Saw Death in Atlanta in the early 90's during their Individual Thought Patterns tour. I stood against the stage and just watched the magic happening before me the entire time. I got to shake Chuck's hand, and my friend got his Coke bottle glasses broken in the pit and had to spend the rest of the show holding 1 lens (all he could find lol) up to his eye 😆 R.I.P. Just found this on a fluke, and, I AM VERY HAPPY. Your reaction was AMZING. THANK YOU brother. Chuck Schuldiner is universally acknowledged as the Godfather of Death Metal, just in case you didn't know. His career and music is genre defining. This song is on the "Human" alblum/disc, which was their defining, best ever work. I would seriously recommend anything that Death made. They are all great, and amazing. Chuck died on December 13, 2001, of an extremely rare form of brain cancer, which his insurance refused to pay for, for an experimental form of a cure, which is now an accepted treatment. Tank you so much for making this video, and keeping the memory of Chuck ALIVE!

Really? Never heard that story regarding the aftermath of his death. What is the cure that is an accepted treatment today? Nontheless extremely tragic, i wouldn't wanna live in the US paying absurd amounts of money for an medical insurance that surely won't cut it in the end when needed.

Chuck Schuldiner, one of a kind. Unbelievable songwriter, guitarist and artist all around. All the musicians who have been part of the band are excellent too. When every other death metal band still focused on stupid topics like death (actual death, not the band), raping people, murdering and torturing somebody he stayed on his line despite fans went like "oh nooo, Death is not death metal anymore, buuuh huuu 😭😭😭" Fuck them, Death is, was, and always will be no.1

Death's Leprosy is still one of my all time favourite death metal albums, Chuck Schuldiner is the Godfather of Death Metal. One of my current favourite death metal shredders is Sonia Anubis of the all-girl group Crypta, when I first came across her YT channel she was doing covers of Chuck/Death on guitar and bass. You should check them out, Chuck would be proud to know he influenced such a talented guitarist as Sonia.

Excellent reaction mate. Love your enthusiasm. Have to agree with you totally, the older stuff seems to have more soul to it. 'Human' was defo their best album and all the songs just shred. Very respectful reaction from a dude who knows how to dissekt a classic Death track. They have a superior sound as he points out & also takes time to check out the lyrics. Viking Hello from Denmark. And only Gene Hoglan was able to keep up the insane standard Reinert played on this classic album, when he took over the drums on Individual T. Patterns. Their 2 best albums imo.

you nailed it. this song is a direct rebuttal to the claims of the plaintiffs in this case. if you have time there are a few interesting documentaries to watch that paint a bigger, more convoluted picture of the attack on artistic expression and freedom of speech in the mid to late 80s. Another thing that you got right is the implied vagueness of a lot of metal lyrics. This is common across many metal genres to keep it open to interpretation as to have different meanings to different audiences.

Pretty crazy that both Masvidal and Reinert were just 20 when they recorded this album. I think in an interview, DiGiorgio said they had booked a week for Reinert to lay down the drum tracks, but he did it in like 2 or 3 days. So they used the extra time to write and record Cosmic Sea.

Been a fan of this band for 30+ years. A lot of the lyrics. i have no idea what they are. This is musician type cork sniffing level metal and kind to some extent only care about the performance and sound. But for sure Chucks lyrics matched the musical content 1:1. I could make comparisons to Tool in some ways. It's like the proficiency of musicianship and th depth to the lyrics are the kind of artistic formulations that seem to be derived from conduits of the universe itself. and Rarely done so perfectly. No matter the genre, no matter the age of human existence. It's just a channeling, and a gift that some with open eyes are blessed with. One thing is for certain. If you spend your days staring at a 5.5" screen scrolling up. you are withering away from that clarity. And as someone who does not, and even saw Television as the idiot box even by the time i was like 11 years old over 40 years ago. You need to unplug from the matrix. BEcause that's something i couldn't even remotely be bothered with as a pre teenager nearly half a century ago. I find it patronizing and a distraction and a major contributor to anti compassion, divisiveness and idiocy. And when you have seen it manifest clearly for multiple decades to the T, it's hard to even be bothered to entertain people that quite literally are programed so far gone that they might never get it. Some do though, so never give up. The very content of these lyrics was then and is now overtly on the front page of society. In other words it's not new. In fact it's thousands of years old minimum.

Death is the best Death Metal band. They were technical and progressive when the others that came out were not. Chuck also sang not just about satanic stuff, he actually sang about humanity and society and cared about the human condition. The New Wave of Deatetal is great but they all jumped off of Death. As far Deathmetal they are like what the Beatles and Led Zeppelin are to rock.

The Judas Priest case was ridiculous... the same lawyers went after Ozzy Osbourne for the song 'Suicide solution' inspiring a suicide... Ozzy won the case, got it tossed. Priest was another angle... 2 teens shot themselves in a double suicide pact in Nevada - 1 survived. The survivor wrote a letter blaming music by Judas Priest for their actions (He did not account for their drug & alcohol use... he later died from a OD). Lawyers knew their case would be tossed on 1st amendment basis like Ozzy... so they looked for 'hidden' messages in Judas Priest's songs. They claimed they had found a 'subliminal command' in a Spooky Tooth cover "Better by you, better than me" which Priest recorded in 1978... it was the alleged command "Do it" on the song that pushed the boys to suicide... Thus, the case went to trial as the parents sued Judas Priest. The plaintiffs claimed that Priest had intentionally placed the order "do it" into that song... and the judge said he could hear "do it" when it was played in court... Rob Halford of Priest testified that there was no "do it" on the track... he even sang the song on the stand. Experts analyzed the "do it" and they concluded that is was a combination of the guitars and Rob Halford's breath intake that created that perception. Others looked at the 2 boys families and exposed that there was significant abuse, alcohol and drug use... which made them high suicide risks. Ultimately, Judas Priest was acquitted of any wrongdoing. But Halford said the trial had traumatized the band... Glenn Tipton (guitars) later wrote the song 'Bloodsuckers' for Judas Priest about the trial. Tipton was furious in the aftermath and said, "To sit and listen to bare-faced liars... and not being able to stand up. That was such an ordeal for us... They would go on about, 'How many people has this record killed? We would get letters from parents every day...' But when you ask them to produce those letters, they went, 'Oh, that was two or so years ago... it's inadmissible...' Bare-faced liars."
