Romanians are so impressive at flying the Mig-21 - one might actually think that Mig-21 is maneuverable :) (according to some theories it is). It was great to see this display in Poland as well. Do come back! We miss this model of Mig (not in use since 2000).

I was "weaned" on this aircraft, way back in 1983. A marvelous bird, even after all these years, a pair of these on a Combat Air Patrol (CAP), are a force to recon with. One of the "Best" interceptors of all times.

Watched this VERY aircraft at RIAT 2019 / RAF Fairford recently. Absolutely fantastic to see these old cold war / soviet era aircraft! The size of the afterburner was mental! Brilliant video!

It has a pretty fantastic ability to turn, it just dumps a lot of speed when it does it because the high angle of attack turns the entire wing into a giant airbrake.

What a gem of a video! Thanks for uploading. Anyway, its clear from this that leatherneck studios haven't done a good enough job to simulate the FM of this aircraft. Look at how well it performs at low speed. Does anyone know if it has a newer engine or is it the same from the 70's?

LanceR is only upgraded avionics and gun systems with HOTAS lot of LCD's etc... from what i know...but i might be wrong.

I dont know i still think the FM is pretty. He wasn't doing any crazy manuvers and The DCS mig 22 flys great if you fly light on the stick

LN's 21 handles exceptionally well at low speed, you just have to really watch your AoA. If you hold it around 32-33 degrees indicated (which is around 20 true I think) it'll make some incredibly sharp turns, it just can't sustain it for very long due to the speed loss. If you're feeling really brave, you can even use stalls and spins tactically since it recovers so easily.

I'm going to estimate that the Mig 21 burns about 1.5 gallons of fuel per second when in full afterburner, similar to the J79 turbine engine that powers the F104 Starfighter.

it seems this plane got big response and control in slow speeds...most of the planes need speed to make fast turns and other manouvers...im not sure but it seems like this on the screen....i like light responsive machines

Not really High speed combined with high maneuvers equals high G's At low speeds the aircraft can make tight maneuvers with no consequencis of putting many G's Edit:sorry i am tired and i didn't read carefully

He's not actually going all that fast by MiG-21 standards (In the MiG-21bis the takeoff speed is 350 km/h!) and needs the extra lift. If the MiG was flying at true combat speeds you'd hardly see the display due to the wide turning radius.

Judging by the length of the plume and the many shock diamonds in it, I suspect he was. The Soviet slang for the emergency burner was 'diamond regime' because of the appearance.

This LANCER have israeli avionics. Two multifunction displays like in F-16 and bad pilot in F-16 can be easily shot down with these plane. As fighter- bomber can carry infrared and laser guided bombs Russians R-73 or France Magic 2 and Python 3 missiles,Rafael Litening targeting pod.Its best upgraded Mig-21.

Never realized the Mig-21 could be that agile. Of course, it was carrying nothing. Slap a couple of rocket launchers, couple of Archers and a full central tank and I'm not so sure it would be this agile. Still I'm very impressed with the agility displayed by a 60s fighter that was designed in the late 50s. Still a viable weapon.
