There's actually a spiritual successor to this game on mobile, it's called Detonation Racing. It's completely free on Apple Arcade.

1:37 I don't think it's a bad idea, but neither is good. This game is about using the tracks as your advantage. Since this game doesn't have boosts, it makes you learn the powerplay layout on the track, either to use it on your opponent or being careful in case it will be triggered by someone behind you (especially when you're in the 1st place). If we have boosts, we'll just end up spamming it whenever there is no powerplay / shortcut nearby or we're in the 1st place to run away from the opponents, which in my opinion kinda kills the gameplay strategy as I mentioned before. But again, that's just my opinion

The thing about drifting in this game is it's similar to that of that in Hotshots Racing (IIRC same programmer.). You can't just expect to drift around corners and get through it smoothly. You'd need to manage your throttle to get through it smoother and faster. Just flooring it all the way will make you smack into the walls. It's something I learned after replaying the game again recently. I fared soooo much better knowing that now than my kid self struggling with the events in the past. Still an underrated gem like Blur and Modnation Racers. The trio of racers that released around the same time but didn't get much recognition.

16:13 the physics were never actually tied to the FPS, even at 30. The game is tick rate-based, and most of its internal logic was designed around 60 ticks per second. So it WAS easy for the developers to enable 60 FPS, but for some unknown reason they *effectively* set the tick rate, together with FPS, to 30 for the release. This was done by essentially processing each tick as two, so 30 * 2 = 60, and everything in the game's logic works out. This mod simply undoes the change. Unfortunately, going beyond 60 ticks per second (and hence higher FPS) is considerably more difficult, since the game wasn't designed for it.

It wasn't really Disney's fault. Despite the game getting good reviews, it didn't sell well, probably because 2010 was just too oversaturated with racing games. This was released the same year as the amazing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, and Gran Turismo 5, why bother paying money for Split/Second when you can simply wait until the next Gran Turismo or Need for Speed game? This game was just released at the wrong place at the wrong time. To quote John McClane from Die Hard 2, "Story of my life."

patch is still broken - the crash landing level 2 powerplay on airport terminal is still non-existent and one of the power plant powerplays still gets set off too early

Imho car at 6:17 - Cobretti (if i remember its name) is one of the best cars in game! I've 100% this game several times and even max difficulty bots on last black car (wich looks some kind of LeMans prot) couldn't beat me in this car, nor could any of my friends! :D Also its great for drifting! Believe me, I have 500+ hours on Steam version and like double (may be triple) it from CD version :D

There is. When that happens, usually the detonation animation and sound effects plays earlier. You can dodge to the right because there's tunnel covered in smoke.

Back when Split/Second and Blur released I stood in a Media Markt near our base, the description for blur was basically grown up Mario Kart, sounded boring, so i took split second and never regretted that, man that game was fun. I later played blur on someone else's laptop, and I found it extremely boring. But both games never sold well enough, but there is to this day a bit of a rivalry between Blur and Split/second players.

Extremely underrated. However with this 60fps patch there are still Power Play and collision issues. For example, I haven't been able to trigger the airplane crash.

The premise for this game was so stupid but the racing so incredibly good. 30 FPS really sucks but the game was so good you simply had to swallow it before. Definitely gonna check that patch out...and if we get the DLC too like the pinned comment says that will be absolutely incredible.

You mentioned that you wished it was a mobile game. Well, we did get a Java phone version of the game, which actually has Nitrous, and there's the iOS port, which is god awful. If you like the same 2 songs playing in repeat, try the Java version out.

You're talking about the mod, right? That's the wrong way around. It works on Steam, it's the Cracked version that the mod won't work with.

And this is coming from the Steam Guide by the person responsible for the mod. And likely they never wanted it to be used on a cracked version of the game, as it was solely made for the Steam release, hence why the guide is on Steam, it's because it requires the Steam version.
