Hi Walter. I agree that it is bad keeping out the buyers from a car boot sale while the sellers are setting up. They should be allowed in at the same time. Sully car boot sale (south wales) tried to keep the buyers out for 30-60 minutes before the sellers for a few seasons, but they seem to have stopped , thank goodness. It creates bad feeling from buyers as they are watching people, who have got in early as they also are selling, walk round before the buyers are let in and asking for items to be set aside. Anyway thanks for the antiques videos, appreciated.

Hi Tony. Thank you for your comment. i have been buying and selling at sully for well over twenty years, it was only recent they tried it but no one would listen, they were sneaking in all over the place. its micro managing and i just dont see the need for it .

I don’t know what to say. I know you have children and need to support your family. Thanks for sharing too. I’m totally at the mad as the same male who ran over my foot 8 weeks ago, hit me again with his electric wheelchair again. It has been reported to bus company and police. A and E nurse refused to do a X-ray, not happy as in pain and worn out. I’m done today. This is so unsafe and like your car boot story too.

Hi Walter. In answer to your question, I use a company called Stripe to manage all of my Antiques Central website card transactions. Haven't had an issue yet. Might be worth looking in to? Regards, Mark.

Same here, I use Stripe. My website is new though so I can't say how good they are. I have read their policy on charge backs and it seems pretty solid. I think people can pay on stripe via PayPal but you can turn that option off 👍

If the item hasnt been delivered, Id recommend locating phone number of the Post Office that delivers to the zipcode of the person. Speak to the Supervisor of that station, and tell them you want the item RETURNED to you, because it is a Fraudulent Scam purchase. They should be able to return the item to you, and not have it delivered.

Thank you very much for your comment. the first item was delivered for two weeks before they opened a dispute, this second item is still being reviewed by paypal. so cant do anything yet

Sadly some people have lost everything with Royal Mail and the Post Office. They are all at it and they call it progress. As for the problems with etiquette it seems to be a issue with just about everything today. Making a living and some money just gets tougher. This is why I appreciate craftmanship and skills of days gone by. They thought that men and women aquired the skills to make something with their own hands, sometimes in their own backyard.

I'm curious about your beginnings in buying (and perhaps selling) old items before you started your business. How much time did you devote to your passion, what motivated you to continue, and how did you learn? And how did your family react? Did they ever criticize you for buying "junk" or "trash," not seeing the potential for profit and only viewing it as your "whims"?

I may be wrong but I think chargebacks can also be done via a bank so it is not limited to credit cards. It is a scandal what buyers can do. I had a similar “I didn’t make the purchase” claim recently. When I contacted the buyer they said they had had a few things go wrong recently and so thought it best to make the claim. I won the case though by providing proof of delivery and a copy of their message back to me.

Do you sell at any Antique Shows there? I do a local Antique show every month. The show has the set up, day before it opens. So theres plenty of time for dealers to buy from each other.

Hi mate, Thank you very much for your comment. i dont sell at antique fairs at all any more, since i opened my website i stopped ebay and antique fairs. i do sell at car boot sales but that is items for £1 and £2 nothing worth much.

Currently battling with Royal Mail as they have destroyed a World War 1 brass trench art vase as they say it is a dangerous item. This has cost me nearly £70. I have been so annoyed about it, but it seems like this sort of nonsense isn't an isolated incident. x

@@AntiquesArena I found a thread on the eBay business seller forum about this. People have had paperweights, door knockers and decanters like you returned. The story was that Royal Mail have a new scanner that basically can't see through things well enough, hence they are returned due to density. The good news is they are sending me the money for the postage and the vase. No wonder they are in such a financial mess. x

Your credit card charge back may not be a credit card problem. It may be an ACH scam. We had it happen to our personal checking account and the bank said it was ACH. In which case, it does no good to not take credit cards. To be clear, someone inside ACH stole our debit card info.

I personally want to see your sku system and one thing most dealers your level don't show much is dead stock storage and give an idea to the general public what the storages does in tail Me for example I've got 2 foot foot containers plus a 40 foot container full of stock unlisted not to mention two larges houses 3 bedrooms and im currently living in a recent purchase of a third home over 3000 sq feet thet I'm using primary as storage

I think you need to stop doing international orders, unfortunately they are just trouble and you will always be on the losing end, as there is little you can do when it comes to claims overseas, especially for such small sums.
