ago, this setup is a bit lighter than my last one

Awesome camper setup! I have a 3rd gen ZR2 and it's great to see the lone peak on a midsize truck, most of the videos are on full size rigs. I like the narrow design but worry about the bed width, is it wide enough for 2 people up there comfortably?
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
It's basically a full xl bed, definitely enough room for 2, I'll be building some sort of sleep platform below as well to my 2 kids.

That’s a really nice rig and build! I’ve been following along on the FB group as well. You’ve confirmed a lot of decisions I’ve made for my build and given me some new ideas. I still have a few months to wait. Are there any LP accessories you would suggest not getting or any that are must haves? I’m still deciding on what I want to add. I will get Juicebox and I’m debating on the gear vault.
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
Juice box and lighting is a must. Gear vault is definitely nice to have, but I wouldn't say is a must. Awning brackets are a must if wanting to run an awning. I ended up not getting the vent fan, gonna see how it goes and if needed, will add it later myself. I found the same fan system they use online. I'm doing my own outside lights, but if you don't have the means or know how, I'd suggest adding those. Can never go wrong with more lights. Ran into some issues today installing the solar wiring, I ended up having to pry the solar wiring port off the roof to get the wires fed through, they go a little too small on the hole they drill in the roof.
@mikececchini64 ай бұрын
@@upper_left_adventures what size hole was used on the solar port from lone peak..

Great video! I have a 21’ ZR2 and hope to pick up in late May. I’m worried about satellite radio and FM connection once the camper is installed. Any issues? I typically listen to the radio and don’t download music. Is that little rectangular black box under your mattress for the antenna to poke through? Is that a must with the Colorado? Thanks!
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
I havnt ran with an antenna in almost 3 years due to my old setup, as my old wedge roof top tent went over the roof some as well. I don't typically listen to the radio, I'm usually listening to pod casts, but the times I do listen to radio I've had no issues. The small black thing is the dust killer vent, basically let's air into the camper to help keep dust out from around the tailgate
@diypunx4 ай бұрын
Very nice build! What inside lights did you use and was it easy to wire up to the juice box?
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
Just some basic 12v cob led strips cut to length and positive and negative wires added. Juice box side is easy, just loosen the set screws for the wire port wanted, put the wire in and tighten.

Any problems or concerns with awning and diesel heater port being on the same side...i.e. exhaust etc?
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
Exhaust is coming out of the box on my swingout with this setup, and won't be under the awning, but for the past 3 years I've ran my diesel heater under the awning with no issues at all. I've ran my firepit under the awning for hours without issue as well.

@upper_left_adventures2 ай бұрын
Alucabin is 3x the price, and I've had 2 friends who purchased and sold their alucabin after not liking them. On paper, the only think the alucabin has over the lonepeak is the rear door setup

Solid, only the upfitters have raved about alucab. Most end users have moved on to other options. Ty for the mad quick response.

Oh one more thing... I looks like a lot of the rig is built out of 80/20 extruded aluminum railing. All using some type of t-nut. Sound right?
@upper_left_adventures2 ай бұрын
My interior is built with 2020 extrusion, the camper is built with custom extrusions Kyle had made. Unfortunately, they have one major flaw. I believe they did it on purpose, others dont. The extrusion he made is custom, and as of yet, have not found a single source other than lone peak directly to buy t nuts. Its the size of m10 t nut track, but uses m8 bolts.

Nice video. How would you compare this to the Super Pacific? I'm in the market and want to vet everything before pulling the trigger on 10K - 15K. Also, what would you say your build cost without the interior cabinets and accessories? I assume this holds up well in the rain of the PNW. Thanks again for the video. It helps us noobs do the right thing. :) Cheers.
@upper_left_adventures2 ай бұрын
Ive never slept inside another camper, so dont have a direct comparison. But I can tell you its miles ahead of a go fast camper, and not another camper out there has the passthrough space, and room inside. And price cant be touched by any of the competitors. Camper, if ordered today is about $7500 with all my options.

How many inches over the cab is the overall height of the closed camper? Lonepeak told me 10” but this looks a lot higher.
@upper_left_adventures4 ай бұрын
In the center of the cab where the cab is at the highest point, it's 10", if you measure at the front, it's 12" but the cab is already sloping down at that point. This is without the cross bars or any additions on the top, that obviously adds to it.
