Bought mine after watching this review 2 years ago. It's been through temps over 100. And Down to minus 20. Doing nature photography through the bush and prs shooting with the innorel large ball head. Like it so much I bought a rt80c for my spotting scope and photography. I laugh and jab the guys that buy the ones over a grand for the same thing. No point in spending 1000 bucks plus, when I can get something like this for under $400. Now the new ones have quarter turn rubber twist locks, head comes with a universal adapter on the side for things like cell phones, kestral, camera holders.

Great review of a feature reach tripod. Curious if this tripod could be used to mount a rifle. NM, you answered my question at the end of the video.

You should get the RRS cinch, $40. You will love them, there is no movement. It straps around the ocular.

Hi Derrick! I actually just switched from binoculars to a spotting scope, so very steady now. But I agree that the cinch would be good for binocs. Thanks for watching!

@@Prometheuss.cannabis.corner Well, my wife didn't like the bino's and she's my primary spotter...Now, when she looked through the spotting scope she said "I think I liked the bino's better." My reply..."oh well". I do like the spotting scope though, range of zoom instead of just 15x and the glass in the spotter is as good or better than the meopta meostars...I now have a Leupold Gold Ring 12-40X60MM HD with the IMPACT reticle and really like it. I find that shooting is like home decorating, every 3 years everyone changes to the new, shiny thing. I'm just trying to go with what works for me.

Thanks for taking off the mounting plate and showing how it's constructed. Would you say that the locking lever is built to last? I'm thinking about ordering this mount for my star-tracker.

HI Itai! I never had an issue with the locking mechanism, it was the plate that seemed to get "out of round" and not fit.

Hi Ko6pa! Yeah, they're pretty heavy duty, but that other tripod was just too lightweight and when you're trying to spot hits at 1,100 yards and the wind is moving those binoc's all over the place, it's time to upgrade :) Thanks for watching my friend and shoot straight!

THE 4GUNGUY FOLLOWERS BEWARE!!! This thing has BROKEN on me! Yep, they have glued the tightening rings and I guess the glue has just given up on one of the legs and then the leg adjustment twist lock is just locked now. I've really only used this thing like 15 times, so am VERY unhappy with this product failure. Also I have found that their support is pretty much non-existent and out of China, so good luck with that. As I told KDub below, I'm really leery of this general type of tripod now since if you notice, they all seem to be made from the same factory...Even the $600 stuff. I'm probably going with lever locks on my next one. I'm going to reach out to them. Also, just today again, the base was very difficult to seat into the tripod female ring. Don't know what's going on here as I treat this thing like gold! But I'm going to get to the bottom of it all and probably do a follow-up...We'll see. I'm leaving the video up so people read this notice. Not saying not to buy this tripod, maybe I got a lemon, but $300 is a lot of money for 15 times usage!

are the sleeve of the twist locks made of rubber, metal, or plastic?

I have the same tripod. I put a raugh precision tripod hammock thing. I also got to 2” elastic webbing and made a pen holder that slips on over one of the pads. It’s like a 2 round holder but holds 5 pens. I can send you one of you want for free. I made a few. I can email you a pic?

@@The4GunGuy are you the tightening rings that broke the 1/2 twist to leg section tightened a or something else? Was looking at the 80 and this 90 but I actually kind of like the lever locking legs. Just curious the exact broken part
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 жыл бұрын
@@k-dubspiral I can't even explain what happened it's so messed up. I've never over tightened the legs and I have used this thing maybe 15 times so far. I took it out of the case I keep it in and the leg just...came off! I mean it just fell off. like the glue they used just gave up. So I thought OK, I'll just glue it back on, but then the stupid lock ring won't unlock! it's the craziest thing and I take exceptional care of my gear. To add insult to injury here, the top insert wouldn't even fit. it's like someone took it out, beat the crap out of it and put in back in the case. I see that ALL of these things are basically made in the same factory, even the "top of the line" stuff, so I'm VERY Leary of purchasing any of the same type again. I don't want to pay $600 and have the same thing happen. Also, their support is non-existent. Finally, I agree with you and will go with lever locks on the next tripod I purchase. Sorry for the long reply but I'm just so frustrated here and am going to post a general comment to beware of this brand. Thanks for watching and your comment my friend!

If Im gonna get this strictly for shooting and going with a ball head, is there any reason to get it with the bowl adapter???
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, The only reason I could see was if you were going to get a rifle saddle for it, then it might make it easier to adjust on the fly. For spotting AND shooting off the top of the tripod, I now use a large place that screws onto the flat base of the tripod, a heavy sand filled bag and that's it. For spotting, I place my binoculars on the bag and then have a bungy cord to hold them in place. For shooting, I place the bag, and if I have to move a lot, I have a tighter bungy to hold the bag on the plate...If not moving, just the bag. Using a bag gives me freedom to manage the binoculars/rifle to any orientation quickly without having to deal with a knob. Might be good video idea...Thanks! And thanks for watching as usual my friend!

@@The4GunGuy what I think is that this kind of carbon fiber twist lock legs out there in the market. They are all being able to be dismantled to wash. Most of Seascape photographers are using this type of tripod and they need to wash it to get rid of the sand and all. Anyway, thanks for your info, I will ask the manufacturer as well. Thanks

Hi Wingding...No, I haven't. The shooting I do is either in the prone position or on various platforms (tank traps, barricades, tires, rocks, posts, etc...) so there are no stages where we can use the tripod as a platform. I may get a rifle mount for it though just for fun and if I do, I'll post that video. Thanks for watching and shoot straight!
