The 1 to 3 settings on the G4 are equivalent to the 1 to 3 settings on the G5, so if you require setting 4 then the G4 would not provide enough oxygen for you.

G4 20 bpm G5 17 bpm (breaths per min) 1 21 ml 12 ml 2 42 ml 25 ml 3 63 ml 37 ml 4 n/a 49 ml 5 n/a 62 ml 6 n/a 74 ml So it's more like 1 on G4 is 2 on G5, 2 on G4 is 4 on G5, and 3 on G4 is 5 on G5. That makes a lot more sense than just having the 3 lowest settings of the G5.

@@MrWhaatay The G4 ml numbers you are providing are at 10 bpm, not 20. See page 5 of the technical manual for the G4 here - www.inogen.com/pdf/InogenOneG4TechnicalManual.pdf and for the G5 here - www.inogen.com/pdf/96-09302-00-01%20revA%20Technical%20Manual%20Inogen%20One%20G5.pdf. The G4 provides the same oxygen output at settings 1, 2, and 3 (max 210, 420, and 630 ml respectively). It sure would be nice if the G4 were twice as powerful but it is not. It is simply a smaller option for those who need low levels of oxygen.

@@oximedicalrespiratory Hey thank you for providing the manuals. Looks like the chart I found was fudging the numbers to get sales. The chart I was looking at said 20 bpm for the G4 and 17 bpm for the G5 but you are correct that the chart is wrong.

Our blog post explains why in detail - oximedical.com/a-guide-to-understanding-pulse-flow-settings-on-portable-oxygen-concentrators/ - but here is the final paragraph to sum it up: When all is said and done, most people can use the SAME pulse flow setting as they do continuous flow setting. Some find that they need to bump up the setting a notch or two, especially on the smaller POCs that have a 5:1 or 6:1 ratio. Since so many factors contribute to the actual amount of oxygen inhaled, the flow setting number is sometimes just a number. The actual amount of oxygen needed is simply what it takes to raise the blood oxygen percentage to an acceptable level as directed by a physician. A fingertip pulse oximeter provides the numbers that are most important.
