Hi Magnus & Wendy, We just started watching your vlog and it has become one of our favorites. We especially like that you video your travels and that you let us know where you are. Most other vlogs tend not to share their locations, which is understandable. Love seeing the villages and other points of interest along the way. We have enjoyed several narrowboat holidays and are planning to get our own narrowboat in the next year or two. So we're following you with much interest.Keep up the good work. Ken & Marylou

When they built the canal system in the UK if was done 100% as a private project, so they held costs down by creating a narrow class of boat and barge. The system is unique to the UK - European canals and barges are much wider, being predominantly based on the existing river system.

If I ever make it back to the UK I will use hydraulic drive on my boat. It really is versatile and you can power so much from the engine without worrying about voltage drops and wires getting hot etc. Great boat!
@LifeinaNutshell
@LifeinaNutshell 7 жыл бұрын
I had never heard of hydraulic drive on a narrowboat before. It makes so much sense. Yes there is a slight loss in fuel economy. But narrowboats aren't exactly the most economical thing in the first place.

I don't think you should be getting rid of the diesel boiler, maybe just move it a few feet closer to the bow (to the other side of the wall) so that it is in the utility room area. it's always a really good idea to have some redundancy in your heating, plus it's always on and is silent, unlike like the wellesco. nice boat sober Aussies.

nice boat. I think it surpasses "not bad".Seems heaps more spacious than the 50 footers shown on here. the extra ten or fifteen feet really makes a difference.Do the bow thrusters help much and do they allow you to steer in reverse? I'm impressed, love the boat. Pity about you removing one of your heating redundancies. The Diesel stove with coils and a Webasto or other hydronic tied together, would make a perfect pair, with redundant circulation pumps. Worst case you have a solid fuel heater in the bow and a Diesel heater in the stern. ;-)
@LifeinaNutshell
@LifeinaNutshell 7 жыл бұрын
It would have been nice to keep the second diesel water heater but I doubt it would ever get used. I hope that the next owner of the heater will make use of its fantastic design.
